Parents have to be the advocates for their children. Great music, great arranger but a sorry ass self focused man. I have been listening to his interviews from the early years and he speaks little of Hal David, his biggest collaborator, the man who put legs on his music. Both Hal and Burt did an NPR interview with Terri Gross in 2010 and Hal could hardly get a word in. His exwife and collaborator, Carol, with whom he is speaking here put out a book a fews later exposing his character terribly. I guess his book wasn't as thorough as she claimed.
Eunice David, Hal's second wife and widow did a little forum a few years ago and she spoke of Burt in the EARLY years, quietly accepting credit for the lyrics to his music when never wrote a word. He was never to correct the interviewer and give credit to Hal. The truth be told that's part reason for the spilt.
Great music all the same. Peace to the family.

It is much harder to create a great melody than great lyrics. Yes, Hal David was superb, but without Burt Bacharach's melodies, no sale. Bacharach is simply being candid rather than falsely modest. Besides, it is the music that matters, not the personality.

Plus, guess what: people change! They can grow quite a bit over the course of 90 years!! Pretty mature.

I think Streisand does the best version of "Alfie" as well as One Less Bell to Answer/A House is Not a Home. She also sang recently for a CD "Be Aware" another Burt Bacharach song that I don't think too may people have heard of, but claims he wrote it for her to sing it. th-cam.com/video/ES-mkkRiq34/w-d-xo.html

She admitted she was attracted to his looks. He's admitted that he can't 'behave' when married. His 4th wife, who looks young enough to be his great granddaughter, must have married him for money. Without money, he's just a really old guy who used to write good songs and cheat a lot. Women overlook a lot when you're loaded like he was.

I read somewhere that she was asking for prayers to her and her family. I mean...she was 32 yrs old when she married and he was 64. Did she not think that someday he would die since he was so much older than her? Since she is 32 yrs younger than he was, I am sure it was for the money.and prestige and may be replace her own father as looking up to a daddy syndrome here since his age could have made him a father figure to her. He did hurt a lot of women along the way...as he had affairs going on when married to Angie and Carol. Anyone who has become famous forgets who they really are as a person before they won the accolades and do all kinds of stupid things along the way. I am sure his widow has nothing to worry about financially for the rest of her life at 62.

I read the book and it's laced with the most vile profanity. People need to accept the will of Jesus and do their best to live lives that are pleasing to him. A true believe knows this. So what was the thing that "even non-believers can believe in?" (Alfie) Whatever it was, it doesn't matter now. It doesn't profit a man to gain all that wealth and lose his own soul.

How is it possible that this man didn't get a Kennedy center honor?
Compared to some of the selections, they are not a pimple on this mans butt, in terms of talent, relevance, contributions, production, success and ability.
His discography and catalog are unequaled.
There has to be some political or assanine reason why he was excluded.
    What a shame.

A musical genius like that is a complicated personality as a husband and Dad ...I just adored him his music his personality and of course his gorgeous looks since a young girl ( I was born 💜mid 60's ) so many memories attached his music and my life.
I read his autobiography and he was very very honest about where he thought he failed .Low key humble quiet man perfectionist too
Plus he was a Taurus ♉ which I always seem to love the male ones 💜🙏😎
