Wow bro! Thanks for sharing! I always think that they charge too much. I just did the brakes and 3 oils here in my garage. And I always adjust the clutch when I change the oil. Nice bike! Ride safe!
Yeah the prices are somewhat high. I'm thinking of doing the dot4 fluid myself and saving a few dollars, well more like $150.00. Thank for stopping by brother 🙏 be safe out there.
I am definitely going to an Indy shop. I got dinged for a rear tite swap for the tune of $550. I could have bought the tire fof $200 and had it swapped for $80.
@@AkaBullLooking around my area there is now a shop called 8 Balls Motorcycle Tires. National chain. Looks like a Jiffy Lube place. The prices are fantastic. Will be going there for my front tire. Not doing a $500 front tire swap!
I will start off by saying I am not a mechanic. That being said I would definitely get a second opinion. I did not hear or see the year of your bike or did you show the condition of the rear tire but, a new tire at 5000 miles, Brake fluid flush? Unless your bike sits outside uncovered all year and is a few years old, why the need for that. Do you do burnouts and smoke the tires or is the tire aged out? they say replace after 5 to 6 years even if tread wear looks good do to age. Bike looks well kept and again I don't know the age but, how did you get moisture in brake fluid unless its older than it looks and it sits outside absorbing moisture? I just had front and rear cheaper shinko brand 777 white wall tires put on my last bike earlier this spring. Cost of both tires and put on and balanced was around 500$ at a local independent power sports shop. The Harley dealership I bought my current bike showed me that I wouldn't feel very trustworthy of them after just a few conversations I had with them. Said they needed my bike for a least a full day to do the 1000 mile check and oil change. I ended up going to another dealer and got GREAT friendly service. took a little over 2 hours to do the 1000 mile service while I waited and the mechanic came out and meet me and went over the bike with me and answered all my questions. I would go to a local bike night and talk with a few people about your bike and see what they think. Just to get another perspective. Good luck!!!
@@Livie103 The bike is a 2021 low rider. In winter it stays in the garage. As for the tire, a local shop said they’ll do it for $300.00 that’s tire and install. For whatever reason the Harley Dealerships think we just have money falling out our butt and they can charge whatever they want.
Yeah, that's an important one. I ran for almost 5k with it testing at 5% before I had it done, because I had JUST had it done 5k miles prior, and didn't have an extra $250 to spend. AkaBull - if you have ABS, it's worthwhile having the dealer do it - something about connecting to the computer to do the flush without breaking stuff - I'm sure Nore can explain it better than I can.
Interesting info - your labor rates are lower but your prices are higher there. Go figure. Sounds about right for H-D dealerships though. I miss my $150 full service on my Vulcan 800!
Well if you think the labor is low, I wouldn't want to see what they are charging in DE. At this point I think every dealership that isn't a Harley one is way cheaper. My friend has a 2024 BMW 1000RR And his was $200 total. I couldn't believe it until he showed be the bill. Thanks for stopping by John, appreciate you 🙏. Ride safe brother 🙏 👍 💙 👌
@@AkaBull Yeah, H-D dealers are expensive. They're in-line with the car dealers for labor rates around here, around $150/hr I think? Dang, $200 at a BMW dealer of any kind just sounds ridiculously cheap! Stay well & ride safe, man!
@@AkaBull Yeah, it sucks... but the dealer I'm working with now has better scheduling, does good work, and I have a good rapport with them. There's a lot to be said for that.
@@RoadReality Going forward, I wanna start doing most of the easier stuff myself so I can save a few buck. My dealership priced me a tire with labor $522. I did some shopping around and found the tire for $107.00 cheaper and labor for $50.
Damn! I’m sorry brother. It’s best to let them do it unfortunately, but the next service you don’t have to necessarily go to the dealership, you can do to a mom and pop. That’s what I’m doing my next service.
Yeah Harley recommends doing it every 2 years, some mechanics i spoke to said you really don't need to doing it every 2 years in fact 5 years is just fine.

With your brake fluid being at 4%, I recommend you flush that soon. That's a lot of moisture in the lines that you dont want.
Thanks Brother 🙏🏾, I'm looking at doing it next week. I'm thinking about doing it myself tho, save a hundred bucks or so. Thanks for stopping by 🤛🏽👌🏼
