We added little ginger... We made Arisi upma in vengala panai.... Konjam perungayam thookala pottom. Excellent . We made with nallenai. That was also tasty. We ate with thengai thuvayal. Thanks for sharing this useful recepie

Sure vl try.. Rice rava should be roasted?? As you said to keep it for 5 to 6 minutes.. No whistle is required??
No need to roast the rava. also no need to wait for whistles sound.. just switch off after 6 minutes.You can use supermarket rice rava, but it may be very fine.. next time when you grind at home make it slightly coarse for upma

Sapna, this upma is quite filling and is very often eaten on amavasya or Ekadasi days where people eat only a "tiffin" like idli, dosa etc and not the regular meal. hence i suppose it is a complete nutritive value with both carb and protein, some people add moong dal also

We can do that too lavanya.. just that it is softer when we make after soaking.. I have already used it a couple of times recently, I find it very useful

Amma we make this dish but take a further step . after making the upma slightly cool it and then make small balls pressing a dimple in centre.steam these balls for 5- 10 minutes . Serve these with warm coconut oil and coconut chutney. These are called 'Undis'
