I’ve owned one of these for a few years now and love it! I bought another version of the PRG-600 and plan on grabbing a 650 next month. If you have skinny wrists, it’ll look a bit….off but normal men are fine. I’m in my mid 50’s and a retired Army Infantry NCO and a quality watch is a concern for us, I like to have a back up option and a watch I can depend in. The only issue I have is the luminous dial face, have to cover that up at night because it’s like waving around a spotlight to our enemy when wearing night vision devices. One way we deal with a luminous watch is the wear it on our uniform blouse/shirt where it hangs upside down on a pocket flap but is kept inside the pocket when not reading, this is a technique my predecessors did in Vietnam. Remember, once the inventory of this watch dries up on primary sales sites, the price will be nearly double on places like eBay when you finally decide to get one and that’s hoping it isn’t beat up by a previous owner. And contrary to what people think, the Army doesn’t issue watches to leaders anymore, they quit that around 1989 or so. In 1980 the Army decided to change from a quality Hamilton watch to a cheaper and almost disposable plastic version and along with that, the Soldiers trained to repair watches were re-classified into other MOS’s since we no longer required watch repairs. For my watch I bought an aftermarket nylon band for my own preference on Amazon and went with an OD green nylon band to keep it as military looking as possible.
I have the PRG-600Y-1CR that I got for $215 last year and really like it. I put a tempered glass screen protector over the crystal to keep it safe. It is my most accurate non-Multiband 6 or Bluetooth Casio. I measured it at +4 in 31 days.
thanks for the good review and clear explanation on this watch...actually i ordered 1 of these Protrek- PRG-650y-1CR, besides have 1 GSHOCK-GBD-H1000 for a change of Casio product. this will be my very 1st Protrek...since i loved the Gshocks Tough solar watches...thanks for this review
I just recently got back into Casios, particularly G shocks. They are really great watches that can take real abuse. I like this Casio you just showed. Enjoy!
Amazon had one of these with a golden tone a few months ago for $144. It wasn't a color way I wanted, so I passed, but I kind of keep kicking myself for passing. Also, Sam's has one of these versions for $189 in my stores. Not sure if it's a 600 or 650. Cool watches.
6 is cut hard. Seem like after they constructed it decided to cut some digitals in it. Similar to mudmaster, the thermometer is not correct to measure outside temperature if you wear the watch - it measures the temperature of your wrist. Correct me if appropriate. Thanks for sharing.
Lately I’ve been really wanting a quartz watch! Been thinking about a seiko sne498 and maybe later on maybe a really fancy quartz maybe like grand seiko or somethig

I finally ordered an old school Rangeman last night. While looking at all the features a triple sensor watch offers, I was blown away!

I bought this watch from Jalan earlier this year when it became scarce in the states. love this watch. It’s easily one of my favorites.

Also, it has the best illuminator out of any watch I’ve seen. The Pro Trek line is no joke.

You should try one of those complex Oceanus models.

Go for it. The Seiko sne499 and like models are great. Also look at some high end Casio and citizen as a more affordable option vs GS.

Not big into quartz or digital, but I love my Pro Trek.
Finally a Casio I like except for that cut out 6 and Pro Trek font. But why a mineral crystal on a 600 bucks watch. Such a shame really.

Do you find your MTG rattles a bit on the rotating end caps that covers the screws for the strap?
My caps just seem to free-wheel. Not really a big deal.
