King Kong is from the 1930s and actually worth watching. Old movies are pretty interesting. You can really tell they put thought into clever shots and lighting and all the little things that get lost in mainstream movies today.
I can't wait for you to see Goku's meeting with Krillin and their training...and LAUNCH. So many laughing moments, just for Krillin's face in various situations. I still laugh like a child today.
I really liked the fact that after losing his tail Goku actually had problems walking and getting his balance back, it's such a small detail but adds so much also it's pretty cute
@@animaechan Absolutely. I think all the voice actors of the original Dragonball series did amazing. They were at the top of their game. And Bulma's VA is spectacular 😊
Losing the balls wouldn't be that tragic. Your life would still be basically the same as always, however, you would lose several masculine characteristics that can make you a pervert if you are careless. Without the balls you lose your sexual instincts. Without balls there is no testosterone. Without testosterone there is no communication between your testicles and your brain, and this would seriously harm your libido and your sexuality, as you would lose attraction for women and anyone... in fact, you would lose interest in ANY TYPE OF THINGS RELATED TO SEX. You would pay more attention to other things.
Rewatching this reminds me of how awesome Goku's friends are! According to Berus, "The baka-ness is infectious!" From early you could see the influence on One Piece!
Toriyama originally planned to end the series after they finished collecting the dragon balls which took around 6 months in real time, then said he wanted to end it after a year. We still don't know if he planned for this story arc to last the full year or if he ended it early to start the next story arc. The truth is dragon ball hadn't been all that popular to start out. Toriyama thought to boost the series popularity and looked back to Dr Slump in which things like the Penguin Village Grand Prix had always been popular so he decided to make the series into a tournament format. By the time the Tenkaichi Budokai had started it became popular before he knew it. Toriyama loved classic movies especially Walt Disney animated films and Japanese Tokusatsu series and Godzilla. Goku's transformation in to a giant monkey is obviously a reference to King Kong as you said but the transforming by looking at the full Moon is from the Wolfman.
The reason why Dragon Ball continued after the defeat of Pilaf and the retrieval of the Dragon Balls was because his 1st editor, Kazuhiko Torishima, told him he should bring back Master Roshi, create Krillin, and end up making the series into the battle shonen it is today.
Crazy how everything would've ended here. Glad he continued tho, we wouldn't have the amazing characters and adventures that came after if he stuck to plan

Akira Toriyama loved Kaiju movies like King Kong, Godzilla and Gamera. Gamera has even directly appeared in a earlier episode as a baby. The turtle Roshi rides. Thats a cameo. Worth a google its neat.

When I was a kid, I was confused as to what happened to Dragon Ball and why I couldn't watch more episodes (unlike now, it was the 90s so you can't exactly look up the Japanese version). I wish it was dubbed as a whole before watching Z because that would've been a much better experience watching it.
If I remember correctly, Son Gohan told Son Goku to never go outside during a night of a full moon and then one night he did and he turned into a giant monkey and killed his grandfather without realising it.
Shu and Mai are precious, Pilaf can get squished anyday. Shu and Mai are practically pure in my book lol. Shu more than Mai, if I'm being honest. Shu is best boy. I always wanted a scene of Shu and Mai being rescued by Goku, sitting happily on kinto'un.
About when Dragon Ball was supposed to end, there are many rumors about which arc was meant to be the last one (most if not all of these rumors I believe were made when the series already ended for real, so their logic is based on hindsight), but this arc, the very first one, is the only confirmed case where Toriyama stated he expected the story to end right then and there. Other cases are from either later interviews where he gives a vague long-term prediction or from certain manga chapters that had notes at the end saying the story would continue for "just a little bit". For the record, Toriyama was known for never planning things out too far in advance, only a couple weeks at most. Thank you for your reactions to the first arc of the series! And knowing you're reading the manga as well, I hope you have fun with it too, even with its differences from the anime version.
I saw the trailer and it looks so cool! I also want to watch "Jellyfish don't swim at night" and Kaiju no 8... but I haven't even seen bocchi the rock from before :(( so many good anime, so little time!

Oh man! I’m so excited for this next saga, this is when the show takes a step up in my opinion. (Which isn’t to say this one was bad by any means… it’s just the “weakest” saga for me personally.)

尻尾を失って大きなショックを受けていたのに、瞬時に「まいっか」と気にしない悟空が大好きで、子供の頃から何度見ても笑ってしまいます。
アニメを全て見終えてからでも良いので、いつか原作の漫画を読む事をオススメします。
鳥山先生の描く漫画は無駄がなく、読みやすく、テンポも良いので、楽しめますよ！
