The mileage shown in the iSmart app is almost +1 of real mileage. So 12-13 kmpl in the city with moderate to light traffic is a bit too ambitious for Hector (especially cvt). But I do agree with the points mentioned in the video. You can definitely extract a good mileage for a car of this size even in the city if you drive calmly and smartly. In my experience (for manual), I would say around 10-11 kmpl is what you can expect in the city with moderate to light traffic and 13-14, even 15 on national highways. In bumper to bumper traffic, it can easily drop to 8 kmpl, which is not at all surprising or bad.
There are a lot of factors to getting better mileage. However 14-15 in Hector Cvt automatic IN THE CITY is highly unlikely. I stay in chennai. And mostly drive in the city. With constant stops we get a mileage of 7 to 7.7 km per litre. And yea it drops to 5 to 6 kmpl when anyone apart from me drives the car. The mileage increases to 14 + when driving in the highway provided the traffic is minimal. Another small bit worth mentioning is you can and should put the car on neutral when the car is at a stop. It does a little to improve the mileage. And in high traffic times just shift the car from neutral to drive and try to avoid the accelerator. I feel you should fill your car with a little more tyre pressure. 33 psi is recommended, I keep my tyre pressure at 33.5+ at all times. It is a very sensitive car to acceleration and braking. If mileage is a concern and primarily you are going to drive the car in the city and the traffic is high then this certainly is not the car you should be going for. Mileage can vary from city to city and highway to highway as the infrastructure is different. The points mentioned in the video is fair. But a little more technical detail would give better insights about the car. Despite such mileage it is still a car of choice for all my family members and I agree with the person that it is not a car for speed and stunts. It’s made for a good feel.
The sole most important thing to follow to gain a good mileage is to drive the car on part throttle because people press the accelerator fully to the floor then the gearbox downshifts and aggressively picks up speed, which in turn drinks fuel a lot. Easy and soft pickup with half accelerator will give you the best mileage
My Mg hector sharp pro CVT gives real world milage @15-16 on highway and 12-13 in city. I have driven my CVT more than 2000 km. Drive hector below 2000 rpm. Accelerate the car smoothly. Use cruise control on highway as well city. Cruise control start at the speed of 40. Use your left thumb to increase or decrease speed. Don't harsh braking. Before move start the car up to minimum 1-2 minute to settle down rpm. If you follow these points you will also get real mileage of 15-16. If you compare weight of car with other cars then 15-16 milage of CVT hector is more than enough.
You are absolutely correct. Person should drive the vehicle properly and calmly, even im getting 13+ in the city and highway 16 with hector 2022 sharp cvt petrol and the reason of getting such a good mileage is driving gently and in no hurry..... Even I warm up the car 8-10 mins before going anywhere........
Absolutely great tips. I have been following the same tips in my car, not in hector though, its in skoda, from last 3 year's and surely it's giving me results
Wonder when the ismart app update regarding the mileage bug will be updated! Most of the time the mileage is shown as the same low number irrespective of the driving style and then once you fill the fuel the mileage changes.... Have you experienced this issue?
You should NEVER EVER put automatic car in neutral like manual cars else your gear box will blow away. These bad habits will not work when you drive automatic.

Well Upadte after a year I took my car outstation drove like 3k extra kilometres, I mostly got like 14km/l in highways, Now I'm getting atleast 8km/l in city too . I guess I wasn't getting good mileage at start because the car was new and after its initial services too it's mileage increased
Thing here to understand its a SUV designed for family . Isko light foot pe chalao araam se. Not like a TRUCK ki faltu ki race diye pade hain. Araam se dheere dheere drive like a king. Best mileage is between 80-100 KMPH on highways. Try maintaining the speed using cruise mode and avoid unnecessary changing gears, harsh acceleration & braking.
I have manual hybrid smart version. I have managed a mileage of 17.7 kmpl. I use cruise control whereever possible. Trust me makes a huge difference. Also, if you are going downhill, disable cruise control and do not race.
In proper metro city traffic, cruise control is totally ruled out for sure, where u have continuous braking and acceleration requirment... All other pointers may help for a 10+ km milage in an hector I assume at the most, but then u have to be extremely caution about harsh brakes at almost all the time. Afterall no one can help that SUPER heavy car on that sub 1500 cc engine..(though a great car) .. mileage chaiyee to wagon R hee lena padega.

Thanks for sharing the mileage tips. Recently got my CVT sharp on Nov 4th in Blr. My driving score has mostly been above 85. I havent done much highway drives (Tacho shows 470kms in 3 weeks) and have been getting the mileage ranging from 5.2 to 8.4. I have 2 questions- 1. Quality of fuel and idle engine stopping- Indian oil vs Shell. Though the later is costly by almost 6/- my mileage increased from 5.2 to 8.4km/ltr. Wanted to know if you have tried switching ignition at signals as there is no idle start stop feature and whether it will help raise my mileage numbers. 2. Run- in period & 1st service- Does the run in engine period has any impact on the mileage and do you recommend tuning the engine during the 1st service? Appreciate your response. TIA
Hi Shashak.. If you have Esser(Nayara) or Shell fuel .. try using that. I have got better mileage in this. If you are ok with V power - try that.. that will improve your engine performance and mileage
Better quality engine oil will definitely improve your mileage. Start/stop at engine will further reduce mileage, if waiting time is less...if more than 2 min, it makes sense... After 1-2 services, it will have some impact on mileage improvement but don't recommend tuning in first service.
