This song was inspired by Colombian rhythm: vallenato, it is typical from the north cost of Colombia and very known in all country. One of the main instruments in vallenato is the accordion (that's why Mirabel received one in the video)
Also specifically in the one used for the Barranquilla festival that is known to gets fast and fast, for people to dance.

As a french colombiano born in Colombia , i love this movie because they showed and really good "picture" of my birth country , the music/dance the color etc..Beautiful. Go check the movie. The creator of the movie is colombiano and he and his crew went to Colombia to find all the ideas to make a real one in animation. Mirabel's actress and Bruno's actor are colombian also.
Soooo happy to see this reaction video!!😀😍 I can relate with everything u guys said. The video is so colorful and full of joy. There are some elements here like, for instance, the Madrigal house is similar to those houses from rural areas, the strong girl u saw there (called Luisa) is based from an olympic westler woman called Maria Isabel Urrutia, there's a short part where you can see Casita serving cups of coffee which is a very cultural aspect here that as soon we woke up we drink a cup of 'tinto' (coffee), there is another cultural element there and is where Maribel is trying to scape the curious children she tried to avoid some explosions but in fact what people are doing there is playing something called 'Tejo' where people throw heavy 'rocks' (kinda) to explode some tiny triangles that inside have gunpowder, and basically the music you hear is mostly 'Vallenato' a typical music from hear along with 'cumbia' and mooore.

I used to date a girl who was from South America. I love how they captured the hand gestures and dance style of flipping the skirt - look at 4:11 or so with Mirabel and when her and Rosalita dance in "Bruno"

The families are color coded: Tia Pepa's family are in yellows and oranges, while Julieta's family are in blues and purples. Julieta has a mortar and pestel embroidered on her apron which also has deep pockets filled with herbs and spices; Pepa wears ear rings styled after the sun; Isabela's dresses have flowers embroidered on them, Mirabel has a butterfly embroidered on her shoulder, and her dress has symbols reflecting her entire family. Of particular note are Mirabel's glasses: The frames are the same color that Bruno's eyes go when he's drawing on his Majiks. Seems both have the ability to see more than the average person: Bruno sees the future, while Mirabel sees into peoples' hearts and their emotional needs.
