Also the first scene with her holding the cigarette and all those hands offering her a lighter is from an old italian movie called Maléna, a woman who has a really similar story (about a hypocritical society trying to ruin her) as Hwasa! How I interpreted the video: - The beginning: You can see Hwasa watching her own death scene behind all the media/paparazzi taking pictures. But at her funeral, you see all the chairs facing away with no one present, meaning no one really cares about her other than using her for $$$ and views. - The cigarette: I could be wrong, but it's a powerful and tragic scene from the movie "Malena". The idea around the cigarette and lighter is a prostitute choosing which lighter (guy) she will sleep with. I think Hwasa uses this scene to express how society is pushing her to be someone that she is not (like in the movie, Malena is forced to become a prostitute because her village isolated her for her beauty). - The diner table: The plates are filled with tape and media items-- suggesting that people only eat (believe) false rumors and gossips. Then you see Hwasa covered in blood, trying to please everyone while serving a heart but no one wants it. - The alter ego: Like many said-- Maria is her baptism name. So I think she's trying express Maria as her pure self. Everytime you see Maria with red hair, she's fierce and free to act as she wants. While Hwasa with black hair is in the mental institute, and you see her being attacked by pencils (showing that rumors and hate comments are making her hurt herself). In the end, the bath tub is filled with red blood and you see Hwasa with red hair in the mental hospital: signifying that she's going to stand up for herself and ignore all the haters. - Mamamoo: I don't know how to explain this part other than moral support. It's known that Mamamoo struggle to where they are now. All 4 members are dark horses rejected from multiple auditions, they've been criticized for their looks and had no one but themselves. So I think Hwasa is trying to show that through all the pain that she went through, she's able to stay standing because of Mamamoo.
