This is a tribute to Les Paul after he died. He used to play at the Iridium. Guitar player is Lou Pallo.
Piano player swings awesome and does it like he's in his sleep...
He plays like Oscar Peterson and looks like a guy from a hair pomade ad.
He admits a lot of influences: Teddy Wilson, Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson...came up working with the aged Lionel Hampton. No substitute for taste and experience.
Yeah, I think I saw him yawn about half way through.
This reminds me of the New Yorker review of "The Godfather" - it was a role that Lee J. Cobb could, and often did, play in his sleep.
