Just bought the 2023 bike, number one reason was the price, what a bargain! No brainer in my eyes. Then I also love the look of it, like a smooth inline 4, plenty of power and up and down quickshifter! I don't need or want all the fancy electronics so would be a waste of money for me buying one of the more expensive options 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I've just bought one. 'A' mode is loads of fun, plus its really comfy and that standard exhaust gives a nice crackle. But the price makes it outstanding.

Nice review. I like that you said straight from the off the supernaked are great but too much for you at this point. They are for most people whether they admit it or not! I think this is a great road bike & genuinely one of the best value bikes out there at the moment. You could also stick with almost anything on the road with it too as it's not slow by any means.

I reckon this bike is the one I'd get in this class, as certainly it isn't a tech laden as the more expensive competitors, but it does have decent suspension, an up/down quickshifter, decent brakes and good throttle response, as compared to the previous iteration. For the price...well..it's a snip really.

    • @BikesofRye

That’s basically a new version of my 2020 Katana. I got mine last August for $9,000 USD as a demo bike with 825 miles and the first service done, still with full warranty. Too good of a deal, got the black one.
The Katana/GSX-S1000 is very overlooked, they’re rock-solid and very well-balanced bikes. Footless stops are effortless and so is puttering around town, but on any country roads it’s an excellent fast roadster. The bike is also faster than 600cc sport bikes, having a 0-100mph time of 6 seconds flat and a 100-200kmph of 5 seconds flat, and running the 1/4 mile in 10.7 to 10.9.

I want a fun, reliable bike that I can modify to my pleasing and that doesn't cost 2 Kidneys and a Leg to get. The S1000R, CB1000R and the MT10 are all way too expensive for similar Specs. I don't believe it would get destroyed by the super nakeds as you say. A fast competent rider on this would stand a chance with most if not all in its class. V4 streetfighter aside and maybe the Aprilia I think this is a great bike. The Honda cb1000r won't handle like the suzuki because of the front rake. It sort of reminds me of the FZ8 I used to have. Everyone jumped on the MT range but when all said and done the FZ8 was actually the better bike. The 800cc was an absolute beast and due to the ergos it was better handling than the 07 and 09. I'd take one of these all day or the monster 1100 evo, last of the air cooled

    • @crad5476

Thanks Bikes of Rye, nice review. I am in the market presently. Test rides has been a challenge with global supply delays, weather and now a long lockdown. Where I live the GSX S1000 is stg 500 more than an MT09SP. Love to see a comparison vid. The MT09 is supposed to be torquey and quick but you mentioned below that you want more power. I am trading up from a CBR500R and am really not sure how much power is enough or too much. I ride around a city (Auckland NZ) and in the country; a mix of motorway, B roads with corners and real twisties, along the coast and over mountains. I ted to short shift and use torque around town and wind the little CB out over the hills. What are your thoughts? The Z900 is another alternative. The CB1000R look good and I am sure is excellent but is very expensive here down under. Some say better to have a smaller bike that you can thrash. Thoghts?

      Hi Paul I have reviewed the latest 2021 MT09SP too - th-cam.com/video/60AHPipB17g/w-d-xo.html
It is a cracking bike and plenty of poke for what you sound like you are looking for. Riding position is very relaxed for cutting up B roads but engine provides plenty of torque and sounds intoxicating too. The GSXS1000 I personally think looks prettier and yes it definitely has a bit more go but it isn't too much quicker. Either one will be a complete night and day difference over the CBR500R so honestly you wouldn't go wrong with either of them! Personally if it was me I would be more inclined to sit on the MT09SP because its a more natural progression.

@@BikesofRye Thanks, I will have a look at the review. I have ridden a GSX S750 and found it smooth and easy to ride. It actually weights 2 kg more and has a slightly higher seat than the litre bike. I was not phased by the extra power, although it did start really moving when the revs got up. Arguably all I need, albeit a bit dated. When I can I will definitely ride a MT09. I am just so tempted by the super bike capability of the GSX for only 500 pounds more than the SP. As I said probably the 750 is enough.... Thanks again

I would love to see a new MT10 but my guess would be face-lift, euro5 with no extra power and new colours. We need a new R1 which shouldn't be too many years from now since it came out in 2015

I would never trade in your striple for this bike. That tank looks awful for one. I wouldn't see this as an upgrade though. Even with a full exhaust that bike doesn't come close to the triple sound. When again, it's just my opinion. Knowing Suzuki it probably rides great.

Afraid that Suzuki has no soul. It is a capable machine and if that’s all you want then fine, but it’s not a bike to get excited about riding. Think you would regret buying that after the 765. Now that bike has soul, not perfect by any means but that is what gives it real character and ultimately fun to ride😁
