People of the comments, stop remembering as if suicide was the only thing he did, he stood out in many things and it would be better to remember him for it
Thank you! It just shows that you don't truly care if you only comment about this on any video (or post) related to him and it's honestly very exhausting for fans to see this every single day. You know how on twitter for example, you might post something about him completely unrelated to that, like a meme or something cute with him, and there will be people (non-shawols basically) who will reply or quote with "I miss him so much 😢 RIP" and I understand that most of them don't have a bad intention but they really need to think once more before doing something like that. We really don't need reminders about it.
A lot of kpop fans who were never really SHINee fans keep doing this, reducing him to his sickness, erasing all the beautiful and amazing sides of who he was. As if that was the only thing we (Shawols) think about when we remember him.
You think? I only remember him and think of his voice and music not really how he died. Maybe because I'm familiar with him. Can't blame those who doesn't know kpop or him tho.
I agree...before his suicide barely anyone checked out jonghyun and his vocals, and who he truly was. But I am glad, that there many people that are getting to know him and that are supporting shinee..they will always be 5 just with one angel💜💜
Two uncles took their lives and a cousin all in the same year.. One died at the age of 19, the other at 21, and 17. They were all in a band together. They were upbeat, so happy we thought. Made us laugh, and were going somewhere. Nobody saw it coming. It was like a domino effect. Even though we remember them and all the joy they gave us, the suicide will haunt us until the day we die! So no matter what anyone says, it's unfortunate, but when you care about someone, it hurts, and that pain doesn't just go away because someone says that you should remember the person for what they did on this earth when we will no longer see them anymore. Maybe he doesn't want us to forget it either. Being an idol he couldn't show how he was truly feeling, and in South Korea, saying you have depression is frowned upon. I believe he opened up many peoples eyes! They need to be able to not feel ashamed no matter if they are an actor, model or a star that shine-es!
Most of the time, unless it's part of the topic, I actually forget that he passed. I think I'm partly still in denial, mainly because he was my SHINee bias and a big reason why I started listening to KPOP in general. But I also choose to remember all the good times, all the times he made me laugh, all the times he made me smile, and everything he did for us as fans. I'll always love him, even twenty years down the road, because his experience has helped shape my experience. I choose to never take that end (and I don't blame him or am I mad at him for doing it; I'm sure he had his reasons why he thought he had no other choice) because of how it left everyone else. While I'm nowhere near as popular as him, I know there will be people that would be just as upset if I left the world. He's a role model for me, even though some people may read into that wrongly. I love him. So much. And he'll never be forgotten in my heart.
About his artistic freedom. Jonghyun was the first SM artist to have a fully self-composed & written album. SM let him pretty much do whatever he wanted bc they knew his potential and I think he also chose to perform this song that way
tysedon Trap did come out in 2013 but it wasn’t a fully self-composed album. As far as I know Henry didn’t compose or write anything in Trap, he might have co-written it tho
Jonghyun has this way of expressing his songs where his fans can relate to him. In his song 'Let me out', his performance has props which include a chair and chains..it expresses how he is trapped and rejected. From my opinion jjong, in his song hyeya expresses with the blood that his heart is bleeding..I would be lying if i said i don't want to face the fact that he isn't here anymore..it kills me..he is a role model for me, my favourite vocalist from the whole of the Music industry. His music is an inspiration..if you want or if you have some time please check out and react to his other solos, such as 'crazy(guilty pleasure) and 'let me out' His vocals improved mine.I can't talk to people so he helped. I'm proud of him, he was my light out of my dark cave. I love him and his gift to us, his music, his love.
forever unknown Let Me Out is especially dramatic, as his chains represent the depression he was suffering from and he hinted about how much he wanted to die in that song 😭 SHINee’s music helped me through the loss of my Grandma in 2013, and I completely understand what you mean that it was your light in the dark cave. It’s still so hard to face the fact that he’s gone
forever unknown yep, I get the PTSD thing. I fell into a deep depression after his death, and I’m missing almost a month after his death (I only remember bits and pieces of December 18th until January 12th), which apparently could be a sign of having PTSD. I’ve only had one flashback to that time, but I’m guessing if I experience loss again, it will just happen again. It haunts me so much still. I wish everyday that things could have been different. I hope we can get through this together
awh..don't worry he is in a better place, although we may never cure the heartbreak and heartache, we can always stare at the sky in tears, remembering him, he is precious lets let him have that.
Jonghyun had all the control over how he performed this song. Jonghyun was the only SM Entertainment artist that had 100% artistic control over all of his songs, including SHINee songs. Jonghyun also wrote and composed over 60% of SHINee's songs and he wrote several songs for other Kpop artists, including his fellow member Taemin, as well as EXO's "Playboy" etc. He was an amazing artist, composer and producer and SM knew that if Jonghyun thought the song or performance would be a hit then there was no reason to question his choices. This was 100% Jonghyun. He wrote this song himself -- however, it was a cover of a famous Spanish song that he translated to Korean and changed some of the words to fit how he interpreted the song. Originally called "Yi Si Fuera Ella", Jonghyun loved the original so much that he felt a need to remake and perform the song himself.
I Totally Agree with you!! His passion was music and his dream was to be a Composer. I Remember watching a video he made when they all went on separate Vacation trips. The idea of that was for all to video tape what they did unsupervised something that they all have wanted to do but couldn't!! Jonghyun wanted to go back when they first did their debut. He was happy to be in front of it again... everything he did that day was filmed and he said it was such a beautiful moment the only thing that was missing were The members. That passion he felt in his heart only members who are brothers he wanted to share his happiness. He was so emotional that night he couldn't sleep. Those were the times he use to come out with his lyrics and melody for his songs. JONGHYUN was not just a singer he live for music that was his life. this something he said plenty of times. it made happy and in his lyric they were not just words it was all from the deepest part his heart and soul. He was amazingly gifted that he also compose many different songs for different groups. Drama ost remember him for what happen to him is not how I rem ember Jonghyun. He was and is an amazing Artist..that brought happiness to so many of us everyday. With his smile... tears and the pure love he felt his Fans. there were moments that he was so greatful he would tear up. started to crying. we meant alot to him and as he did to us all. He will always be with us. #JONGHYUN our precious Angel who gave his gifts of music for us to love and cherish it forever!! JONGHYUN you did well and worked hard. A Composer from the heart and soul!!💎
you could've said nothing and act like this is the first time youve react about this performance, yet you tell the truth. I respect you man, usually people use kpop as a click bait to gain more viewer but i can see you are genuinely care about the content that you did and all of those video performance that you were watching, you're the man 😎
zinitaxo1 emotions aren’t weakness, especially in a situation like this. You’re here with us today, strong enough to even watch this video. I’ll be honest, I avoided it because I knew it would hurt to watch. You’re strong, and your emotions are more than valid, my friend
Kyra Hawkins Thank you for your words of comfort. I have some thoughts I try to comfort myself. I just feel that he somehow knows that a lot of people listen to and love his music. I am an Atheist. But for such people I wish there was something else after death. I can not avoid the song. I feel the need to hear him at least. But I've also been avoiding it for some time. I wish you a nice evening full of good music. :-)
As a fan of 10 years, i know that to many it can be frustrating to hear or see people talk about Jonghyun, his mental illness struggles and what ultimately happened to him. It was a painful outcome, but Jonghyun, in his time here with us, continuously spoke out and spoke about his mental illness and his struggles. He did so because he wanted people to know what he was going through, he wanted to make people not feel ashamed to admit their struggles and that by talking about it out loud, it would bring more awareness and help take a weight off. By disassociating him with mental illness and what ultimately happened to him, you're taking away his voice and the purpose of why he was speaking out and making it known. He wanted it to be known, and he wanted people to know that it wasn't shameful. We shouldn't hide what should be a reminder of the realities of mental illness. That was his point. As for this song, dont look too much into it. This song was about a break up, and it was dramatized for the stage and lyrically. Its not directly linked to his depression. Our Jonghyun had many problems in his life, his lifestyle as an idol just made it a little harder than it needed to be, and his problems just seemed to stack up. He craved a simple life, he didnt suit idol life - but he never regretted being in SHINee, he would often express that he felt he had spent all his luck by being in the group, and that if he were given the chance in another life to be an idol, he would do it again only if he was in SHINee. He greatly appreciated the fans, shawols, who helped him build this fandom and listened to him and appreciated him and his music. He was always grateful for that and expressed it often. This is a reminder for all shawols and non shawols - dont disassociate him from his struggles which he fiercely advocated for not only himself, but for others. Dont discredit him of his hard work and twiddle all his works down to depression, he was a kind man and had a big heart, he wrote and sung of many things he loved also. Last but not least, dont stop considering him as still being part of SHINee, a group he worked so hard to create and cared for very much. If anything, remember him as the gentle, puppy-eyed boy first seen in 2008, who ultimately cared too much.
I will never be able to forget Jonghyun , one of the most talented artist of all time, his letter was heartbreaking. South Korea has one of the highest rate of suicide in the world, even kids commit sucide over there, they don't care enough about mental heath. South Korea has a really huge problem to solve!
Zora Domain Thank you for this comment! I’m a new fan of his & I can see what an amazing talent he was, & an intense person. He was many things & having a mental illness was also one of those things. Depression is a very complex disease. It hurts to think he could not defeat it! But I want to focus on the best thing about him! His music, which is his legacy!
The thing with Jonghyun is, when he sings, you feel it. To the point where his high notes his low notes are not the main point of his songs, it’s the emotion the he makes his listeners feel. Like a connection. That’s why I believe, that his singing is not just to reach high notes, but to express what he feels, and to make a connection to his audience..He is an amazing singer, and a great person too. ^^
i agree.. i love how you can tell the emotions right off the bat when he starts singing. even if you don't know the lyrics of the songs or the translations of it, you can tell the song's emotion when you hear it.
@@yerielking9722 - I am a new fan of SHINee as well. - I have always thought he would have done well in acting and comedy, too . Maybe a residency , so they wouldn’t have had to travel.
I high key hate how media turn jonghyun into the poster boy of kpop idol who commited suicide bcs of dark side of kpop. Jonghyun have accomplished so many things and people deserve to know all those great things he have achieved. He was a great singer, performer, variety show, etc beside all that great qualities evey idols should aspire to achieve, he was also a great human being overall who stands up for minorities, etc. thanks for reviewing this performance! It become one of my most favourite live performances and I’m glad someone knowledgeable points out what makes this so good, plus spreading what a great vocalist jonghyun was
Jonghyun was such an artist and he was so talented and kind ! Like you said people who don’t know much about him just say he committed suicide due to Kpop industry, but people don’t realize that jonghyun was so insecure about himself and he thought that he was never good enough.... I wish he had realized how incredible he was !
I was very affected by his passing and seeing people only to refer to him as a poster boy for suicide hurts even more because it’s as if his accomplishments were erased
I actually don't agree. His works are very much cherished by many and even though he had passed his works were still hitting number 1 charts in korea even a year after. Most idols made sure to talk about him in podcasts and interviews, and many MANY fans shared their thoughts and love for him over social media. And as for him being the "poster boy for suicide" i also differ on that. Jonghyun is the biggest korean idol to pass from suicide up to date, but it's because of the state of korea concerning mental health and the fact that he is not THE FIRST to do so is why this is happening. They aren't just using him as some poster boy, they are using him to spread awareness in hopes that something will be done about how hard the industry and korea carries their idols. Don't just think of it as the media saying "look at this man who committed suicide because he was depressed." Look at it as if they're saying "look here and see what we did. See what we DIDN'T do. This man had struggled for years and cried for help and we barely did anything. Things must change in the industry and this is the reason why."
Seerah Danielle yes im thankful jonghyun is remembered like that now ^^ i wrote this comment years ago, at the time, so many media are using him passing away to get clicks :(
Rest in peace beautiful soul and thank you Sam for reminding us what a wonderful angel voice he had.... ❤️ My heart will truly never recover from the loss but his music will stay with us forever ❤️ [edit] Thank you so much for the like, i respect you a lot and i m happy that you actually saw my comment
I forgot about the second half of this performance.... It honestly hit me like a ton of bricks. Great job commentary btw. You're actually informing viewers instead of just reacting. Thank you!
Michelle I hadn’t seen it before, but I was crying already, then the second half came and I was just bawling! Hit me hard, too. He was my first kpop bias ever! I will always love him.
I've been asking for this reaction for so long and now that is here I don't know if I'm mentally prepared for it. Jonghyun was, and still is, such and inspiration, a really kind angel with beautiful talent. His departure hurt so many, it still hurts to think about it and it will keep on hurting for a long time, but he deserves to be rememberd not by his suicide but by all the art he left behind, for his performances and unforgettable moments he provided us with. Jonghyun, you did well. 💕
I wasn't prepared but I still clicked on it because I know this will be good. I'm still not watching his old videos. I know I'm not ready yet. It took me months to look at Shinee again. I feel shameful that I couldn't be there for the four but when Jjong passed on, I also lost two pets for old age during that time and was already in a depression, panic attacks and had suicidal ideations for months. When I felt ready to watch fanvids from the concert it really broke my heart. Tears are always inevitable. For Jonghyun himself and for the boys. It was a mixture of mourning, a bit of regret for being a coward fan and a huuuuge amount of pride for them five. They will always have my respect.
+FX Mong I know how you felt, I'm really sorry for the departure of your pets. I haven't been able to hear any new song from SHINee, neither have I had the courage to watch any presentation or tribute to Jonghyun. It's hard, but I'm also proud of being here, alive, and watching them keep going even though they were devastaded. Thank you for not giving up, it must have been awful for you, you're also someone to be proud of. 💕
Thank you... and you too. I know when the right time comes we will be ready to see him again and get reminded more of his beautiful soul, the laughter he could give, his talent and his art that he loved the most rather than his pain. For now I just can't yet... It's still too fresh for me. Tho yeah, I listened to their songs but I didn't listen to it during the releases. Especially, "Our Page" I'm very thankful to Shawols for always standing by their side
@@sfxmong5988 I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who felt like a coward. I supported Shinee's recent comeback and listen to their album, yet I still felt scared to stan them like I normally did. Through countless hours of browsing the Shinee tag on Tumblr to reading fanfics of Jongkey and 2min. It didn't feel natural or comfortable for me to do that. The pain felt too real. However, I've recently began to realize that even though Jonghyun's physical form left us his presence is still with us. Although we can no longer physically see or hear him in any new SHINee comebacks, we can still appreciate and rejoice in his musical legacy. He wouldn't want us to dwell on his moment of vulnerability, but rather to remember him for what he is. A beautiful person who brought many smiles to our faces. Also remember that SHINee's other name is 5Hinee, which means that the group has five members. We still have Jonghyun's presence with us so we can still continue to support the rest of the members.
We all have our own ways of coping. I know many Shinee fans who also still cannot look them up even til now.... but Jonghyun remains alive inside our hearts
Jonghyun once said that he learned how to sing like he did because he didn't have friends after practice, so he stayed for longer to practice on his vocals at the time. I've been listening to kpop for about 14 years now, so I basically grew up with SHINee. I'm very sad that he's gone, but I'm happy that he was here to share his talent with all of us, as well as the new fans who are still getting to know him today through his solos and through SHINee.
@Pumpkin - I found my comments from several months ago . I didn’t know that about him. I am a huge fan of Michael Jackson , and he also gave up a lot of “free time” to devote to his music . I think there’s a lot of jealousy in the music industry as well. .
jonghyun probably was one of if not was the best vocalist in kpop, he wasn’t just about impressive and loud high notes he had actual talent that was also mixed with his insane ability to bring emotion to his performances. it’s hard to go back to his performances because it’s hard to think of the pain but when i go back to them i get so in awe reminded of his talent, it’s sad people would rather talk about him being gone than remembering his insane and incomparable talent and i just miss and love him, thank you for this reaction 💓
He has all the control in his solos stages and albums! He actually is a producer too not only for himself but for others too! Please watch or listen to Lee Hi’s Breathe with eng subs which is written by him for her! Also his latest solo album was amazing ❤️
I'm really happy to see you reacting to Jonghyun😊 he is my favourite vocalist and it's always nice to hear your opinions Btw, Jonghyun had alot of say in the artistic process, he always tried to portray certain emotions or character in both his music and performances. In his performance he always was able to capture the entire stage and he used that to show his own raw emotions and it's honestly just incredible ❤️
am so sad again, the thing is i only discovered shinee one day before his death :( i swear to god it was the weirdest thing that happened to me, i watched their videos for hours before i slept, i woke up and bam i read the shocking news, i felt depressed for more than a week as am dealing with the *black dog* myself, he was by far the only kpop singer i see perform with such emotion this performance will always get me teary and sad.
I listened to Shinee for years, but only found out about Jonghyuns solo stuff right before I enlisted. It became all I listened to until I left. At Basic when I got my phone, I used my time to listen to his newest album. A couple days after AIT and I got back home, he left. I cried so hard despite not being close to crying from all the training. He was a magical soul. Thank you Sam for reacting to this.
Welcome to SHINee World! Jonghyun is happy you're a Shawol no matter when you became a fan. Our Moon Prince loves you and doesn't want to see you too soon, okay? ♥ 5HINee Forever ♥
@@TheHekateris aaaw thank you so much dear, your nice words make me love shawols even more ♡ may his soul rest in peace i wish from my heart he's happy wherever he is..
I think it's a really important detail that he said what his opinions were but he was also very respectful towards Jonghyun. Not only that but he put the Suicide Hotline in the description which only shows how serious he is about this and I really respect that, so thank you. ❤ RIP. Jonghyun...
Thank you so much for showing off our Jonghyun’s talent and for not using him as clickbait. He was so, so talented and such a committed performer and a great lyricist and songwriter and all around person. The ending of this story is sad, but we will always have the memory of our Jjong and how much he loved music and Shawols, as well as how much we love him. You did well, Jonghyun
This performance already made me cry before... But after what happend even more. The lyrics have a whole new meaning, I feel like there are my words to him, what I'd like to say to him.
thank you so much for this reaction, it warms my heart to see people hearing of jonghyun and his work! your reactions are really different than the others because you geniunely care about both the quality of the performances and the people watching your videos, so thank you 💕 i'd recommend listening to more of jonghyun's performances (end of the day, skeleton flower, please don't go (with shinee's onew) etc.) and of course - lee hi's breathe. jonghyun wrote that song and it has a special place in the hearts of his fans because of its meaningful lyrics...
*With the originators (Alejandro Sanz/Y Si Fuera Ella/Hyeya/And if it was her) consent, Jonghyun translated this song from Spanish to Korean with some changes to the lyrics. Honestly speaking, the flow of Jonghyuns' voice blew this song out of the water. His performance was emotional, passionate and gripping. His vocal skills/explosive, powerful and smooth as butter and yes I am proud of you Jonghyun, you did an outstanding job.*
I'm really happy that you appreciate his skill to use dynamics to express stronger feeling. In my opinion this is an amazing skill for a good singer to be able to use it correctly.
blossom People need more than a number to count with. Instead of treating as an individual issue, it's often because of negligence and lack of understanding that someone dies like this. It wasn't a suicide. It was an extreme case of negligence of many what took his life. Until the very last second and even ever all that happened he was showing what he needed from all those he did so much for, but he was left alone and mistreated. It was absolutely avoidable. No matter what people prefer to see.
Of course people need more than a number but loneliness kills people too. This hotline number is really important for people who are looking for an understanding person but can't find one. Everyone needs to be more aware of suicidal people and take care of them, i hope everybody can find happiness
A. A. I agree so much it could have been avoided but no one noticed no one wanted to notice when you look back it makes it hurt even more 💔 I wasn’t a fan for long before it had happened but then I wanted to see for myself who he was and I saw a lot of pain that could have been avoided if someone just paid attention just a little more attention....😔
He was a real artist. Every one of his performances are so real and sincere just like his voice came right of his heart. He inspired and still inspires so many people. It's amazing how one person can have so much influence on people but he's special, unique, and legends like him will never lose their power.
Ohhh I’m crying right now (happy tears). Sam, thank you so much for this reaction. I hope you keep reacting to Jonghyun because he has such a variety of music and performances that I can’t stop enjoying. Is really sad what happen to him, but is important to remember him the way he always expected us to do, as a happy puppy but a great artist. He left us with so much love and happinesses that it is what I will keep because I will smile remembering him. Thank again. Pd. Please react to his live performance with Onew “Please, Don’t Go” is such an amazing duo, you will love it
can i just say how much i appreciate it that you didn't start this video off with talking about what happened to him. so many people who react to his videos now do this big speech before even starting the reaction, when they didn't even know him very well. always leaves me with this bitter feeling when people talk about him and what happened and maybe throw in some thoughts about how harsh the industry is when this isn't even the sole reason for what happened. i miss seeing people react to him without a bias and just being amazed by him and his talent and you pretty much gave me that feeling again, where i'm just proud of him for affecting people like that with his music. even though you mentioned it in the end, you did it very respectfully and without assuming things, so really, thank you so much for that.
I completely agree. I feel like most people who aren't true shawols constantly bring up his death because that's all they know of him. He is so much more than that. Yes, to this day I'm still deeply saddened by his passing but it helps me to remember the great impact he had. And frankly, he still feels alive because his presence is still there. There are so many great memories with him. If you listen to his music, you can feel his presence because his music transcends time.
Jonghyun is one of the best singer ever, he can deliver the emostion and messages of his song. I remembered when first time listening this song I cried even though I don't understand the lyrics.
FINALLY!! I hope you will listen to other shinee's songs, especially Excuse Me Miss, the performance is amazing and also funny. Thank you for this reaction, anyway.
Jonghyuns foundation 'SHINY Foundation' has already been launch last sept 6. Its for the youth im performing arts who has been through struggles like him. All the royalties his songs will earn will be the main fund of the foundation. Support his foundation by purchasing his songs or donating. Please folow the foundation on Instagram and TH-cam guys. P.s. its name is shiny foundation because his mother wanted it to shine like jonghyun and SHINee

daysjours its really so new and i think only the requirements or guidelines were put up. And I think his sister just said today we will hear good news soon, something were been waiting for so lets hope for everything good.
Jonghyun has this power on his voice, making us feel every part of the song. I miss his voice and brightness, thank you for recognizing how amazing he was, and will always be
the lyrics are about not being able to live without someone in their lives. he didn't even write these lyrics and they're just a performance, with his acting in this video just a character. please be respectful and stop trying to find hidden meanings in any song he has performed.
I'm not trying to find hidden meaning... I meant the way the lyrics ended up connecting to reality. I really didn't mean it was like a hidden confession or something.
AMANDA no need to berate this person for just being honest. It happened to me too. We have every right to express our feelings and cry when the lyrics touch us in any way. I don’t think it was disrespectful, just someone expressing their personal experience.
transcribed this part because it really resonated with me: "This part makes me so sad, like, it's... for obvious reasons. I don't know how much control he has in the artistic process, or if he chose to do this part of the performance like if it was his idea (or what was going on), but he is SO committed to it. He's a hundred percent in this character and it's a pretty big character, actually, at this point. But the thing is, human emotions aren't always small. You can have an authentic and theatrical human emotion and that's, I think, what he's showing here, because, obviously, he's feeling very strongly about things. That's so apparent but he's letting it move through his body as part of this performance. And I think that that's really cool, uh, that he was so willing to surrender to his character. Because I don't know how much of it is a character and everyone who's performing--it's partly themselves, but it's an amplified version of that and there's some other stuff... outside voices come in and say, you have to be this, but I don't know how much of it is character but it's still so... telling that he's able to be this open with it. Whether it's a character or whether it's something that he's feeling very strongly inside him, he's being very open and honest with it and I think that that's super valuable in a performer."
I don't know if anyone else has commented this yet but: This one is one of the group's first songs and Jonghyun's very first solo from their first album, and while I do not know if this kind of performance for it was his choice or not, Jonghyun is a very emotional and empathetic person. He might not "relate" to the feeling of this song but he can totally understand it and he's also very passionate about what he's doing. From those 6+ years I've been in kpop, Jonghyun is the only singer that can always make me feel whatever he wants to convey with his or SHINee's songs, without even knowing what the lyrics mean.
@@vantheschoolbus707 Wow. Imagine having so little to do with yourself that you have to come and correct someone's tense when they're speaking about someone who is clearly dear to them. The word they use doesn't change what they feel or Jonghyuns accomplishments. Their feelings are on going, therefore "is" would be proper. Even if it weren't, do you get off on reminding people of tradgey and heartbreak? Does it make you feel warm and fuzzy inside to hurt people who are already hurting? Get over yourself and let people speak about him in past or present tense. As long as it's supportive and positive, who cares?
I apologize for my comment. It was very unessasary. The last thing I would ever want to do is to upset someone over this especially talking about jonghyun. I thought that if you were to refer to someone that passed, you would use past tense. I’m sorry if I upsetted anyone😌 it was very hard for me to accept his passing.........
VaNeLLaWHat ? can you please delete your earlier comment, it's so incredibly insensitive, smh... Have enough empathy and emotional intelligence to recognize that syntax is irrelevant in certain scenarios, many shawols speak of Jonghyun in present and even future tense because we stand with the belief that he will always be apart of SHINee and that he lives on through his works and the members. Be quick to understand, and slow to correct or judge.
Sam, I know you just a few weeks tho, but the way you do your notes through the videos, make my day better hahahahhahaha. I try to learn singing by myself, and your videos helps me a lot!!! And I love your persona hahahaha Good work, continue to this
Hearing this reminds me why I actually love him. He’s one of the best interpreter I’ve ever heard. I don’t want to remember him as the guy who committed suicide; He was such a great singer and person. I can’t stop felling sad when I see how people just reminds him for his choice. He did well. Please stop acting as if suicide was the only thing he did. He did a lot of thing that deserves to be remembered. He did well, You did well Jonghyun.
I’ve been a fan of SHINee since I was 8 years old (ten years) and Jonghyun was and will always be one of Kpop’s most talented performers. He put his everything into SHINee and his artistry and it just makes me happy knowing that he was able to fulfill his goal of being a poet and artist loved by many. Thank you for this. It actually made me extremely proud. Please do more Jonghyun. He has so many more amazing performances
I thought I was ok but now I realized I was not ready yet. I am still a mess ... already 9 months 😭😭😭😭😭😭 18th of every month is very difficult for me... I could not concentrate at all, I sigh all day long, I felt so lost. How to I cope when Dec 18 of this year come? 1st year anniversary 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I thought i would be okay at 6 months, I watched something then nope, I still bawled. It's been an extra 3 months since then, but it still isnt any bloody easier. I seriously loved his voice...
He was so talented... not just with his voice but with his songwriting. His last album was really really heavy but so relatable. Additionally, some of his songs are my go to listen when I'm feeling down as they comfort me.
I knew Jonghyun as a great artist he was. I was admiring his talent and his commitment to many things. I knew him as a solo artist and listened to his music before I found out about Shinee. His music helped me through really tough time. I've never called him as my bias nor I called myself a fan of him. There wasn't such need to find a name for my feelings for him. But when he left... It literally killed something inside me. I had hysterical howl for hours, for three days I could only cry to the point I was dreadfully exhausted. Because he and his music gave so much for me during my worst days, his departure brought back all the dark inside of me. Since then I've hardly recovered back and I still cannot listen to his music without tears nor watch his performances. Even though I wished you would react to his voice, it was difficult to watch. Moreover, as I've already mentioned that I wasn't your typical fan of his and didn't know everything about Jonghyun, I also didn't watch this performance before (yet I heard this cover thousands time). I didn't know how the performance goes. Dear lord, it made me cry so much. It's so painful for me. I'm sorry I'm writing all of this here, I just have to share these sudden emotions that were provoked by this performance. Anyway, I would also want to thank you, Sam, for being so tactful mentioning his departure. Also thank you for making this video despite what happened with your camera. Many people including me really appreciate it. Thank you.
i totally get you and feel the same. I had watched this performance long ago already, and i remember thinking at that time "how much he must have inside of him to give such emotions, so much pain"... sadly last year it became too clear. I still cant listen to his songs or shinee's old songs either, it just hurts a lot
Jonghyun always seems to have so much passion when he performs because he connects himself to the story. Even if it wasn’t originally his, or didn’t pertain to his life, he always connected himself with it. He showed us how passionate he was in performing by connecting himself to the storylines. He always manages to put himself in the situation of the song he is performing and performs it with all of his heart as if it was his current situation. He was such an amazing artist. i would love to see you react to more of his performances or music and SHINee’s music as well!
It's sad that you had to redo the video because of technical issues knowing that this is one of the most requested video for you to react on, but still thank you for reacting. Jonghyun will always be one of the best singer and artist kpop will ever have. His talent and skills are undeniable, and his heart and passion is immeasurable.
I'm crying, Jonghyun's voice is very beautiful and this performance is very emotional too 💕 *Thanks for making this video, the things you said in the end sounded so beautiful and sincere and I keep them in my heart* 💎
RIP Kim Jonghyun. You did well. This video made me sad, but this performance always does. Your analysis, however, made me very happy because it allowed me to understand in a technical sense how amazing Jonghyun was and is. I really thank you for reacting to this. I love your videos because you're always so honest and you really are an amazing teacher.
Sam, as one of the people who requested you react to a Jonghyun performance - thank you, from the bottom of my heart. It's such a deep gesture of respect and a tribute to the talent and person that Jonghyun was, to have his amazing performance analyzed by a professional like you for us, his (and your) fans. I haven't been able to listen to his music at all since his passing, this is the first performance I've watched since then...Thank you for how genuine you were, how you hit all the right notes with your message in this video, thank you for all you do!
Thank you SO much, I’ve been waiting for this ! I’m moved to tears everytime I hear this song, it’s one of my favorite performances of Jonghyun. And you’ll see, there are so many more amazing performances from him and SHINee !
finally you reacted to jonghyun. he is indeed a great singer and performer. also please react to onew and jonghyun's "don't let go" and shinee's songs "excuse me miss" and "stranger". thank you!
Hey, just one curiosity, the original song is actually called 'Y si fuera ella' by Alejandro Sanz, a spanish musician. You might want to check that version, I don't think a reaction is necessary. The lyrics aren't a translation, they are actually written by Jonghyun. But there is a cover of Jonghyun's song by a famous and really talented korean singer Son Seungyeon on a tv show; you can find it as "King of Masked Singer 'the East invincibility'- Y Si Fuera Ella". I think this is worth a reaction, I'll leave you the link for this performance. th-cam.com/video/9mvqXMMlefk/w-d-xo.html Edit: It was actually written by Kenzie, my mistake.
@@joanaduque9605wtF dude. I'm from Spain and you are SO wrong. Alejandro is one of Spain's most treasured singers. Alejandro's song is iconic and if it wasn't in the first place, Jonghyun wouldn't even noticed its existence 😂 So shut up. Have at least some respect for the person who composed the song
You seemed so mesmerized watching Jonghyun sing he really is a professional you must’ve really enjoyed his performance. That’s our king right there shining with shinee. You probably are tired of seeing comments of people saying how we miss him but we really do. But in this comment I want to tell you thank you. Thank you for helping me to perform better thank you for praising the person that I love more than anyone in this world thank you for watching his performance he made such a big place in the history and I hope I be like him one day. Thanks to you I have more hope that I might be like him one day
I jut want to say thank you. I noticed that you paid attention to how to pronounce his name and it's the little things like that that make us feel better. Paying respect even in a minuscule way. Love your channel
I would really appreciate it if you reacted to "End of a Day" by Jonghyun. It's a really touching song in terms of lyrics and I believe that Jonghyun did everything from instruments to writing it as well. Please react to it, I'd love to hear it!
Just as he said 'Hyeya' I choked up and my eyes got watery and my heart is, like, squeezed it hurts so much. I was really devastated that day I saw the news and all the songs from Shinee or just Jjong's is making me emotional that I've never listened to any of their songs for a long time. This is the first time I listened to his song again because I've been a frequent visitor of this amazing channel. As I was writing this comment, I can't really type that well because my whole body got soft (the same feeling came back again when I heard about his passing) but I still typed this even if I'm an emotional wreck right now because I want to share my story and my love for Jonghyun and how he touched me with his voice since 2009. You did well Jjong-ah~~ I will never forget you and your voice
Thank you so much for analysing and explaining Jonghyuns singing. It really puts to perspective how much homework he did with regards to his work. It’s almost understanding him through his musical side which many of us don’t understand cause we are not musicians and or understand music and what he was thinking and expected of himself. He really was so amazing and it is such a tragic loss to the world to lose him. Thank you again.
I'm still very sensitive about this, so I'm going to try to express myself softly (as he does). Jong still lives inside of us. I think his biggest quality is that special way to feel how others feel (Blue Night and Story Op. 1 & 2 tell us that). So he really let us feel. Apart from perfect skills and commited performances, Jonghyun is a lair of humanity. He is and will always be irreplaceble. I love this so much and thank you for shining this to your viewers eyes :)
If you have time, can you react to WooHyun’s performance of a song called Last Promise on Immortal Song? He got the highest score out of all idols in the history of the show!
Yes please!! I’ve requested this performance more than once. Woohyun did an incredible job during that stage. He really knows how to put all of his emotions into a song, I always start to tear up when I watch that performance
Jonghyun has such an emotional voice he's still my favourite vocalist after 7 years of kpop I don't like when people just remember him because of his passing, he was and still is such a good singer and such a pure soul, you can feel the emotion and the message through his singing without having to understand the words, and I love that Remember him for the good things, not the bad xx
I don't use to comment in the videos, but today I have to do it because I'm so thankful to you for reacted to Jonghyun, also I don't know if somebody before me told you that this song "Y si fuera ella" is originally by Alejandro Sanz and even him was honored by this interpretation of Jonghyun. I'm thankful too for the explanation and advices that you give to us. I hope that you can react more about him or some content by SHINee and hope that you're a having a nice day 🤗
Oh gosh. The tears. My heart. He was such a great performer and singer. The way he expresses his feelings through songs just... warm my heart ... and my eyes the tears can’t stop. He just touches your heart
People of the comments, stop remembering as if suicide was the only thing he did, he stood out in many things and it would be better to remember him for it
wеα мíα si мe gustαn los chinos preach
YES!! I completely agree
Yes! Finally someone has the same point of view as me!
A lot of kpop fans who were never really SHINee fans keep doing this, reducing him to his sickness, erasing all the beautiful and amazing sides of who he was. As if that was the only thing we (Shawols) think about when we remember him.
*Instead of thinking*
*"oh no here's the high note"*
*You're thinking*
*_"Oh no here's the floor"_*
I'm still laughing 😂😂😂😂
And he was literally on the floor moments later thru the song ahahah
😂😂
I laughed at this comment so much
@@nathalyvivero8179 same xD
I hate how suicide is how people will remember him, he was an amazing vocalist and person.
Unfortunately I agree, it's always like this.
People appreciate the person only when that person is gone
SM let him pretty much do whatever he wanted bc they knew his potential and I think he also chose to perform this song that way
I thought the first one was Henry?
tysedon Trap did come out in 2013 but it wasn’t a fully self-composed album. As far as I know Henry didn’t compose or write anything in Trap, he might have co-written it tho
@@pianoandkpop eh could you tell me the english translation bcs i cant found it anywhere
@@bluegirl3697 shawols on twitter has translated bits of his novel.
But the song is a cover
@@ilsai3363 ahhh. I understand. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I hope things are going better for you now

awh..don't worry he is in a better place, although we may never cure the heartbreak and heartache, we can always stare at the sky in tears, remembering him, he is precious lets let him have that.
For me he is the best vocalist in kpop... His voice just fit with every genre beautifully
Exactly. He has one of the best voices in the game and amazing individual artistic style!!
So true
Not only in K-pop I think
it’s a F A C T
Exactly
It is acc not a cover... SM buy the song and Jonghyun rewrite the lyrics so basically it is his song..
@sj.j.y actually he did
It does sound like a Spanish ballad song from Luis Miguel or Alejandro Fernandez .
@@kk4epjj4ng its still a cover even if he bought the rights as he wasnt the original singer
you could've said nothing and act like this is the first time youve react about this performance, yet you tell the truth. I respect you man, usually people use kpop as a click bait to gain more viewer but i can see you are genuinely care about the content that you did and all of those video performance that you were watching, you're the man 😎
yeah... I could see his eyes getting a bit "shiny"... I am also trying hard holding back my tears...
I also felt that way.... I cried as usual. I am weak. :-(
zinitaxo1 emotions aren’t weakness, especially in a situation like this.
@@zinitaxo1 - I think you understood the song,
As a fan of 10 years, i know that to many it can be frustrating to hear or see people talk about Jonghyun, his mental illness struggles and what ultimately happened to him.
Thank you you make tear up because he was amazing person and artist
Zora Domain Amen
Zora Domain so I am the only one who is sure that he would never chose it again? Not in his next life, never again.
My Angel Jonghyun , you did well 😢
The thing with Jonghyun is, when he sings, you feel it.
It’s a thing, you have to do it as actor as well. He didn’t believe it but he could do this too cause he was able to feel all that emotions.
@@yerielking9722 - I am a new fan of SHINee as well. - I have always thought he would have done well in acting and comedy, too .

It become one of my most favourite live performances and I’m glad someone knowledgeable points out what makes this so good, plus spreading what a great vocalist jonghyun was
I’m looking at you MsMojo 👀
Don't just think of it as the media saying "look at this man who committed suicide because he was depressed."
Look at it as if they're saying "look here and see what we did.

Especially, "Our Page"
I'm very thankful to Shawols for always standing by their side
Eika Pumpkin I came along earlier this year. He had this pull, you couldn't help but fall in love with him.
God he’s such a legend his voice is really something. He gave so much to the K-pop industry. He will forever be missed.
Omg it made me cry, just looking at his face is painful ...
Yeah right 😔💔
ikr..
Comme le Rosé Feel pain for staying in a world where people like him are left alone.
Mhm same
same...
jonghyun it's been a year but you still shine like a star..
EXO -LOVER and he always will✊🏼
He has all the control in his solos stages and albums! He actually is a producer too not only for himself but for others too! Please watch or listen to Lee Hi’s Breathe with eng subs which is written by him for her! Also his latest solo album was amazing ❤️
I love how you talk in present tense:)❤
It's painful to watch, even still. He was such a great singer, and such an amazing human.
Jjong is so pretty when he sings. He really put all his emotions to it, he perfoms with his whole body, you just can't stop looking at him.
I'm really happy to see you reacting to Jonghyun😊 he is my favourite vocalist and it's always nice to hear your opinions
Btw, Jonghyun had alot of say in the artistic process, he always tried to portray certain emotions or character in both his music and performances. In his performance he always was able to capture the entire stage and he used that to show his own raw emotions and it's honestly just incredible ❤️
But this song is a cover
am so sad again, the thing is i only discovered shinee one day before his death :( i swear to god it was the weirdest thing that happened to me, i watched their videos for hours before i slept, i woke up and bam i read the shocking news, i felt depressed for more than a week as am dealing with the *black dog* myself, he was by far the only kpop singer i see perform with such emotion this performance will always get me teary and sad.
Me too, I was getting into them before his death and it was so sad afterwards
@@oniichanboo5017 oh... it was indeed the saddest news i still forget it happend sometimes untill i see the 4 members and he's not there :( :(
@@TheHekateris aaaw thank you so much dear, your nice words make me love shawols even more ♡ may his soul rest in peace i wish from my heart he's happy wherever he is..
''This part makes me so sad.'' well this whole song makes me sad. I wish people will remember Jonghyun as amazing person and amazing artist.
I think it's a really important detail that he said what his opinions were but he was also very respectful towards Jonghyun. Not only that but he put the Suicide Hotline in the description which only shows how serious he is about this and I really respect that, so thank you. ❤
RIP. Jonghyun...
I also noticed. I love his link. He is good person.
React to Jonghyun & Onew-Please Don't Go
Ana Caroline yes please ♥️💎
yeeeees 💕
Thank you so much for showing off our Jonghyun’s talent and for not using him as clickbait. He was so, so talented and such a committed performer and a great lyricist and songwriter and all around person. The ending of this story is sad, but we will always have the memory of our Jjong and how much he loved music and Shawols, as well as how much we love him. You did well, Jonghyun
Kim Jonghyun actually helped vocally train Exo's Chen as well!
Both are my biases. Jonghyun will always be my ultimate bias!
onlylexy - I didn't realize Jonghyun helped Chen like that. Wow! 😭💔
This performance already made me cry before... But after what happend even more. The lyrics have a whole new meaning, I feel like there are my words to him, what I'd like to say to him.
I thought the exact same. Whenever I listened to this song, I was almost crying - this time I was, because as you said, these are my words to him.
My Jonghyun is a legend.
thank you so much for this reaction, it warms my heart to see people hearing of jonghyun and his work! your reactions are really different than the others because you geniunely care about both the quality of the performances and the people watching your videos, so thank you 💕
i'd recommend listening to more of jonghyun's performances (end of the day, skeleton flower, please don't go (with shinee's onew) etc.) and of course - lee hi's breathe. jonghyun wrote that song and it has a special place in the hearts of his fans because of its meaningful lyrics...
Yeh, Diphylleia Grayi is such a beautiful song. I Love his way with words, he wrote with all him emotions.

I just wanted to say thank u, you really listen to your suscribers
*With the originators (Alejandro Sanz/Y Si Fuera Ella/Hyeya/And if it was her) consent, Jonghyun translated this song from Spanish to Korean with some changes to the lyrics. Honestly speaking, the flow of Jonghyuns' voice blew this song out of the water. His performance was emotional, passionate and gripping. His vocal skills/explosive, powerful and smooth as butter and yes I am proud of you Jonghyun, you did an outstanding job.*
Jonghyun voice can not be copied. His voice could and can be picked out of a crowd of voices. His loss will be felt forever.
yes :c
Whenever i see this performance I just immediately start crying I don't know i just can't help it
Oh me too. It's so deep
I'm really happy that you appreciate his skill to use dynamics to express stronger feeling. In my opinion this is an amazing skill for a good singer to be able to use it correctly.
Pleease react to more Jonghyun and Shinee, they deserve it.
Thank you for writing the suicide hotline number♡ this is really important
blossom People need more than a number to count with.
@@a.a.4251 i agree
Of course people need more than a number but loneliness kills people too. This hotline number is really important for people who are looking for an understanding person but can't find one. Everyone needs to be more aware of suicidal people and take care of them, i hope everybody can find happiness
A. A. I agree so much it could have been avoided but no one noticed no one wanted to notice when you look back it makes it hurt even more 💔
I wasn’t a fan for long before it had happened but then I wanted to see for myself who he was and I saw a lot of pain that could have been avoided if someone just paid attention just a little more attention....😔
If you listen to his music, you can feel his presence because his music transcends time.
same same
Jonghyun is one of the best singer ever, he can deliver the emostion and messages of his song. I remembered when first time listening this song I cried even though I don't understand the lyrics.
FINALLY!! I hope you will listen to other shinee's songs, especially Excuse Me Miss, the performance is amazing and also funny. Thank you for this reaction, anyway.

Jonghyun has this power on his voice, making us feel every part of the song. I miss his voice and brightness, thank you for recognizing how amazing he was, and will always be
When he sang 'I don't want to live' I just started crying...
the lyrics are about not being able to live without someone in their lives. he didn't even write these lyrics and they're just a performance, with his acting in this video just a character. please be respectful and stop trying to find hidden meanings in any song he has performed.
AMANDA Right.
Thanks for ur effort
Thank you for this❤️
More SHINee, more Jonghyun, more Onew, more Taemin, more Key, more Minho
I don't know if anyone else has commented this yet but: This one is one of the group's first songs and Jonghyun's very first solo from their first album, and while I do not know if this kind of performance for it was his choice or not, Jonghyun is a very emotional and empathetic person. He might not "relate" to the feeling of this song but he can totally understand it and he's also very passionate about what he's doing. From those 6+ years I've been in kpop, Jonghyun is the only singer that can always make me feel whatever he wants to convey with his or SHINee's songs, without even knowing what the lyrics mean.
VaNeLLaWHat ? I'm pretty sure the fact that I do not use past tense does not affect you in any way. Your comment was completely unnecessary.
@@vantheschoolbus707 she still feels this way about his music therefore it is not "was". It stays present tense.
And I love your persona hahahaha
Good work, continue to this
Hearing this reminds me why I actually love him.
I am still a mess ... already 9 months 😭😭😭😭😭😭
18th of every month is very difficult for me... I could not concentrate at all, I sigh all day long, I felt so lost. How to I cope when Dec 18 of this year come? 1st year anniversary 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I am too...
I thought i would be okay at 6 months, I watched something then nope, I still bawled. It's been an extra 3 months since then, but it still isnt any bloody easier. I seriously loved his voice...
Same. Jonghyu just started singing and i was already crying
I thought so too. I love him. I didnt really listen to kpop when he died but i got into it a little later and he keeps messing my heart up.
I knew this video was going to wreck me, I don't know why I still clicked :/
I can't believe I won't be able to hear him live
@Noobie Cucumber you made me feel that i want to cry
I’m sorry ❤️💔
He was so talented... not just with his voice but with his songwriting. His last album was really really heavy but so relatable. Additionally, some of his songs are my go to listen when I'm feeling down as they comfort me.
💞
heechulliebabo so true. A great songwriter.
His voice is so open and so beautiful ❤️
It's hard watching this without tearing up. RIP my angel 💔
I am crying. I started crying when i saw his face.
well damn it i was not planning on crying tonight!! jonghyun is a legend there's nothing more to say.. he will always live on in our hearts.
He’s a gem, isn’t he?? Jjongie always shines so bright.
He always sang from his soul. Always.
"Oh no here's the floor" 😂😂😂
Jonghyun always seems to have so much passion when he performs because he connects himself to the story. Even if it wasn’t originally his, or didn’t pertain to his life, he always connected himself with it. He showed us how passionate he was in performing by connecting himself to the storylines.
He always manages to put himself in the situation of the song he is performing and performs it with all of his heart as if it was his current situation. He was such an amazing artist.
i would love to see you react to more of his performances or music and SHINee’s music as well!

Sam, as one of the people who requested you react to a Jonghyun performance - thank you, from the bottom of my heart. It's such a deep gesture of respect and a tribute to the talent and person that Jonghyun was, to have his amazing performance analyzed by a professional like you for us, his (and your) fans. finally you reacted to jonghyun. he is indeed a great singer and performer. also please react to onew and jonghyun's "don't let go" and shinee's songs "excuse me miss" and "stranger".
I think this is worth a reaction, I'll leave you the link for this performance. th-cam.com/video/9mvqXMMlefk/w-d-xo.html
Edit: It was actually written by Kenzie, my mistake.
zara yes plis! Also the one in King of the song Breathe
Jonghyun didn't actually write the lyrics for Hyeya, it was actually Kenzie that rewrote the lyrics. It's listed on their concert discography.
@@joanaduque9605wtF dude. I'm from Spain and you are SO wrong. Alejandro is one of Spain's most treasured singers. Alejandro's song is iconic and if it wasn't in the first place, Jonghyun wouldn't even noticed its existence 😂
So shut up. Have at least some respect for the person who composed the song
Joana Duque delete this. we don't need this kinda toxic on here.
Oh, I always thought it had been Jonghyun. Thank you for the information
You seemed so mesmerized watching Jonghyun sing he really is a professional you must’ve really enjoyed his performance. That’s our king right there shining with shinee. You probably are tired of seeing comments of people saying how we miss him but we really do. But in this comment I want to tell you thank you. 2020 Jjong still one of the best voices in kpop ever. It’s a blessing to have his voice forever preserved in recordings.
I jut want to say thank you. I noticed that you paid attention to how to pronounce his name and it's the little things like that that make us feel better. Paying respect even in a minuscule way. Love your channel
Agree. He googled the names first so he wont misspell them. Big respect for him.
I would really appreciate it if you reacted to "End of a Day" by Jonghyun. It's a really touching song in terms of lyrics and I believe that Jonghyun did everything from instruments to writing it as well. Please react to it, I'd love to hear it!
Omg yes pls! I tend to avoid listening to is cause i cry every time i listen to it
Yes, please.
he always had one of the most powerful voices to ever exist. and it will ALWAYS be remembered and cherished.
Jonghyun R.I.P💔💔
Beautifully said

I don't like when people just remember him because of his passing, he was and still is such a good singer and such a pure soul, you can feel the emotion and the message through his singing without having to understand the words, and I love that
Remember him for the good things, not the bad xx
I don't use to comment in the videos, but today I have to do it because I'm so thankful to you for reacted to Jonghyun, also I don't know if somebody before me told you that this song "Y si fuera ella" is originally by Alejandro Sanz and even him was honored by this interpretation of Jonghyun. I'm thankful too for the explanation and advices that you give to us. I hope that you can react more about him or some content by SHINee and hope that you're a having a nice day 🤗
