I used to think the dancing donkey’s were just a silly part of the video, but when I realized that the donkey is known for being the beast of burden, it gives this song an even deeper meaning.

Yep. And considering that Luisa is shown throughout, carrying _them._

If you catch a donkey show in TJ the meaning gets even deeper.

@@archit2894 I saw this, was appalled, then realized it was me that brought up donkey shows and it was funny again. Good song still.

I am the older brother by about 10 years. Abusive Mother, Absent Father. I was the Dad. Taught him how to read, made lunch for school, changed diapers on and on..... this song destroyed me.😥Worst of all it wasn't my brother's fault.... he went on to be very successful.... I am a mess.

Your work raising him probably gave him the calm to become the person he is today. That is also a form of success. (to me, the ultimate one) ❤

You have raised him well 👏👏👏👏 You should be very proud. It took a lot of love, patience and sacrifice etc. I hope he realizes that.

So relatable.. oldest sister of three.. alcoholic mother, somewhat absent father, youngest sister 11 years younger. I'm trying to not let mom get to my youngest sister like she got to me. Straight A perfectionist. Even went to the gym a lot to literally buff myself so I could take on mom or anyone physically if it ever got to that. Letting mom come after me so my sisters would be spared and trying to be a trailblazer to meet the whole extended family expectations and show the world that the family is doing fine, but later in life started to see cracks in the "strong" facade, now picking up pieces and still destroyed that I can't be stronger for my sisters. Just everything is so relatable in this song 😅 so heartbreaking that it was my you gest sister who played me this song 😅 I've listened to this over and over and cry every time. I feel immense relief that this feeling is put into a song and that there's so many who have been in the same situation.

Luisa is possibly the most relatable character Disney ever created. She loves her family and wants to do whatever she can to provide and keep them safe, but things keep piling on and piling on and so she starts to feel overwhelmed. But lord forbid she admit she’s overwhelmed because that would, at least in her own eyes, be letting her family down so she puts on a forced smile and stands proud and tall to hide all the PRESSURE building just UNDER THE SURFACE.

Disney really didn't want to make her big and muscular. They wanted her normal sized. The animators had to fight to give her the look they did.
And all the little girls who Disney thought would want to be like Isabella, who Disney put all their marketing into, they all wanted to be Luisa.

The reaction to "I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service", is so noticeable. Both of you are grooving then as the lyrics sink in you both sort of stop. I've noticed this a lot. It's a shame we all feel the same way

    • @StoryMing

I was just going to comment the same. I noticed the lyric register especially with the guy who hadn't heard the song before.

Jessica Darrow is incredible, she did a jazz version of this live as part of a gig (highly recommend you check it out). This movie is transcendent and isn't scared to address some pretty heavy topics, which is great for Disney to acknowledge. As an older sibling, this song means the world to me and the lyrics are spot on...plus it's just an incredible song!

Those of us with a similar personality trait of Luisa. Where either by choice or by circumstance we've taken out so much weight upon ourselves for our family and friends and we just feel like we can't ever ask for help trust me it's not a great existence.
But muscle mommy is cute 😂

Interesting fact, before We Don't Talk About Bruno, only A Whole New World made it to #1 on the Billboards. Dos Oruguitas, Surface Pressure, and Waiting on A Miracle always hit me hardest. I always felt like Waiting on a Miracle was Mirabel's version of Part of Your World. I don't think there is one bad song in this soundtrack and I don't think I could rank them because they are all good and stand out in their own special way.

Sup. Music therapy graduate student. Currently taking a class on cognitive behavioral therapy and our last class was on steamrollers versus pressure cookers. A steamroller is somebody who unhealthily releases pressure by vocally placing blame on environmental factors excessively. A pressure cooker has the same feelings but shoves them down to "disappear" them. As a bit of a pressure cooker myself, something that stands out to me is how Luisa flashes between grinning to an expression of frantic fear constantly throughout the song. One of the big symptoms of 'pressure cooker' is smiling when you feel upset. "Give it to your sister and never wonder if the same pressure wouldn't pull you under" is such a pressure cooker thing of 'you have no idea how much I'm dealing with; I love you but I think you'd break' and she's beaming. I think the donkeys represent the grin of a pressure cooker. 'I'm suffering, I'm about to hit my breaking point, I'm not okay' but 'DONKEYS :DDDD'.

I love seeing your videos together and always love the banter. I think you should do The Family Madrigal next. Dos Oruguitas is really beautiful and in Spanish. All of You gives you a new family dynamic, but still an emotional song. Dos Oruguitas and All of You are spoilers for the movie though, so if you don't want to be spoiled before watching it, I would put those off until later.

Have you guys watched Disney's "Turning Red?"

  • @ister2507
    @ister2507 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Please, watch the entire movie and react to songs as part of the movie rather than trying to go through them one by one. For one, they are major spoilers, taking a lot of fun, especially Dos Oruguitas and All of you (you already did What else can I do and it is a spoiler to some level as well, however not as heavy). Besides, understanding the context allows you to fully engulf emotionally and the songs hit then waaaay heavier. You can then post the songs only (however seeing a reaction to the entire movie would be great too).
