    Hii! This video was super informative, thank you so much for making it! I'm going to be a freshman this fall at UW and i'm doing the bio+chem series that whole year. I'm wondering what you think about the teachers- are they hard? do they teach or do you do most of the learning on your own? Have you used rate my professor before and is it useful? thank you soo much 🥰

    • @amelia9935
      @amelia9935  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad it was useful. I barely had two quarters with in-person professors, but they were okay. They have office hours which are more helpful than lectures and emailing or Canvas messaging. They teach you the concepts, but reinforcing them is done on your own. I look at Rate My Professor, and it is useful. Sometimes I get worried if a professor has a low rating, and it ends up not being so bad. If you have the choice, maybe go with another professor, but if not, don't freak out about the rating because everyone has a different experience.

    Hi, I just got accepted into the pre-nursing program and I'm super excited; but, I heard getting into the nursing program is extremely difficult at UW. I was just wondering what your experience with that was?

    • @amelia9935
      @amelia9935  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Congrats! I'm going to be brutally honest. If you get into another school's nursing program direct admit, I'd go there. If you get into another school whose nursing program is easier to transfer into, I'd go there. Since nursing school admission is so competitive, you spend most of your first two years stressed out. Going to UW as a pre-major with the intention of transferring into a competitive major (i.e. nursing or computer science) is not worth it, in my opinion. If you get rejected from the major, you have two options: transfer to another school where you can get your desired major OR take time off and try to apply to the major at UW the next cycle. UW is a great school, but many people go in unaware of how the pre-major system will affect them.

    Very cool vid mang - I relate w the out of state woes lol I had a similar mindset with regards to choosing UW over “better” out of state schools. Keep up the gr8 work mang!

    OH, also is it true that laundry isn't free? How does the laundry system work? Do you have to pay out of pocket each time?

    Question, what's the poc community like? I live in an area where poc are the majority and I'm really nervous about losing that.

    • @amelia9935
      @amelia9935  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      asians are the majority poc, and you can look at the demographics online. not a ton of black/hispanic people but they're there. the general vibe is welcoming of people from all backgrounds.

      Yea, STEM Classes might not be diverse, but there are plenty of student organizations for various ethnic backgrounds, you can get still get that community

    Would you say that the environment is really competitive? I'm an out of state student and I really want to go to UW because of the urban environment. However, I've heard that the classes are really hard :( Also, are you a pre-health major rn?

    • @amelia9935
      @amelia9935  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The environment is competitive, but no so bad that you can't have fun and relax when you want. It also depends what major you're in. STEM classes are particularly difficult, but I haven't experienced people that won't help if you ask. Office hours are helpful too - I didn't go until the end of fall quarter, but I wish I had sooner! I'm a pre-nursing major. Laundry is $1.25 per wash and $1.25 per dry on your Husky card. Each residence hall has a laundry room in the downstairs or basement area. They don't provide detergent, bleach, etc. :)

      Hi Amelia, I just committed to uw and I plan on doing prenursing, do you have tips on what classes I should take and study tips as well?

    • @amelia9935
      @amelia9935  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      there are advisors that can help with individual questions. myplan (the system you register for classes through) has an "audit degree" option that shows you what prereqs you need to complete for each major. most people take the chem 120, 220, and 221 series freshman year to get it out of the way.

    • @amelia9935
      @amelia9935  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, I don’t have any insight on that! It‘s capacity-constrained, but there is a range of competitiveness with capacity constrained majors.
