What's even more wild the valley below use to be a big beautiful lake!! After the L.A. aquaducts were built it drained away forever... Sad really, look up old pictures of it, was so beautiful..
Same here. I am going to also watch with interest how they get the amounts of water that is going to be needed up there. Everyway you turn, the challenge of the water and concrete is going to be daunting. Batching it on sight is the most desirable, IMO, yet does create challenges but could probably get away with just using maybe 2 mixers. If it were my job, water, water and water are the first priorities to get solved. trucking in water will be a major ordeal by itself. Smaller amounts at a time getting up that canyon, and seeing what is down in the spring in the mine won't cut it. Just my observations.
Thank you so much for helping Brent and Thank you for your generosity! That's really heartwarming to come across such decent people like yourself. (I've come from Cerro Gordo's channel).
I've been watching Brent and (Ghost Town Living) for a while, watched his video about how he was trying to figure out how to get concrete up to the site and I"ve been thinking about it alot. I used to help run a concrete batch plant from set-up to yearly maintenance, and dealing with getting concrete trucks in and out of bad spots was the reason a pump truck, and concrete pumping is so popular. Now, don't get me wrong, I've watched some of your videos too, and you have got to have some of the most badass trucks available, but the problem isn't the horsepower to get the concrete up to Cero Gordo, the problem is the road and the grade of the existing road. The wider the truck, the less road you have and the more likely for an accident to occur, unless you are prepared to get the road right - passable for heavy trucks, and even then the grade may be more than driveshafts or u-joints can stand. I'd think about other options. I know he said he needed 90 CY's of concrete, which isn't alot, but is the slab of the hotel all he is ever going to build up there? If he wants to continue to grow, probably not, right? I'd consider setting up a small batch plant in the town, fly that sucker in with a load bearing helicopter if you have to, or use smaller trucks to haul the dry cement up in bulk bags, and mix it onsite. I know it seems like alot for such a small amount of concrete but they have smaller batch plants assuming he does have access to water and 3 Phase electricity. Either way, I'm definitely interested to see how this turns out. It seems like you guys are great problem solvers and trouble shooters, just keep safety in mind on this one as you try to hulk that mud up the hills.
Sorry Im a bit late. AFAIK Brent doesn't really have running water. The only "running water source" is a pool a couple hundred feet down the main mine shaft with a pump to send up a trickle that works like half the time. He was also looking into helicopter lifting concrete up there but the price alone could've bought him a good sized house. So it wasn't really an option, and that was BEFORE he knew how much concrete he was going to need
Facinating, after watching Brents point of view for over a year on his channel, so interesting to see others points of views, and 2nd person view of Brent.

New sub to your channel. Thanks for helping Brent out with everything on his plate. It really is too much for one man to get everything done. Thanks to the volunteers at Cerro Gordo too, you folks are the blood, sweat and seeds of new life in the town. Brent has accomplished so much, working with the volunteers, but getting the hotel rebuilt is his main obsession. The next is getting the water back reliability. I keep hoping that he will find a huge fresh water aquifer beneath the mountain that is accessable and free of contamination.
I use to run a Freightliner up some narly dirt roads, at least it had a tandem locker. Sounds like you need to find some Telma systems for those rigs. That alone will save the Jakes and pads on the way down and keeps the drivers safe. Awesome to see you pitching in to save such an important part of American history.

@@joshuawright7753, I see when you love what you do you can enjoy life. I was born and raised in Illinois. How long do you stay in the mind at one time? How is this mine in the video different than the one you work in? Are there slip holes in the mine you work? What are some of the things you see while down below other than what you told me? Could a mine be high for instance could you be on top of a mountain from the top go down down down; would that be considered a mine? I'm trying to get a clear picture of what you told me. We use mix on the fly cement systems in the oilfield to case wells. Maybe bring it dry and mix on site. There’s water on site, he needs a 500 barrel frac tank he can fill there.
There is an extremely limited amount of water up there. To make it worse it’s around the 8th year of a terrible drought, there’s hardly any snow pack left and it’s only the beginning ofJune. It’s going to be tough, water will have to be brought up. (Ironically from SoCal, which has taken the Owens Vally water for 100 years now).
@@MizFit8 dont use pre-made ready mix bags, but instead use a structural formula of aggregate and cement powder, as long as your aggregate in stong your concrete will be too
Yes mixer off a truck but you mite have to add extra paddles inside as there not designed for mixing. But you can also get a mixer mounted on a dump truck build a ramp where you can get road Larry's to then pour into dump truck mixer. There's always a way

@@Mx5Man No he isn't, the Ellington Colliery in northumberland which closed 20+ years ago had workings that went out as far as 15 miles under the north sea www.theguardian.com/business/1999/nov/01/7
So stoked you’re taking this full on. And before June 15th. Damn good job guys.
Just want to say thanks for all your help with all concrete work you did for ghost town living. Looking forward to your future content.
What's even more wild the valley below use to be a big beautiful lake!! After the L.A. aquaducts were built it drained away forever... Sad really, look up old pictures of it, was so beautiful..
I was a general contractor for 30+ years retired now and I definitely would build the batch plant on site
Exactly what I had in mind !
Videos back up! Ghost town living ftw!
Awesome!!!!!!
The best town in the middle of nowhere 🦾💯 I rate the drive came here from part 2. Heavydsparks are a blessing to the town 💯
I love that you’re helping Brent! Bravo fellas.
So glad you guys are supporting Brent with your generous offer of help!
You guys are awesome for helping Brent! I'm gonna watch the hell out of these videos!
@@everythingsalright1121 have to dig a well !
@@HighVybeTribe I think he tried that too. I don’t remember why but he had problems with that too.
Facinating, after watching Brents point of view for over a year on his channel, so interesting to see others points of views, and 2nd person view of Brent.
WoW! You guys got me hooked, love your TH-cam channel. The video is amazing, and I can’t wait to see what else you have in store. Thank you for helping Brent and also saving the dream of Cerro Gordo. I’m subscribed

I knew it the second I saw it. I was like, HOLY SHIT! Heavy D and the boys are going to Cerro Gordo! Awesome!!!
I've been waiting on Brent pulling in a a bad ass team to help get some gnarly shit going on in the town. Helll YEAH!!

I waited to watch it in 2160p :)
Watch it again with us...some of us watched it last nite too... Awesome
Great video but man do you need to get a life.. in my option, just saying
@@rolanddabeats8087 lol what?
This day and age....it is called multi tasking.... changed brakes while listening and watching first time and cooking dinner this time.... thats how we do.
Watching you and watching Brent has become my "must watch" as often as possible to keep my attitude where I want it.
Very thankful that people like you exist and have the resources you have.
What a cool colab. Ive been watching Brent almost since the beginning. And obviously my Diesel Bros for a long while.
Love it, been watchin Brent for a long time, nice to see this collab.
Whoever has been filming and editing deserves a raise that opening was a movie
*Always fun to be the 270lb guy balance-beaming the 140 year old cracked board over the seventy foot pit that you know hasn't been walked over by anyone bigger than the 165lb mine operator for the last hundred years.*
I love you guys for helping Brent and bringing him much more than labor and such, your positivity and excitement is something you have in common,it's Brent's greatest asset 😍
I was absolutely stoked to see this when i checked you tube this morning both you guys are on my constant watch channel list and could not be any happier right now ✌👌👌👌👌
Yeah they would need a thousand people to mix and God only knows how many bags of concrete
It's looking like this series will be 🔥🔥
I can’t, these guys make the best Danm videos
That's fantastic that you're helping him out.
This project means a lot to me. You guys are amazing!
Heavy D and his crew having amazing huge hearts for helping Brent. Watching you guys up there working and having fun was inspiring!!
So stoked that you are willing to help him out Heavy D. He definitely needs help that only you can provide.
This is gonna be a game changer for Brent, nothing exciting like this ever happens in the Owens valley! We’re gonna come by on the way back from bishop & throw a few dollars Brent’s way too, good on you for helping this guy! & good luck with that road!
My jaw dropped when I saw the momentous amount of equipment and resources that were used to make this happen. You have a huge heart! Epic story.
This is going to be one of the best series on TH-cam
What a great production of this vlog. Fantastic photography, sound, handsome men….well done, guys. And a big thank you for helping out Brent .oh…love your drone work as well!
Brilliant - so pleased you helped Brent - such a worthy cause for posterity. Many thanks for such incredible generosity.
YES!!! TWO OF MY FAVORITE TH-camRS COLLAB!!!!
I'm a miner now in Illinois and that is so cool I love what I do every day of the week its amazing on the different atmosphere down there
What do you do in the mine? What take place and why?
I'm from Illinois I didn't know mines was there
Yes sir we are a coal mine I build the mettial can supports for long wall moves and stuff like that I love what I do its called the jpak in masadoniea il there's 4 mines we sell and make for and they are ruff around 800 to 1300 feet deep some of the minds its amazing what u see under ground its like a city in its self
If you could go into more detail it will be helpful.
Have a great day,
Peace
Awesome to see you're just helping him. Been following Brent for a long time, so good to see how his persistence teamed with your expertise is going to make the American Hotel rise once again!
Fantastic so glad you can help Brent I will be watching from Australia. :D
Not sure where all your money comes from but I'm so excited to see your help with this amazing project. Now to make sure I see all of your videos! Thanks guys!
I have been following Ghost Town Living for over a year he’s a great gentleman . Thank you guys for helping him 🙏
We use mix on the fly cement systems in the oilfield to case wells. Maybe bring it dry and mix on site. There’s water on site, he needs a 500 barrel frac tank he can fill there.
Jeffery Cerasano. Hope they contact you about this knowledge. !!!
Mix the concrete up there im sure it would be a lot easier bring materials and equipment up there rather that loads of ready-mixed concrete
Could do that. But the hand mix won’t be anywhere near structural enough for a building ect
@@MizFit8 Bring an empty truck and mix in it .
@@MizFit8 dont use pre-made ready mix bags, but instead use a structural formula of aggregate and cement powder, as long as your aggregate in stong your concrete will be too
By helicopter
Yes mixer off a truck but you mite have to add extra paddles inside as there not designed for mixing. But you can also get a mixer mounted on a dump truck build a ramp where you can get road Larry's to then pour into dump truck mixer. There's always a way
Some rich guys having fun ..I am glad Brent has people helping him , and the guys having fun.
