How to get great highlights in charcoal drawings

Process video of a charcoal drawing: This method is called „subtraction“ and works great with charcoal. You cover the whole paper with an even layer of mid-value grey. However, if you are on the lookout for really good highlights and contrast, I suggest you leave out the spots where the brightest brights will be in your drawing. This is what I am demonstrating here in this charcoal drawing time-lapse tutorial / process video.
