Can you make a video showing the benefits of Microsoft 365 for organizations? I'm glsd to have a Edu Microsoft 365 account. But I'm having trouble convincing or showing my supervisors about why Microsoft 365 would be essential to our organization, especially such as with Microsoft Power Automate. I love your videos KEVIN!
I was looking for videos on how to use Whisper AI and this video showed up on the side panel. Over time, I've learned to watch your videos first over other suggestions, because you are on the spot and go straight to the point. Your tutorial not only it saved me a lot of time from setting up the required software environment for python and Whisper, going thru the learning curve, testing, and actually waiting for the process to run thru a 1h+ audio of a meeting, but the final product from Word was excellent and possibly better than the alternative. Plus, now I have a simple procedure that anybody at work can follow, not only IT personnel. I transcribed the audio of a meeting with 9 speakers and was able to identify each one perfectly, following the steps you showed. Thank you very much.
God bless, Kevin!! Not only did you save me so much time, but you also saved me a fortune. FYI, I was able to use Word to transcribe a TWO HOUR meeting.
Love this tip. I found it helpful for creating and uploading transcript captions for TH-cam videos too - the only issue I run across is speaker/audio file length - I think once an audio file is longer than 13-14 min, Word tells me the file is too big to transcribe 😢
I cannot see the dictate or transcribe functions on my version of MS word (Mac) (have checked Ribbons and Toolbar settings). Does that mean my version of MS word is too old?
Can you tell me if it has Roumanian language to translate in to? And the text used in this version , is supported on an old version ? I want to use this at home , and then move the text on the word from office, because i don't have the posibility to have this word at office. Thank you❤
A great tutorial. It's such a pity that once you've created the transcript, you can't share the document with audio with other people. It's also a pity that there is much greater functionality if you record the audio (live) directly into Word as the text being read out later is highlighted in Word. Again a real pity that if you share the finished document, the audio file isn't linked to the document , so when you share it , they just get the text and have no simple means of following the audio synchronised. Something for Microsoft to add as an enhancement to Office 365?
This must be a newer version of word. I have 2013 and the home screen looks nothing like the home screen you are showing. Is there another way to transcribe a recorded phone call, converted to mp3, into text without spending a lot of money on something I might use 2 or 3 times? Thank you
Hi Kevin, I can't find this feature on my Word applications, both under Windows and on Mac. I can find it on the web version of Word. Is it a new feature still reserved to Insiders, or maybe it is restricted to users for certain countries? My office 365 is in French
It's not perfect, but it's very convenient. For me, Word transcribed more accurately than Whisper AI using the small model in my language which is Swedish. I couldn't try the medium and large model with Whisper due to limited memory. So thankfully, MS Word did the trick in my particular case. Btw, I gave up on Colaboratory after problems uploading the files or mounting Drive.
Press the windows key + shift + L and that opens live captions in windows. It’ll give captions for any audio on your pc or sound through your mic and display on screen.
Thank you for sharing! I had no idea 365 had this ability. I tried it with a WAV file and it saved SO much time. Now I only need to edit some words because Spanish was mixed in the conversation. I appreciate you sharing your research and knowledge.🙂
Is there a software, preferably free, other then Microsoft Word and not browser or AI based, that converts audio to text. I just did a search and all I could find was browser or AI based options. I don't have Microsoft Word, that's why I'm asking.
I am an IT guy in my office. Someone on my team was looking to transcribe some audio files, so I Googled and realized it was built in to Word. I followed the instructions, which are the same as you present here. I tested it and it worked just like they needed it to. I told them about the feature, but their Word doesn't have the option for Transcribe, just Dictate. I again Googled what's up, and I've seen several people referencing that the feature is only available in the online version of Word. Except, I'm not using the online version of Word. Any ideas? Our whole office is on Office 365.
Hi Doug, I was able to add it using Customize the Ribbon, then in Choose commands from, change to All in the dropdown. I had to create a New Group as my Word requested a Custom Group. I named the group Voice2 and it appears as Voice2(Custom), then dragged it to appear under Voice on the rightmost menu for Customize the Ribbon. Highlight your new Voice2(Custom) group, then on the All Commands menu, scroll down until you see Transcribe and choose Add to move it into your Group.
Hey, I have Word on my MacBook and can't find the Transcribe option there, I only see the Dictate one. Could it be that this feature is not included in the Mac version?
Hi, you may use the web version, it should work like the way it did in the video the problem for your case maybe is because the word that you installed was outdated or just because the mac doesnt support, web version can solve your problem
I tried this but a message was displayed saying this' We couldn't find a work or school account with that email address. I do have a Microsoft 365 subscription. What am I doing wrong?
It seems that my uploaded files are in the "transcribed files" folder. But how do I add them to a Word document after the fact? I don't see the sidebar on the right anymore, and if I open it again, the only option seems to upload the file again, which will go off the minutes of my monthly upload budget for transcribing files. How do I add them to a new Word document now? Where can I find the transcribed text, because all I see in that "transcribed files" folder is the audio files.
I am having the problem that this feature loads the audio file (not a large file) to 94% and proceeds no further. When googling this on the Microsoft site, many people have this exact situation. Microsoft offers no solution. I tried different computers. Any fixes you know of?
I found that your solution works perfectly. My only problem is that while the transcribing is going on, I cannot use any other software, etc. The cursor needs to remain in Notepad (in this instance). Any advice?
Thanks so much for this! I'm currently trying to transcribe an interview for my Spanish class, and it's taking a really long time, so this is a big help!
Good evening. I have a strange Microsoft question. I just started studying law and we are requered to use the SAJHR(South African Journal on Human Rights) referencing style. Is it possible to upload this referencing style to Microsoft Word?
0:43 "Over on the right-hand side on the ribbon, there's a category called voice" - no, there isn't. How do I get "voice" to be there, or is "voice" only available on certain versions?
Good content, Kevin. It would be a pleasure if you review Kdenlive video editor. I have been combing TH-cam for you on this, but to no avail. Are gonna help us out?
Captured a snatch of Kevin's video, but found that I couldn't delete the OneDrive wav file. OneDrive implied it couldn't because it didn't exist (sic). Feedback sent to MS. Anyone else discover this 'bug'? Otherwise, a brilliant addition, with immense language learning possibilities. Great instruction, as ever, Kevin.
I ran identical files through and found that Whisper is currently more accurate. That said, Word has a nicer and easier to use UX. This is as of May 30, 2023 and could change in the future.
Help Kevin!!!!! So thank you for this video. I need to transcribe an audio recording to text for an upcoming hearing. Very important. I purchased Microsoft office 365. Downloaded it. Go into word and I do not have the dictate & transcribe icons. I'm going to believe it's something simple. Please advise. Thank you. Sharman
Thank you so much Kevin, your videos are excellent !! You are a great Teacher and I always learn so much in these master classes. Thank you today and always. Best Regards.

You've made my work a lot easier as I now only do edits instead of typing for a very long time and you've cut my workload by half. Thank you sir.
My mobile version won't do the transcribe function. It has dictation and voice to text but not ability to upload mp3 files for transcribing.
来た。Thanks!
and it had to be 8mins long

which version of word did you use for it ?
Great video. But at the end you said "Onedrive" instead of "Onenote" 😁.
Yeah, I noticed while transcribing the video, but was too far along to edit at that point ☹️ good catch!

I have just transcribed an audio file that is 1 hour and 23 minutes long. Perhaps they have improved the transcription function recently.
@@KC_79 awesome!!
I cannot see the dictate or transcribe functions on my version of MS word (Mac) (have checked Ribbons and Toolbar settings). Does that mean my version of MS word is too old?
You are probably using the 2021 version this feature only comes in Microsoft 365 subscription.
I couldn't find the transcribe on my Microsoft Word. There is no Voice tab :(
It is only available in Word Online.
Hi, what is the audio file size limit for upload ?
I was just able to get a 2 hour meeting transcribed!
Hey Kevin can you make a video about how to make ID cards for multiple employees together (Batch processing).
Can you tell me if it has Roumanian language to translate in to?
And the text used in this version , is supported on an old version ? I want to use this at home , and then move the text on the word from office, because i don't have the posibility to have this word at office. Thank you❤
Why I can't see that option in my latest version
can you transcribe incoming VoIP calls using this method? thank you for the video.

I’ve been using Microsoft 365 for years, but only found out about this feature now! Thanks a lot for this video!!!
I learn new things each time I watch your videos. You ate duch an awesome presenter! Thank you so much.
Thanku it helped me a lot
Thank you Kevin. You are awesome. - from Dubai UAE
I Love You from Bangladesh
Thanks a bunch, Kevin 🤩❤️
Thank you very much for sharing this incredibly useful info! Saved me a ton of trouble.
Thanks Kev! Can I ask if this transcription still has limitations? Many thanks!

Great Video if it is possible to do this same thing in Libre Office could you make a video on how to do that thanks
It's rubbish! It's that Microsoft 365 crap. Doesn't have it in office 2021. I don't waste my time with office 365 rubbish!
how did you make it pick up on your punctuation? its works for me but all the audio is in one lot, and distinct between 2 voices
What if you have purchased a copy of Microsoft word?
Is there a different platform or option for this other than Microsoft?
This isn't working for me. It says ineligible where you are clicking on edit and publish???
where's the FUCKING transcribe button now
Thanks soo much. Can you do the same in Google Docs?
Awesome as usual. Thanks Kevin.
Any way to transcribe a live video, without importing it into word?
Press the windows key + shift + L and that opens live captions in windows. It’ll give captions for any audio on your pc or sound through your mic and display on screen.
i can not find trascribe at home tab.
Yeah same
Thank you. Very informative and useful. You wanted to say OneNote, not OneDrive at the end.

I believe that windows has a built-in transcription feature, but idk if it works on windows 10

Hey Kevin or anyone else that could know, what monitor are you using?
I have a dell ultrasharp 43 inch as my primary monitor and a 27 inch as my secondary.
Am I the only one who didnt find the option?
Is there an audio device with the built-in transcriber and or diction ability?
It is not possible in MS Word. Only in 365 office
Oh that’s good to know! Thanks Kevin 😎
Thank you Kevin 🤗

Does the Word Mobile App have the Transcribe functionality?
What languages does it support?
I have access to the dictate and transcribe buttons, mic is working but it's not transcribing, what am I doing wrong?
This doesnt work with LTSC versions. It simply doesn't have such options
But how do you transcribe a video? I don’t want to speak, I want to play the video and let an app transcribe it.
Why would I not have a transcribe button? I’m subbed to MS 365!
This guy looks a little bit too much like Tom Brady I'm afraid!
Can we do same process for writing Equations or Maths problems.
Hi, when I try to open Word doc people shared with me it always in read only made. How to fix this? Help
Unfortunately, Word's transcription tool is awful for bigger projects
fantastic thank you for saving me a bundle and time looking for a reliable progragram it works great !
I don't seem to have a voice tab with an option to upload? I have a 365 sub?

Found the solution. Needed to use Chrome, I was using Safari. The features now appear.
I cannot find the language that I need so can I add my required language to the transcribe list?
did you find a solution to this? I need the transcription in spanish and all it says is "undefined" ugh
