    To say I am impressed is an understatement! I was an armature winder for US STEEL an this girl is no rookie ,some of the tools she uses are not the best but she gets the job done. She understands the theory and engineering behind the windings, this blows me away when most young ladies in this country have a hard time putting batteries in a remote.

      That is the nature of what our country has become, we've become so wasteful because so many things have become cheaper to simply toss and buy new ones than fix the old existing ones. So no one bothers to learn to fix or care for their machines. Seriously have you seen how badly we treat our cars? Most people don't know how to change the bulbs, check their oil or even put air in their tires anymore.

    Dear Guoer, when I was a kid I read the book Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and your videos remind me of that book. You demonstrate how important is is to feel good about mechanical work and that the goal of this work is to achieve an inner peace of mind. I like the relaxed and artistic style of your videos, no camera movement, slow scenes, no loud intro. Your videos seem very simple, but they are a form of art. Given your engineering talents and your level of education I find it not surprising that you also excel as a video maker. Keep up the good work, I am sure that you will find many ways to always evolve your channel with new ideas.

    Excellent restoration job. You even did the math to figure out new windings from what little was left over. The gloves seem to be a bit large though, but if they work they work. I got a little worried when you had the exposed wires so close to the water, but nothing happened. I realize that you didn't solder and tape the wires since the extension cord was not a permanent solution. Keep the great content coming.

    • @Dave_en
      @Dave_en 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      what she did was duplication of old winding. That's what most winders in our country do. But it's not the best design to get maximum power from the generator. Some slots are left unused. I have a solution for this. The number of coils would be the same, just increase the span of the coils. The turns must be recalculated for desired voltage. Distributed single layer single phase winding would produce less harmonic currents.

I'm a little jealous lol. I believe the only 2 things you lack may be a small plasma cutter, or a cutting torch. It would make cutting those circles much easier, and quicker although it does increase the cleanup time getting slag off the edges. Worth the tradeoff to me. Either way, thank you for making these videos. I'm definitely a fan of yours.

      Hi John. Yes, I think that is the really clever part. Size is not much of a problem if Lin gets the old wiring, she measures the diameter with her micrometer. The turns can be counted but I expect by experience she knows what they should be for a given size of generator or motor. What gets me is how she knows which new winding goes where, and how to connect them - there are 24 ends involved in this one! Great young lady is n't she? And you can see she enjoys doing the work. Big asset to her village I would think and she lifts my spirits just watching her.

    • @fromagefrizzbizz9377

      @@bobuk5722 There's only 8 ends. Each of the four poles is one continuous wire, in four separate windings. As long as she gets each winding for each pole put on the same way, things work.

      @@MrImhotep2287 try asking in Chinese. maybe on her chineese channel if it exists. notice she never replies to comments, well, none that I see. You want tutorial? why do u want tutorial? if u dont use ohms law in your day to day, this is not something you should attempt. there are also tools and calculators for figuring out the ammount of turns around a given core to accheive a voltage. thats why she mic'd her wire. she knows the core size, the wire size and the voltage she wants, the calculator will tell her how many turns. also there are equations. I dont know them, im not looking them up either, tho i want to but have headache, dont need maths bigger. ye, how bout a maths tutorial? no? well shit.

    Good job! I like to see how you rewound the generator at normal speed. I understand better now. Everyone will steal your secrets. Yes, they need to leave you the copper magnet wire, so you can see how the motor or generator was originally wound, coil configuration, how many turns and what diameter of wire, plus maybe you can get refund for the scrap wire to apply to purchasing new wire. Thanks for your video! I enjoy your smile also😁

    • @fromagefrizzbizz9377

      I had been wondering how she figured out the turn count and coil pattern. It was revealed when I saw her using a micrometer. With a micrometer she could tell what wire gauge was used, from that and measuring the cross-section of an existing coil she can get a reasonable turn count estimate without having to try counting individual wires. The coil pattern is obvious once you see how many holes there are, dividing by 4 (4 poles), and then another 2 (both sides of the coil) to get number of coils per pole. Her coil winder is tapered, meaning all the coils for each pole with the correct difference in size can be made all at once.
      Unless I'm mistaken, we didn't see is how the armature was rewound. Maybe it didn't need to, but most generators I've seen do need coils on the armature and slip rings. You get more power this way, and is how you can adjust the voltage for a given RPM.

    • @7MPhonemicEnglish
      @7MPhonemicEnglish 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fromagefrizzbizz9377 Ya I didn't see her do anything with the armature either but I did see her counting wires. She does it quickly with her little fingers. I noticed a turn counter on her winder tool as well. I would need that all the time as I would start day-dreaming while cranking.

    • @A_Bit_of_Thought
      @A_Bit_of_Thought 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fromagefrizzbizz9377 It looks like the armature is made up of permanent magnets. Notice there are no brushes or slip rings for electrical connections to the armature. Also, you can see when Linguoer was sliding the armature into the frame, the magnets were pulling at the frame.

    • @fromagefrizzbizz9377
      @fromagefrizzbizz9377 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@A_Bit_of_Thought You're probably right. I'm just a little surprised that they'd use permanent magnets in this application.

    • @fromagefrizzbizz9377
      @fromagefrizzbizz9377 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@7MPhonemicEnglish I don't think she was counting individual wires, I think she was manipulating the coil to have a reasonably regular shape, and could measure the number of turns by the cross section of the coil and diameter of the wire.
      Doesn't much matter, the coils could be off quite a few turns before it matters in this application.
