Thats actually genius id never have thought they were made that way and how easy they are to make ive to try this this channels awesome im loving all these really unique & different recipes🙂 I got to try the pine made sprite you made to😁
You can also use a food processor. I tried using a stand mixer but it didn’t work for some reason so I used a food processor. Although I added a little bit of water to it. Maybe it didn’t work because the rice wasn’t warm enough?
You should also add a bit of water so it doesn’t get stiff in the hand mixer!! That’s what we do when pounding rice in Japan to make it silky and smooth
After days of trying, I didn’t make a success of the Japanese recipe, but today I tried the Korean version and I ground the rice before steaming and it was a success! I finally FINALLY made good and chewy homemade rice cakes! Thanks a lot for this video! I’ve been looking for this recipe for almost a year now 🙃 the other recipes (even in Korean) wasn’t that chewy
I mean honestly most Korean and Japanese food have been made in both cultures each culture changing it a little For example sushi is now something Korean Same thing with rice cakes So honestly most of the food of korea could be inspired by Japanese and same thing for Japanese food
No way did Ms. Shi just blow my mind! I just got a stand mixer. I am so excited. Thank you so much! I don't always feel like traveling the 60 miles tp the Korean store.
THIS IS THE BEST RECIPE EVER GUYS IF YOU'RE HESITANT DONT BE! Here's a note . Note:- if it's not going well when you're kneading it or the machine is (like if it's not becoming a dough or blending well) IT MOST LIKELY BECAUSE IT GOT COLD!! so heat it up whenever the rice gets cold!, 30 seconds!, It helped me a lot because I was becoming really upset and losing hope into making this one work ITS SO STRETCHY AND CHEWY I EJBDKWJDJBWDJSHJDNDDJJDJDKNDKWJOWKOSDK Edit:- I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT IT SHRINKS, SO IF YOU ADDED 1 CUP YES ITLL DOUBLE INTO 2 CUPS BUT ITLL SHRINK BACK AGAIN INTO 1 CUP!
I made it in the same way 😭 it turned out so perfect .. even I try it before by someone else's method but that time they turned like so hard ..but by your method it turned out so good 😭❤ thanks unnie

was it just regular rice flour or glutinous rice flour? ive seen that glutinous rice flour works better but regular rice flour is much cheaper and easier to find
i have a problem, when my stand mixer finished, it didnt turn into a dough. It was really stickly and sloppy -,- I eventually fixed it by addibg 2 cups of flour and a bit extra on my hands but I was wondering how i can make it better next time I try this?
Hello Ms. Shi! I just wanted to let you know I made your peach mochi recipe, and it is the best mochi I've ever had. Instead of just doing peach jam, I mixed in some strawberries and made a bit of custard from your donut recipe to add to the whipped cream! Thank you so much for your food blog and recipes!!!
I’ve been looking for tteokbokki on Amazon and anytime I’m about to buy something I read the reviews and when I read them people said they smelled and they were moldy so I’m so glad I can make it myself and it’s so easy

I'm so grateful for this recipe!! My local Asian market store doesn't always have rice cakes, I'm excited to try making it this weekend!!
Hope you like it!
How was it?
When you don’t have a stand mixer so you have to mix for 40 minutes by hand😀
At least punch the dough for 4 hours by hand 🤣 People actually make rice cakes by hand-punching before the stand mixer was invented.
For 4 hrs 🙄😳😳
If you have mortar/pounder, you can pound the rice with that
You can also use a food processor. I tried using a stand mixer but it didn’t work for some reason so I used a food processor. Although I added a little bit of water to it. Maybe it didn’t work because the rice wasn’t warm enough?
@@msshiandmrhe question I looked at the link but there’s no exact measurements it’s great but it would be more helpfull

Will it work with long grain rice?
So you ground the rice then steamed it then kneaded it . Did I get that right I tried so many recipes I really wanna make it finally work
Can we eat it right after creating them without having to cook them in the oven ?
