      The cork of bottles should always be kept on their sides during aging as this prevents the cork from drying out.
      Kept in the original box, 52 to 59 degrees and 55 to 75 percent humidity in a dark, odorless place.

      No, it does not mean that. Please don’t misinterpret what I am saying. Wine world is full with wring beliefs, semi truths and myths. I am making my videos to reduce these, and You with Your comments are trying to keep the wrongs and myths of wine alive. 😬

    Grower's Champagne is all the rage but I prefer special Cuvées from big houses, thanks to the access to all the mature wines for blending. Dom has a funny reputation but a good vintage is killer. I found this 2008 to be fantastic, it was big and rich on the palate. It's really in the style of some of Schrammsberg's top stuff from California.

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are some great grower’s champagnes out there, which I love, and then there are some funky ones. 🤷‍♀️ And yes, I see less variation (better consistency in quality, style) between wines sourced from a larger houses. 2008 was a great vintage, I love it from almost every producer! 🍾🥂✨ Cheers’

      I really loved the Schramsberg Blanc de Blanc! Since it's been a long time since I had Dom Perignon, I'm excited to hear that you find them stylistically similar!!

    I have a 1988 vintage. I was thinking of opening it this year for my birthday. Thoughts on opening it, or is it too old should I keep it for decades as a “trophy” bottle. 1988 It’s my birth year, it was a gift recently so unsure how it was stored before I received it.

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great vintage, and while it might not be as bubbly as younger vintages, I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be a beautiful wine to enjoy. You can of course leave it as a trophy, it is Your wine. If it would be in my fridge, I know I would open it. ☺️ Not with sabrage though, as it wouldn’t have enough pressure. 🙏🏻

    Great profiling and analysis! Love watching your videos to see how each Champagne house is distinctive.
    Despite being relative novice compared to food, I have a '98 Dom Perignon that my dining companion had the foresight of purchasing, which was long before I really dove into the world of wines just 3 years ago!! Can't wait to eventually open it!

    Love your explanations for Cristal and Dom Pérignon but i wonder why you do not 'sabrer' Dom Perignon as you did with Cristal (perhaps you did it outside otherwise you have to pick up broken glass.

    The ice bucket must be filled with 2/4 of ice and 1/4 with water letting the 1/4 without anything, After filling the bucket you put the bottle inside and put a tide towel up top not covering the whole bucket but only the neck of the bottle

    Hi agnes, I have been saving a 2008 DP in my cellar now for about 5 years - too soon to drink? My understanding is that Champagne should be stored vertically and NOT horizontally, any comment? Cheers and good video!

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  ปีที่แล้ว

      You cannot imagine how incredibly lucky I was reading Your comment! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙌 YES! Champagne should be stored vertically, and I have been going through a lot of comments here because majority disagree. 😢😢😢
      Anyway - I think You will enjoy 2008 DP for sure, and I think it should be beautifully opened up and provide complex nose of fruit and maturity. I do believe it can age still, I mean I am opening my 2004 vintages now. Therefore it depends on the event as well! ✨

    • @ray4sp
      @ray4sp ปีที่แล้ว

      During recent trip to So Africa, we had the wonderful experience of a private 3.5 hour tour, tasting visit at De Toren vineyard and it was there that it was suggested that I sould be storing my "champagnes" vertically. Explanation was provided but I do not want to misquote. I am looking for the right occasion to enjoy the 2008 - hopefully soon! I bought this DP to have at a champagne tasting with friends in 2019. We ended up tasting a 2008 Cristal and a 2007 Dom Reinhart and everyone preferred the DR which was a surprise. Cheers.@@NoSediment

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  ปีที่แล้ว

      If I am not mistaken 1993 is not considered the greatest vintage, but.. Dom Perignon definitely knew what they were doing when decided to declare it. So, I think it should be quite fine right now! ✨🥂🍾
