El Dorado 12 is very easy to distinguish, it has a dry aftertaste, it leaves a dry effect after drinking it. Plantation XO is distinguished by a thicker texture, it is more oily. All 3 are excellent rums. My favorite is Dictador 20, then Plantation XO, this from the price range up to 50 euros. For Cuba Libre I prefer For de Cana 7. Good luck!
My two favorites have been the XO and the RL. I have not had a chance to try the other options in your test this time. I believe that the Eldorado is available near me, so I will pick one up today. Thanks, STB!
This is great timing, I just gave a bottle of the El Dorado 12 to our new neighbors as thanks for tolerating our renovation I'm going to treat myself to my first bottle of the XO when we finally move in, when it comes to sippers I love the fruit-forward stuff 😁
Of the 3 I had (ELD12, PXO & HSM) and an extra one I chucked in (I know Barbados rums aren't your favourite) - Rum Sixty Six 12 yr old from Foursquare.... i think my order would be 1) Havana Maestros, 2) Plantation XO, 3) Eldorado 12 and then Rum 66. Although in all honesty, if you asked me again tomorrow, it would have probably changed! All great rums!
Great video Steve. It's really interesting when you factor in price too - Ron Santiago 11 only £37 on MOM, El Dorado 12 now £33 on amazon! Interesting that the Admiral Rodney is the most pricey there and your least favourite. I am surprised you incuded the El Dorado 12 and not the 15 too! Black Tot and Flor De Cana 12 would have been good canditates also.
Ummm, I’ve just literally done that; 10 Spiced Rums that are BETTER than Captain Morgan th-cam.com/video/WYg8KkPjyPU/w-d-xo.html How would you make it any different?
Nope, if you track back through my journey over the last 6 months..maybe 9 months, you'll see that I really don't do Barbados Rums. For me...and I'm not alone with this opinion... St Lucia is doing Barbados Rums a lot better than what Barbados Rums. I know that makes little sense. St Lucia is St Lucia. Barbaod is Barbados. But St Lucia is all about Blending Rums in the same way as Barbados is. And for a lot of us now, we much prefer St Lucia Aged Rums. Having said that, the Mount Gay XO was one of my better picks in the Barbados series back in Oct/Nov. But I didn't enjoy it enough to replace anything on my Back Bar.
ED for the win!
I miss the seeing names of the runs you’re drinking while you’re tasting them…

I understand completely. The treat is that it's slightly challenging...it makes you think and appreciate the nuance's.

Love this!!
Great review Steve. Best guess it would be the newer "less dosed" El Dorado 12. All yum rum though. Good stuff mate
You say newer... but we're a good 6 years now i think. Circa 2017/2018 they changed it think. Might be wrong. but certainly wouldn't cal it new now.

ED15 i really don't like... as for the rest of the Rums, you have to listen what i say at the start of the video...and the end of the video!
@@StevetheBarmanRumReviews Ah yes I appreciate the context now.
New to the channel. What about any Foursquare ecs?
You the dude!!!
EL D12, DICT 12, PLANT XO, RL SEAL 12 YO...THE REST I CAN'T GET EASILY IN ILLINOIS.
LOL, I have 6 of those (no Ron Santiago de Cuba)
Blind tasting suggestion: spiced rums please Steve 🤞

@@StevetheBarmanRumReviews Oops, think Alzheimer's has settled in... I even posted a comment 😳😳😳 Move along. Nothing to see here 😜
What rum is not so hot?
No mount gay XO?🤔 or is that because there’s no age statement?
