ive managed to get jobs despite being clearly nervous and ive managed to make money...i think they felt sorry for me or they just know im new but hopefully that will change as I gain more experience.
I love this channel. I am a college student going to school for horticulture and I have owned a business for almost 2 years now, this mans advice helps. I take him so seriously and I work hard to follow his advice. I would love to get an hour on the phone with him.
My confidence and deep knowledge of this industry is noticed by clients at every estimate and typically gets me the job. I'm always told by clients the previous contractors didn't tell me that. It's because they don't know the industry like me dawg.
Got the big van now Keith. One man army. Totally agree. I'm a lot more matter of fact and I know 90% of their own plants so my closing ratio now is up. Train hard, fight easy.
@@keith-kalfas can't believe it. Started with a shovel, brush and a mower. Now I can just load up with all my various equipment and just smash it out. I'm pinching myself it feels great. Act as if. No bullshit they smell it. Thanks dog
Awesome video thank you. I’m 25 years old and I have always had a passion on landscaping. I lift weights and played football in high school but never really worked on a big yard so this to me seems to me like I’d be able to handle. I’ve done regular yards at residential homes. That’s about it my work quality the way I will handle the plants will come out awesome I never knew I had it in me. So I recently got into a little landscaping company so I can see how they do their work, and to see what methods they have along with machines and equipment. One thing I noticed working for these people they made me feel like I was shit at my job only because I’d get tired too quick and didn’t have the stamina but the quality work was nice. They just never brought it up so please be prepared. Lol😂
Great video That's why I started at the age I started because I've learnt how to talk to customers how to run a business all the expenses involved how to price and it's been great fun If you could get one bit of advice to new person just about to start a career in landscaping what would it be?
hahaha you're so funny last part Kalfas, I love your video's I been watching you for long time. I have my small business here in Topeka. Super Green tree services and landscaping. Thank you for all the inspiration!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!
Broken Savers if might sound crazy but some of your best jobs can come from your competition. Call all of your larger competitors and tell them that you will do the landscape jobs that they don’t want or have time for. I did this last year and was so busy I had a hard time keeping up with it all.
Someone once explained it like this. Imagine you an actor in a Broadway show. Everybody that sees you. Is seeing you for the first time you must create a memorable performance for each show.
It depends really. For me. Its literally the free Google my business platform and posting new fresh content every other day. Facebook ads work too. But I was paying $25 per lead. By the time it was all said and done. I'm gonna go back and tweak my ads though.

I don't know if this comment totally relates to this but just yesterday lady wanted me to trim some shrubs I'm talking little tiny shrubs with maybe one outgrowth on it job won't take me 30 minutes max start to finish. I told her $65 she's like that's awesome the other guy wanted 200 I know bushes trimmed cost a lot but how can you charge someone $200 for 15 minutes worth of work I found be honest and hard-working goes a long way and after I told her that she said she had other jobs for me to do which may end up being more money and not the cheap $65. But the fact someone was going to charge her that much really ticked me off and it ticked her off to this one job could lead to many others not saying they're all going to be inexpensive but I'm not out to rip people off but I am out to make money don't get me wrong I hope this makes sense
I didn’t say charge 200. I like making money and profit. I would say most people under charge in this business. It’s guys that low ball that make it harder for everyone. I’m not saying you did, just in general.
I totally screwed myself from lack of confidence. I'm getting better though, partly from these videos. Sometimes when I'm out bidding a job I ask myself this question. "What would Keith Kalfas do."
@@keith-kalfas hey Keith. So today I mowed a lawn for the first time. I upsold them on removing old railroad ties and cleaning up flower beds. They went for it bit want to wait till next mlm month, which I said was fine with me. Now 3 weeks ago I probably would have told them I'd do all.of it for the price of the mow. So BOOM! I got this jizz, thanks Keith for your inspiration!
Why do you think people were taking advantage of you if you were the one that gave them the price? If you feel like you were loosing thousands of dollars and not making any profit why we’re still doing the job?
Videos could be edited better. Wry be distracted while you're telling us how to be professionals? it's pretty simple to redo that portion and edit out the parts of people walking in and talking over you. Pretty bad impression. You lost me from that point and future views cuz your other video was worse

The power of certainty, gained from repetition. I believe that and have experienced it personally.
