  • The Roland Go:Mixer Pro-X is a palm-sized audio mixer and audio interface designed to work primarily with smartphones (iOS or Android), allowing you to get multiple channels of audio into your device for recording or livestreaming. It’s small, portable and flexible, and has minor improvements over the previous Go:Mixer Pro, but is it worth adding to your DJ set-up? Let's check it out..

You can power it via micro usb in the normal way at the rear -mains, powerbank etc, and then feed the audio to the phone via the 3.5mm trs on the side (using an adapter for lightning devices). This then eliminates the battery-draw issue on the phone, this is the main issue with the old version, the external power and audio output are both the same socket on the rear. This one gives you the additional output on the side.

An acoustic Martin D18 guitar with a K&K mini pickup installed. A SHURE beta 87a phantom powered mic. A STOMP BOX made by ORTEGA and a Fishman Loudbox Artist amplifier.
Here is the question; I know the GO gives a dry signal, would it be a better idea to use DIRECT LINE IN LINE OUT and connect the amp to the GO? Would I then need to monitor with my headset in my amp or monitor with my headset plugged into the GO? Would the settings on my AMP have effect on the sound,...I mean is for example chorus and echo noted while monitoring? And the other question: Will my iPhone use the build in mic also when plugged in the GO?

@@ericbarata the Yamaha MG 10 XU has a USB interface in the back. You plug that into your laptop download the driver and then on your streaming software under audio settings selects the Yamaha Driver. It will pick up the audio from the mixer. I now use an even smaller Mackie Pro FX 6 V3 for streaming which works the same as the Yamaha. All USB mixers work for streaming. The USB IS an audio interface. In the back of your mixer check if it has a USB B type slot. If it does, it probably has an audio interface. The Yamaha MG 10 XU has it and the Mackie Pro FX 6 V3 that I personally own, have it.

I use a 4 in 1 out phono mini mixer. With the numark scratch having booth out on phono and master out on xlr. I use the xlr to phono to mini mixer in and then phono out with phono to female jack with a android rode adapter plugged into phone they all separate volumes to. Then use the booth output for speakers so can have the volume just right without having people in house shouting to turn it down lol. I can check the live stream volume on another phone while live streaming to adjust. Even tho the lil stereo mixer is four in one out and can be used other way round one in four out. So if you have controller that just has one output for speakers it comes in hand if you have used the sb3 before now plus the lil mixer dosent require power. Think peri jon jonni got me onto it.

This sounds like a great tool. One question/comment. I have a Samsung galaxy s21 ultra, and even when using the trss cable, when my tracks go from full song to an acappella part, the volume spikes until the beat comes back. Would that try to fix this issue, or is this a problem with the phone itself? I of course don't hear this drop live, only during playback of the mix. So not sure if my audience hears it live.
