I agree that SQS was the strongest team this week but that TJV was more technically proficient and that was the difference. Remco still learning that it is not always the strongest that wins...Great week of racing though and a great appetizer for the Giro!

And he's right to be cautious. Fear is maybe a strong word, but caution and fear aren't always that far apart. Compare Roglic's riding style here to Pogacar in Paris-Nice, one plays it safe and wins the GC by 6 seconds and one just all out attacks every stage. Who do you think is afraid?

Ngl im finding it very hard to be cheering for Remco because of things like this and his behaviour both on and off the road. Especially when the vast bast majority of the cyclists are super humble and respectable to each other. Once a footballer...
Very good start to the year for Roglic. This new rivalry between him and Remco is a fantastic companion to Pog vs Jonas. My take for the Giro is that Remco's aggressive approach will eventually catch Rog off guard, and will gain some time on him. He's just too dynamic and powerful for Roglic to just play defense for 3 weeks. I think Remco will also take time in the time trial.
it depends who leader on GC, last year primoz was 2 min behind and he was attacking and riding very aggresively before his crash. If hes the leader hell ride deffensively most likely, and if hes behind remco then it is very certain he will attack.
Hey @LanternRouge! I enjoy your videos for 2 years now I think and they sparked my interest in pro cycling immensely! As a non native english speaker I sometimes struggle to fully understand what you're saying, especially with all the riders names in between. So if you ever think how you can "improve" or change your videos, maybe you could add subtitles. I know it would probably be a lot of extra effort not necessarily needed, but it's a suggestion.
I think we've got a treat in stire in the GTs this year. Roglic and Evenepoel head to head at the Giro, and maybe the Vuelta? And then another Pogacar Vingegaard rematch at the Tour. Add this to the WVA/ VDP match ups in the classics as well, and this really could be one of the greatest seasons ever.
Feel like this Volta is gonna have been great for the Giro. Both teams feeling each other out. Will be v interesting if Remco pulls a lead out after TT's and Roglic has to attack.
I think UAE have a big problem. It does not seem that Almeida and Soler are in any way on the same page. It looks more like Ameida was afraid he was going to lose spot 3 to his teammate. What Adam Yates is doing is beyond me. I hope his form will increase so he is able to put his stamp on the team and both Almeida and Soler just fall into line. This must be just annoying for Adam. To not be able to do that already. And somebody needs to tell Remco that there is such a thing as team tactics in cycling and that that is more than just burning through your team till the last steep part. That worked with US Postal and Sky, but those days are over. And you can win with that tactic when you are racing under 23 but not at the pros, remember the European Championships when his companion said thank you for pulling for me all the way to the finish? It makes for exciting racing but you will not win a lot.
Won't win a lot apart from a monument, a Grand Tour, the Rainbow Jersey, San Sebastian and a couple of other stage races as well a bunch of stages and ITTs. Last year!

Almeida is like the Quintana of teammates, while I enjoy his ability to pace long climbs and come back often, his unwillingness to give up 3rd on GC to Soler was theft. They were equal all week. Soler even gave up time to help JA one of the mts, UAE antics keep rockin'

Roglic let Evenepoel do most of the work to minimize the risk of getting dropped. With GC secured, he probably felt that it would have been too greedy to contest the stage win as well.

I watched the race and there was a rider between Remco and Roglic as long as they were some Soudal domestiques, but the moment Remco only had one domestique, Roglic was firmly in the wheel, even with Jumbo team mates in his draft. So Roglic rode, positionally, a very attentive race and was hard to surprise.

Remco coloured this race. Roglic riding a bit like a coward, always in the wheel untill last km. And yes I know primoz didn't have to pull as he was the leader and it was te smartest thing to do. But man, seeing the other big riders like remco, tadej, wout, mvdp... They always ride, and make it a beautiful race! I put primoz in that list of great riders, he's great. But damn, has he become a boring rider..

Pogacar and Roglic... they like to ride wheels... they don't like to pull. Is this the mark of a champion? No. If you are strong and deserve to be called "champion", then ride llike a champion and show us you don't need a wheel to win. I know, I know, drafting, conserve energy, it's part of racing, yada, yada. I get it but do you get my point?

When Pog breaks with another rider, he pulls for a little but then weasels to the side, as if feigning fatigue. Tactics? Bullshite. Most recently with Evenepoel. I like Pog but I won't be a blind fanboy.
@@user-cx2bk6pm2f If Pog is leading GC, yes he may not pull. Like it happened in Paris-Nice with Jonas. It was purely tactical. It would be crazy to give a pull to your direct GC opponent when you are leading and Pog races smart. But in oneday races Pog always pulling like this year Milan- San Remo (Pog, WVA & Ganna) and E3 Saxo Classic (Pog, WVA & MvdP) and Flanders last year (Pog & MvdP).
Pogačar would never forfeit the sprint. Roglič is weak, weak. He is gonna make cycling look weak.

Remco coloured this race. Roglic riding a bit like a coward, always in the wheel untill last km. And yes I know primoz didn't have to pull as he was the leader and it was te smartest thing to do. But man, seeing the other big riders like remco, tadej, wout, mvdp... They always ride, and make it a beautiful race! I put primoz in that list of great riders, he's great. But damn, has he become a boring rider..
Roglic rode a great race.
But it won't be so 'simple' in the major Tours, I reckon.
