WOW! WOW! WOW! This is the proof that a Physis Ouverture digital organ - when voiced by you with its resultant audio processed properly and 'magically' - can sound more like a real pipe organ than the best real pipe organ. This is just the most amazing achievement and that 'lot of noise' is absolutely thrilling: bravo, Paolo! And you play this arrangement of 'Veni, Veni, Emmanuel' with great panache and verve. Diane Bish could learn a few things from you for certain!
😃 Thanks, Graham! I am not sure that my Ouverture sounds better than a pipe organ, but it definitely sounds better than most of the pipe organs I played in my life! 😄 I am also not sure that Diane Bish could learn something from me; I am sure that I would steal one pair of her fantastic, precious-stones-covered organ shoes! 😂
I don't think it's disrespectful to have preferences when it comes to organists and composers/arrangers. As the organ world still tends to be somewhat male-dominated, the great female performers/composers/arrangers (Jane Parker Smith, Gillian Weir, Marie-Claire Alain and Jeanne Demessieux immediately spring to my mind along with several others, including, I suppose, Diane Bish) garner attention because they are still in the minority. I'm from the UK and female Directors of Music/organists in cathedrals and university colleges are still a rarity. Of course, not all 'purist' lovers of the organ world have been enamoured with the 'showmanship' of such performers as Virgil Fox, Carlo Curley and Cameron Carpenter . . . or Diane Bish. But their success in bringing awareness of the King of Instruments to wider public acclaim has to be admired and appreciated, IMHO!
Nice job but the sound selected is so noisy Gosh ..........! The work could have been better if the sound selected wasn't too Mixed (Mixsure) and Principal stops shouldn't come till last embellishments thanks
It's nice that nowadays we can physically simulate an exact church organ setup to practice anytime in the comfort at home compared to the baroque days of a harpsichord on top of a harpsichord with no legs.
If you mean that any organs are a beast of an instrument then you should listen to paul feys version of the emperors fanfare WHOAH! that had me in total amazement
The organist on this video is superb, Metzger and bish are both great organists, I've seen Diane bishs work and yet I've visited the coral ridge Presbyterian church in Fort Lauderdale Florida USA and witnessed Samuel Metzgers organ works, also I've played the mighty ruffatti organ in the coral ridge Presbyterian church myself but just for interest sake
I don't think that I've ever heard a digital organ that has ever sounded so good. It gives me an idea of how good this arrangement could sound in a more reverberant space. Time to listen again.
Thanks very much! That’s the best compliment I could receive! 😃 The sound of this organ is the result of nearly three years of audio engineering research, so I am very happy that it is appreciated! 🙏🏻
Thanks, Rien! My instruments are evolving with me; every time I wake up with a new idea to improve their sound, I apply it and (sometimes) it works! Btw, I have listened on Qobuz to your "Tranquillo" album and loved it; a truly relaxing listening! ☺
A terrific piece, what a force, perfect playing! Long time ago that I really heard an appropriate new hymn arrangement that doesn't sound like the standard French romantic toccata.
Thanks, Ralph! Well, it sounds a little bit like a French Romantic Toccata… 😄 although Widor, Dubois, Vierne and Co. would have never dared to place such modulations in their pieces! 🥳
@@digitalpipes Firstly, you're always welcome to visit! Secondly, Diane is sadly NOT my neighbor, but I believe she lives in Florida on the west coast. But you should come visit anyways! 🙂
I am afraid such a sound will not be possible on the Cantorum Duo or Trio. The Ouverture in the video has 20 output channels, and an instance of reverb is at work on each of them, while the Cantorum has only 4 output channels.
SUPERB, MAGNIFICENT and INSPIRING ❤❤❤‼️ The organ sounds amazing!! Great voicing at work here for sure as it's powerful indeed and now I know why Bob Walker recommended a Viscount to me for a home organ since Walker Technical doesn’t build home organs. B R A V I S S I M O !!!!!
Honestly, I do not like Viscount organs. They generally sound terrible, fake and digital in the worst ways possible. My church's old Rodgers was replaced by an expensive viscount that sounds terrible and I wished for the money they spent; they would have got a real pipe instrument. I primarily use hauptwerk instead as a well sampled instrument that is then voiced correctly can truly sound like the real thing. Now with this being said, this Viscount is different. It actually performs well, and the samples seem to behave more as pipes should. I am very much impressed with the work you did to create this sound. If all viscounts sounded at this quality, I would be far less critical of them as this should be the standard. Would love to know how you did it.
Thanks for your comment. I am very sorry to hear that you have such a bad experience with a Viscount organ 😞. I agree that the voicing of the organ out of the box is less than optimal; however, the sound production technology that Viscount harbor in their instruments provides voicing possibilities and adjustments far bigger than sampled instruments. But to be able to take full advantage of this technology one must know a) how to use it and b) how to voice an organ. The latter, similarly to pipe organs, is of critical importance to make the organ shine in the place where it is installed. If the dealer/installer does not know how to voice, the fault is not of the organ. If you check this video th-cam.com/video/hLz8RvR2AnU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mTKgfgFSDzglD9f7 you can appreciate that one can achieve a decent result even with a small amplification system, if the voicing is carried out with some care and attention. In the case of the organ you see in this video, instead, I used only the core audio engine of Viscount and added a powerful audio chain to recreate the environment of a church that suits my taste. Sure thing is, the organ does not sound like this out of the box.
@@digitalpipes Thank you for your reply. I did take a chance to listen to the other video and it is a very nice sound I would expect out of a hauptwerk instrument. These should be the standard viscount should be shooting for out of the box. It is likely my church's viscount is not this level because it requires so much careful voicing and they just dont have the time or patience for it. Out of the box these organs sound so terrible and that should be changed for the company if they want to sell more of these organs. You do a better job as a salesman with your instruments than the official videos do. I still argue that my church should have gotten a real pipe instrument for what we invested in it as then the organ builder could have voiced it for the room instead.
You make some valid points about how disappointing a Viscount instrument can be 'out of the box' (and other manufacturers of digital organs as well) that Paolo has addressed comprehensively. I confess that I am probably Paolo's biggest fan. This is because I know of no-one else on the planet who has shown so convincingly how the potential of a Physis sound-generated instrument can be realised as a closer approximation to a real pipe organ than any sound sampled instrument, including Hauptwerk sample sets (of which I am a user and fan). No-one would buy a Ferrari and have it engineered to drive like a Trabant . . . and yet that is what dealers seem to be happy to do with Viscount Physis (and Physis plus) instruments. SUCH A SHAME! Your church should engage Paolo to come and transform your instrument, assuming you could afford to 'sponsor' his brilliance and expertise, LOL!
@@grahamtwist you are definitely my biggest fan and I surely do not deserve such a generous praise. You know, dear Graham, that I am and amateur organist and voicer who is just switching on his ears when it’s time to setup a digital organ 😃

No disrespect intended but I never understood the Diane Bish attraction. I preferred Metzger. I've attended CRPC online for years.

Indeed, we are very lucky that today’s technology provides some many interesting possibilities 😊
That is just Boss level. I always loved it when the choir sang this hymn. Hearing it like this is awesome in its own way.
Thanks very much! 😃
All hail the memory of the late great Virgil Fox!! 🦊 This is a magnificent beast of an instrument by the way.

"'O Come O Come Emmanuel"...one of my favourite Christmas hymns, played here with excellence!

My fav Christmas hymn!
Always when you pull the octave couplers, the party really gets going😀👍.
Very appealing arrangement and fantastic sounding organ!
Octave couplers are the best stop of the organ! 🤣 Not sure that the priests in my church share my opinion, though! 😂 Thanks for dropping by!
