- Sorry that the lighting is terrible as it was mid summer in Wisconsin in July and the sun was at perfect noon. But it was the only time I had an opportunity to film polishing a wheel on the ground. Polishing using a jack is definitely my preferred method of operation as you have seen in almost all of my wheel polishing videos but everyone kept asking for a video on how to do it on the ground and on the truck so here is my way. There really isn't a right and wrong way when it comes to this topic. My way may not be right for you but here is how I accomplish it.
If you are looking for grinders or cords and stuff we use in the shop that aren’t available on goshineon.com all of these products used in this video are available at www.amazon.com/shop/metalpoli... or by the individual links.

Always an amaizing job👍👍
Thank you so much 😀
Great video again Evan. It's the worst having to do rims without spinning them. 😫 Your one of the best, if not the best. Thanks.
I'm far from the best but I try hard everyday. Doing rims without spinning them is super difficult. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. Truly appreciate you.
U answered my question on the cut and hand polish is acceptable…good to kno I just wanna dress mine up now and then and this is what I needed thanks my man
Happy to help. Thank you for watching.
You’re a legend
oh I don't know about that but thank you lol.
Great video as always! what could be causing black marks when I'm polishing? I dont mean pits, just black marks that wipe off when I wipe by hand. Too much rouge,? speed? pressure? I cleaned the wheel good before I started. Thanks for all your great stuff!
Gj evan season is winding down ,time for winter hybirnation and maybe a vacation with the family
we stay steady all winter. But definitely need a vacation. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Oh yesssss 😀
Thanks man 😎🤘🏼
You bet!
Thanks definitely the hard way .I’ll be sure to put that on the list of things not to do 😊
Difficult yes, impossible... no. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank you again for another great educational video.
Your the man
Glad to help. Thanks for watching.
I feel ya bud, I will get me a big ton Jack for my next jobs soon as I get some more under my belt, sadly the economy won't let me. Good thing is I just strated my first one this month, which was a total disaster
We all had to start somewhere. Its only up from the beginning. Keep after it and keep practicing.
I've done it on the ground by doing to bottom half then roll the truck forward do the next half then blend them together. Not ideal but I don't run show trucks just like to keep em shiny
To each their own way. If it works it works. Thanks for watching.
thats cool
Thanks for watching.
Hey man do you know when you can upload the video on how to jack up the semi and trailer?
sorry for the late response. It has be uploaded.
I’m fixing to do wheels on my Tri axle. Do you recommend 800-1000 grit to sand on tanks? Just back ends on fuel tanks are rougher than sides from rock pecks no dents just pecks.
Check out my video on sanding up to 2,000 grit here on my channel. I never sand above 600 grit but that video best explains it.
What’s the best way to remove the Alcoa stickers from new wheels? I’m hoping to sand smooth and polish my 22.5s before they get a chance to look bad so they are easier to maintain
I use a heat gun and my fingernail. But a razor blade works well too.
Before polish if you need to sand you use sandpaper P800 (FEPA) or 800 (CAMI)?
I never sand above 600.
I can't jack up my own trash truck but thats how I polish my wheels. nice video. did u finish with the green wheel or what wheel did u use to finish and what color block did u use
White wheel and green rouge. We used to jack up trash trucks all the time. Thank you for watching and commenting. Means a lot to us.
thank u for replying back. ? why didn't u use the the yellow wheel to finish with the green. like ur 2 step kit that u have. just curious
Are those still clear coated? Do you need to remove clear coating from aluminum via sanding before cut and color?
these ones weren't coated. If they are coated you would need to remove the coating before polishing.
This came out awesome, how would u sand it for prep ??
I would take it off and sand it.
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing 😂😂😂😂
What should I buy for just starting out polishing from the machine - products any advice
I will be polishing rims like the one in the video Btw keep up the good work 👍🏿
Goshineon.Com/shop has an aluminum kit. That’s the best place to start. Check out a bunch of my how to videos and you should do great.
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing ok 👍🏿 will do thank you
Can u put a link on how to jack the truck
Even, just so I have this correct: Cut with Orange Pad/Brown Bar; Hand polish and hand buff; and to finish you use a White Pad/Green Bar. Then you are done, correct?
This is just one way to do it. I usually do orange with brown then yellow with green on stuff that spins and don't have to go upside down. LOL
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing I appreciate it!
What do you use for removing road tar off wheels?

Hey Evan could you make a video of polishing a peterbilt step if possible
Check my channel. I have a peterbilt step tread video.
I just finished polishing my peterbilt ...it turned out beautiful..the only problem i had is the side of the step I tried every speed every angle and I did get it to shine but it's not mirror finish like the checker plate on the face of the step..it looks hashy in the sunlight
@@andrewwurz3036 Check out my video on how to polish diamond plate. It is definitely a different process a little to cut down on hash marks. If the video doesn't help let me know and I will walk you through a better solution.
Evan, what buff are you using for the color?
i’d also like to know, i just started polishing and most of my customers wheels are on the ground,
It is a loose 40 ply white with a green bar.
💥💥💥👍👍👍💥💥💥
Appreciate that.
So how do you price for polishing tanks and rims?
We have a certain starting price but it is really based on the condition of the metal and what type of polish they would want.
Hay evan what is the audio music in this video
not sure tbh
How much polishing?
Whatcha mean??
Now why did you use a white wheel with a green bar rather than a white wheel and blue bar?
I NEVER use blue bar. I find the color it leaves to be not to my taste.
That looked like it was a pain. No thanks ill keep using my jacks and homemade wheel polish tool. Just like the one you started with
Me too. I will always use my jacks.
