Bro, your videos help me A LOT. I’m a porter and my job decided they wanted me to detail trucks too. Your videos have basically taught me everything I do. lol.
We have 4 trucks in our fleet. I've been watching you for the last 3 yrs you have taught well. One of these winters I would love to come hang out and take your class
Evan, I have learned so much from your how-to videos and have a grest time applying what you have shown, and have tought my self a few do's and do not's, keep up the good work. Have subscribed and do have notifications turned on. Thanks for your hard work on these video's
That tank turned out awesome! Not surprised tho, you’re work is always phenomenal. Thanks for sharing these tips and all your videos on here and instagram and keeping it simple and real. They really help. You’re the man. Thanks again
Can second that, down here in Tasmania, Australia watching this before I have a crack at polishing my freightliner tanks that are looking very ordinary 😬
Looks good. Thanks for the video. I detailed 18 wheelers for used truck dep@ PETERBILT Memphis around 02 to 04. Me and a buddy worked there in parts dep warehouse. During day. At night we would do their trade Ins. Loved those days. We made some good money. At first we didn't because the hours we put in just learning on the first few trucks was trial and error. Back in those days we learned a lot from drivers telling us anything. Learned a lot from Caswell buffing and plating. They use to have a written manual on website. Bout cut and color. There was no videos around then that we knew of. I will say this brother, you do an awesome job, and mastered this way more than we ever did. How has business been since the plandemic? Hell I lost my job over it. Thinking about getting in this again. Down here in MS
Evan, thanks for the wealth of knowledge and nuggets! Question: do you charge separate prices for the truck polishing/detail vs the tanks? I polished/detailed my neighbors semi, minus the tanks. My instructor recommended because the surface area of the semi truck $500. I did it for $400 because he's my neighbor. Fair, too high or too low? I'm retired Army and going through a autobody collision and repair course for my new career. I started doing side work in my rural area. I did try to wash the tanks (no experience). I washed them first and tried my most course pad. After seeing your other videos I realized they needed to be sanded. Thanks again! Jayson
Your price is your price. As long as you feel like the time you spent is worth the money you made after paying for your supplies and taxes then you are good. To me that is really cheap but my shop has a lot more overhead and I'm getting to old to keep doing this forever. LOL. But you are spot on for where I was when I started. Thank you for your service in the military. I truly thank you for your service. Without people like yourself we wouldn't have the great freedoms that we have. I do charge everything we do by the piece. Check out my how to price your polishing video I have here on my channel.
Wow man! You're a professional when it comes to this stuff.. I'm in the process of buying an old peterbilt. You can tell the tanks were polished at some point but I want to bring them back to this type of finish.. Not sure if there is a place in my area that does this kind of work.. I would try myself but I'm scared I would screw it up lol.
Awesome video. Detailing vehicles myself, you should try the Rupes Nano long neck, or the Flex "Pixie" PXE80 for tight spaces. I own both and they can run 1"-3" pads and have a lower profile. They also switch between rotary, 5, and 12mm throw. They might work for blending.
We have tried them and they work ok. But nothing replaces elbow grease in this capacity. I really like to feel what I'm doing and get a good grasp on my pressure. But you bring up a good point. I should make a video on this.
If you go slow enough with rotary to keep your rotary marks tight use interface pad extra thick and and make sure to keep your pad flat on the marks to smooth it put at the end you don't need to use a da to finish the cut out that is when finishing with 600 grit
I charge by the piece depending on how rough it is and how much work I need to do to it. If you are looking for an estimate text me pics of what you are working on and I'll gladly get you an estimate.
When u used the aluminum heavy polish u did that just after sanding and before u did your primary cut. The second part of the video did u colour and then use the time to shine after to eliminate blend lines ?
I have so many questions! I'm a detailer. I was recently asked to detail a heavy equipment hauler. The owner/operator typically takes his trucks a few hours away for full detailing and metal polishing but he was on a time crunch due to a fellow trucker's funeral in a few days. I told him I was up for the challenge and took the truck home. I had absolutely no idea what I was up against and failed miserably. But this client being the most down to earth guy was still very happy at how shiny I got the metal without a proper polishing kit. I did not charge him for my time spent failing but asked him if I could get some redemption after I research a bit. So, here I am on TH-cam. Would you have time to chat with me sometime to discuss the ins and outs of a project like this? I don't think big rigs will be something I advertise for but this particular client is one of the coolest I've met and I'd like to do his trucks on a regular basis. I just want to do it right and up to his expectations.
Great video, thanks for sharing! Excellent job blending the top of the tank! I could tell the difference but I'm watching full screen on my 17" laptop. I know why it doesn't look so good on camera, it's because the reflection of the tank is the ugly side of the truck.😉😉😊😎 That's about the same method I used hand polishing my tanks back in the day, I just worked a small area at a time & did one coat on the whole tank at a time. I just used different products. Everybody said that the polish they were using was the best but we're talking about truck drivers. Do you know the difference between a fairy tail & a truck drivers story? A fairy tail starts off, Once apon a time... Truck drivers story starts off, You're never going to believe this...
All depends on what you are running through and how well you maintain it after polish. If you run in mud or clay or rain all that time and don't wipe it it might not last. But if you keep it clean and on the pavement I know guys getting the polish to last years.
You said you have an amazon. Do you sell through amazon or did you mean your own account? Also where do you find the foam backing pads for the DA sander?
I have an amazon associates link in my descriptions in my videos for recommended products from me. The foam pads we sell on goshineon.com/shop. Thanks for watching.
bro why didnt you polish that tank strap with that surface rust bummer , I hate doing thos little ones with rubber that wraps around them iam curious how you do it cheer
As much time as yer putting into polishing this tank , it would be much easier and quicker to put some 3 ott steel wool on yer nifty thrifty car buffer and go to town, you’ll end up with a mirror finish !

I appreciate it, thanks for watching.
Came in clutch 💯
Thank you bud. Appreciate you watching.
Great job I find if you take off the lights which is only 3 or 4 bolts it just might give you enough room for the buffer instead of the elbow grease
I don’t like risking snapped bolts. I wouldn’t make it as a mechanic.
Awesome vid Evan!! You explain it so well👍🏼😀
Thank you bud. appreciate all the support. Thanks for watching.
Awesome video as always. I was gonna swing by your shop but ran out of hours here in fund du loc. Maybe next time

We have a how to polish diamond plate video here on our channel.
Well explain video Evan!

Hey have you ever tried using shark hide after you have polished it?

Yes they are and thank you for watching. Truly appreciate that.

So what did you use to sand it prior
And what grit do you think lumi would be
Thanks

Hey Evan, can I use a rotary or buffer to apply liquid polish where a buff can’t fit? Thank you
You can.
What do you use to remove the dark diesel stains, when you're restoring the gas tanks?
How much of a wait to get a truck in to get polished up
Always a few weeks to a month out.

Truck drivers story starts off, You're never going to believe this...
LOL I love trucker stories. They are my favorite. Thanks for watching and commenting. Truly appreciate that.
Great video Evan. Have you ever tried white polishing suits before? I’m wondering your opinion on them.
Yes I have. I'm not a fan of the added expense. I don't mind getting dirty everyday.
Have always been a little leery of sanding, I've always done a 3 step buff. Any advice for a sanding beginner?
Practice on something that doesn't matter first and don't go deeper than you need to. That is my best advice.
hard job man
For sure. Thanks for watching.
Thanks. We just did some tanks that blending is tricky. How can we buy you product
blending always takes time. goshineon.com/shop is where we sell all of our products.
How long will the tank stay like this, say in summer Florida heat?
All depends on what you are running through and how well you maintain it after polish. If you run in mud or clay or rain all that time and don't wipe it it might not last. But if you keep it clean and on the pavement I know guys getting the polish to last years.
Can you use the Luhmi on wheels that are in decent shape without sanding??
Sure can. I would recommend not sanding if using hand polishes. It is a ton of work to bring it back if you sand it.
Thanks Evan I appreciate it. Will definitely be ordering this week
When i do the hand polish i use rebel red
To each their own. I don't use rebel products anymore.
Hey Evan you should do a video on how to polish the flat faced ends on a tank, would be awesome and very helpful😀
I'm working on it. Just can't get the editing down.
You said you have an amazon. Do you sell through amazon or did you mean your own account? Also where do you find the foam backing pads for the DA sander?

What about the other side of the tank?
We don't do those unless the customer wants it done. Because it is not seen most people don't request that.
Unlike Japan, foreign tracks are big and cool.
It's surprising that the fuel tank is so big.
It's great that it's sparkling.

Why not just do the entire tank with a palm sander foam pads and these chemicals?
You wouldn't get the same results.

Lol. It’s a dirty job for sure.
