I put 2-4 cups of vinager in my washing machine with a load of laundry of course. The detergent olimanates the vinager smell, but desolves oils and dirt to brighten clothes and gives it a clean smell. Adding fabric softener adds a lot more freshness and longer fresh smell. Love it. I've done this for years. Note: more soiled and smelly clothes I add more vinager to my load.

I do the same but will add a cup of baking soda along with a cup of vinegar (or peroxide) to whiten the whites. It uses the same oxygenation process as oxi clean but works better. Make sure to add the vinegar and baking soda to the water before adding the clothes

The person who said vinegar smell disappears once the vinegar dries is RIGHT! It actually is great as a house freshener because it destroys odors instead of covering them. Granted you don't get instant results because of the vinegar smell but that lasts only a few minutes. Cheaper than anti-odor sprays and MUCH safer to breathe.

Vinegar is also great for cleaning stainless steel pots and pans when you get that build up, especially when boiling water. If you let the vinegar soak for a while, it makes your pots look brand new.

I rinse my hair with a 2 litre bottle of warm water and 2 tablespoons of vinegar for shine and silky smoothness approx every 2 weeks. 1 part vinegar 2 parts warm water soak also eliminates soap fabric softner build up in towels when they lose their soft fluffiness. Then launder as usual.

You might want to mention that the vinegar is going to foam up like crazy when you add the baking soda, especially when it's that much of it. If the user doesn't use a large receptacle, it's going to foam up all over the counter and/or floor.

I actually just started using cleaning vinegar around the house to test out and see if it actually is able to remove anything at all more effectively, compared to other things, such as ammonia, etc. I was extremely pleased to learn that used to pretreat laundry stains, primarily blood it is freaking awesome. Put it full strength in a spray bottle. Be careful if you rub the fabric together, use a pair of gloves. Cleaning vinegar is much stronger than you realize and this gentle scrubbing and rubbing motion for stains will leave you with raw patches on your fingers.
Cleaning vinegar used in a spray bottle or added in a mixture along with a small amount of liquid dish soap also makes an amazing cleaning agent for kitchen sinks, bathroom sinks, counters, stoves, etc. Plus, it cuts the greasy kitchen residues and food grimes that can build up on the sides of the kitchen sink. This and a loop around the sink a time or two with your scrubbie, and BOOM, all done.
Makes all the difference in the world for cleaning up certain household chores.
Make CERTAIN that you don't purchase vinegar from the grocery section of the store and use that, it's NOT the same thing at all. You HAVE to purchase CLEANING VINEGAR, which is much much stronger, and more acidic.
    Happy cleaning. :)

After I added a ton of vinegar in my toilet. My eyes burn when I was setting on it trying to poo. So I would add more vinegar and more tears came. I added vinegar everyday for a week. And then I would try to sit on it and poo it was horrible. So I stopped and I got constipated. So I suggest add vinegar everyday but rent a room at a motel to use the bathroom

I have been using this method for years to clean my toilet as I have quite a lot lime in my tapwater ! - first I push as much water out of the toilet bowl as possible using a toilet brush and then I pour the vinegar in then I place some pieces of toilet tissue inside the toilet bowl, which will stick to the sides once they get wet from the vinegar, then I let it soak while I go to work and when I get home I just flush the toilet and it's nearly in pristine condition and the best part is that this method is not as bad for the environment as if one is using a chemical cleaning agent.

It's the Acetic acid that makes it work so well. Another tip: mix white vinegar and 70% isopropyl alcohol 50/50 for a disinfectant cleaning mixture that works well on glass, countertops, and even your ear canals! Doctor recommended, believe it or not!
One more tip: never try to get rid of mold with bleach. Use white vinegar instead, apply to wet the surface and let dry. Do it two or three times and then clean off the mold. The Acetic acid will leach into the roots of the mold and kill them completely where bleach will not and the mold will come back, often worse than before.

You can just as easily prevent the very rust stains you'd be cleaning over and over again by putting a whole hose filter on your incoming water line before the line branches for your water heater. I did it in a house that had limescale and rust in every water fixture when I moved in, and haven't had to clean a spot of rust out of a fixture after the first time. Even the stains I couldn't get out eventually went away on their own because there was no new material to deposit.

Vinegar is also popular with the Penanggalan which is a detached female head capable of flying about on its own. As it flies, the stomach and entrails dangle below it, and these organs twinkle like fireflies as the Penanggalan moves through the night (much like the Japanese Nukekubi). They use the vinegar to shrink their entrails to fit them back into the neck hole. Vinegar! So many uses!

Not a lot of magic here. Vinegar is a mild form of acetic acid which is low pH. Mixing baking soda with it which is high pH causes the mixture to produce a great deal of oxidation which will clean. However the use is excellent. I am going to try some in my toilets to see if it will eat the hardness that happens when water evaporates.
    That is a great application....

I can say with experience that vinegar has definitely kept that limescale out of my toilet.- and it's tons cheaper than CLR or Lime Away. Just takes more time. I pour a couple tablespoons in at the end of the night, and works great. Cleans my fixtures and shower heads, too. We have some very hard water in Florida. Lots o' calcium in it to build up.

    • @Marny5580

Here on the other coast, too. It shocked me that it works, plus is good to eat. Oil and Vinegar (if Wine Vinegar is not available) on a salad. A tad in cole slaw is great, too. Oh, and I used a bit of white vinegar, baking soda, and mixed with toothpaste and rub-a-dub-dub on my car headlights with a handbrush. Made a huge difference! I usually buy Heinz for food stuff - and the cheaper/on sale stuff for cleaning. Or mix and match. Also, a tad of white vinegar in a load of laundry ... helps on many levels.

My hair doesn't smell when using the vinegar and borax or baking soda! Although I do smell the vinegar tho but it doesn't cause issues as of now.

not quite right, vinegar + baking soda = water + carbon dioxide + sodium acetate. sodium acetate has a ph of 4-6, so it is still acidic and can be useful, but vinegar is more acidic and works faster. however, sodium acetate might not smell like vinegar, havent tried but if so that would be a plus for most. i dont mind the smell

You just gave me an idea. A face washing device that is the size and shape of a regular adult human face and squirts out water which rinses your face of any soap when you are doing your morning hygiene. Comes compact with a facial scrub brush which you pour your soap on to apply to the face. Comes attached with a tube that runs water incase you want to brush your teeth also. All you have to do is point the tube into the mouth after a quick brush and voila. Also morphs into a steam device that you can place your face over in order to open your pores prior to the wash. Who wants to sponsor my idea?!

I found vinegar a great foot-soak. I have rough and peeling skin between toes and foot. Athletes foot. Vinegar softens the skin. Light solution ( an ounce vinegar to two litres works fine.
I think the dry skin calcifies and reacts with acetic acid.

  • @AlucardPeach
    @AlucardPeach 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I absolutely do not recommend soaking your fingers in vinegar for 10 minutes unless you want EXTREMELY dry skin. That said, a nail dehydrator before polish does actually help the polish adhere longer. Nails have natural oils (I was a little surprised to learn that, as nails are made of keratin like hair is and the oil in hair is from sebum production on the scalp, but back to it...) and those oils can cause your nail polish (hopefully you're applying a base coat, so I should say "can cause your base coat") to separate from your nail bed. Side note here- I honestly used to think that base coat and top coat were pretty much just clear nail polish, and a gimmick to get you to buy more products, but I was dead wrong. Base coat is like using a primer before painting your walls - it helps the paint to adhere. Top coat is like shellac, smoothing out the surface of the polish and putting a protective sealant. Don't trust anything labeled as "base plus top coat" - those are gimmicky BS- the 2 things are completely different in formula and function, but using them will definitely make your manicure last longer. Ok, so, you can buy nail dehydrator, but basically it's isopropyl alcohol, so save your money and just use alcohol - or vinegar, as it actually does work to dehydrate the nail bed. It's best to use qtips (ok, so that's a brand name, so "cotton swabs") - dip them into your isopropyl alcohol or vinegar (white or apple cider, they both work) & "paint" your nails with the dipped qtips. I use both ends of 1 qtip per nail, and separate ones for each finger. I personally prefer alcohol, not because it works any better - they work equally well - but because I absolutely hate the smell of vinegar. I hope this helps anyone looking to keep their nail polish looking good for as long as possible!
Side tip- leave a small gap at the bottom of the nail, and on the sides - don't let the base/color/topcoat touch your cuticle or skin, as that contact with the skin can cause the polish to peel up.

White vinegar & baking soda clean out sluggish drains too. Add 2-3 tablespoons of baking sofa into the drain. Then pour a cup of vinegar down the drain. It will start to bubble. This solution cleans a lot of the slug stuck in the drain. Then run hot water. You will notice the difference right away. Try it!!
