  • Sorry that the lighting is terrible as it was mid summer in Wisconsin in July and the sun was at perfect noon. But it was the only time I had an opportunity to film polishing a wheel on the ground. Polishing using a jack is definitely my preferred method of operation as you have seen in almost all of my wheel polishing videos but everyone kept asking for a video on how to do it on the ground and on the truck so here is my way. There really isn't a right and wrong way when it comes to this topic. My way may not be right for you but here is how I accomplish it.
    If you are looking for grinders or cords and stuff we use in the shop that aren’t available on goshineon.com all of these products used in this video are available at www.amazon.com/shop/metalpoli... or by the individual links.

    Great video as always! what could be causing black marks when I'm polishing? I dont mean pits, just black marks that wipe off when I wipe by hand. Too much rouge,? speed? pressure? I cleaned the wheel good before I started. Thanks for all your great stuff!

    I've done it on the ground by doing to bottom half then roll the truck forward do the next half then blend them together. Not ideal but I don't run show trucks just like to keep em shiny

    I’m fixing to do wheels on my Tri axle. Do you recommend 800-1000 grit to sand on tanks? Just back ends on fuel tanks are rougher than sides from rock pecks no dents just pecks.

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Check out my video on sanding up to 2,000 grit here on my channel. I never sand above 600 grit but that video best explains it.

    What’s the best way to remove the Alcoa stickers from new wheels? I’m hoping to sand smooth and polish my 22.5s before they get a chance to look bad so they are easier to maintain

  • @romerock1957

    Before polish if you need to sand you use sandpaper P800 (FEPA) or 800 (CAMI)?

    Are those still clear coated? Do you need to remove clear coating from aluminum via sanding before cut and color?

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      these ones weren't coated. If they are coated you would need to remove the coating before polishing.

    Even, just so I have this correct: Cut with Orange Pad/Brown Bar; Hand polish and hand buff; and to finish you use a White Pad/Green Bar. Then you are done, correct?

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is just one way to do it. I usually do orange with brown then yellow with green on stuff that spins and don't have to go upside down. LOL

      I just finished polishing my peterbilt ...it turned out beautiful..the only problem i had is the side of the step I tried every speed every angle and I did get it to shine but it's not mirror finish like the checker plate on the face of the step..it looks hashy in the sunlight
