I’m really curious how good the preamp sounds. When I bought my Scarlett 2i2 compared to the iRig for guitar, the difference was night and day. Especially with the bass guitar. The preamp on the Scarlett gave the bass that super pro sound. Made me realize the iRig sounded like a wet fart. I’m assuming this GO MIXER is kinda niche for social media use. At least that’s how they seem to be marketing it.
Hey David. Yes, I need to spend some more time with it. First impression is that the preamp has a little more noise that those on my other devices, like my ZOOM mixer and Steinberg interface. I think this is very much angled towards live streaming on social media, as opposed to more pro-sumer home recording using it an an interface. Watch this space!
Hi Pete. I have a roland go mixer. I need to follow the way to connect a condenser microphone. I also know that I need a power supply, but what is needed for connection. Thank you so much for the great video.
Hey there. Do you have the pro version? Unfortunately the original Go Mixer doesn’t have phantom power. You would need to use an external preamp that can send the signal out to the 3.5mm or 1/4” inputs.
good afternoon friend, thank you very much for all your videos, they have taught me a lot and thanks to you I have been able to start recording and making music in garageband. but I want to give you a support, there are people who do not know how to speak English (thank goodness there is a google translator) and I have seen videos of other youtubers that come with subtitles in Spanish (I am writing to you from the Canary Islands, Spain) it would be appreciated and you would surely win many more followers if there were translation below and we could understand much more what you teach us. You are a very good musician, you explain everything very well and I follow you and watch each of your videos, thanks for helping us. Greetings.

@@PeteJohnsMusic Now I hear that you actually mentioned it at the beginning and the end of your video 😂. It probably sounds strange, but I’m doubting whether to go for this device or buy the Tascam Model 12. Do you still like the GO:MIXER, nowadays?

Hey there. I think I had that connected up to my iPhone form memory? Sorry it’s been a while!! Was using the headphone out in to my mixer to Monitor most likely.
Hey there. I think it's more focused on live streaming and live performances where multiple devices need to be mixed down in to one stereo stream. Probably not going to be super useful as just an audio interface for recording individual tracks.
I've just got one of these and have a slight problem. I had to download the app to record onto my android phone with (which is fine) but when I play videos back there is a popping noise during the quiet sections and when I have more instruments playing, the track jumps massively and skips throughout. Do you think this is a level issue or because I've got 2 synths and a drum machine all going into the stereo in? Thanks
I kind of like it, despite the fact that it's a little fiddly. I have a Scarlett Solo interface. Do you think this makes sense as a replacement for it?
Hey there. I wouldn't rush in to anything personally. I think this is going to be much better for live performing and streaming as opposed to recording individual tracks in the home studio. Watch this space as I'll be adding more videos soon.
Excellent review... now I've had this on order for a month+, but the thing is back ordered EVERYWHERE and I can't find out why or even when it will be back in stock. Roland US will not answer... Does anyone knows or have insights as to that massive shortage? Thanks!
Hey there. It's made in China and I think that worldwide stock is just totally tapped out right now. Hopefully they can manufacture more now that things are recovering in some parts of the world. The US may take a while to start getting stock or a lot of consumer electronics I'm afriad.
Hi! Question, am I getting this right; If I wanna record/film myself playing a bass or guitar cover on a song, this device also records the SONG TRACK when you connect an mp3 player or phone? So you don't have to record the tracks separatly and then sync them together? (yes, Mr Untechnical Greenhorn asking here...)
Hey there Samuel. Yup, it will send a mix of the source track and your playing to the device and stream/record everything together. If you want separate tracks you would need to record individually and mix using something like GarageBand - th-cam.com/video/M_3ZzImE0-E/w-d-xo.html

Can you connect more than one iOS device at the same time, for example: the iPad to make music in Aum and an iPhone to record separately? Or that you would recommend me for what I want to do? Thanks
Hey there. So this is simply a stereo mixer so won’t have multiple inputs that can be separately manipulated. I would go with something like the Zoom LiveTrak if you need multiple channels - th-cam.com/video/ty9nEhDtmPg/w-d-xo.html

Hey there. Yes you can use a combination of mixer and interface. I haven’t actually done much with the Roland since this video but hope to explore it more soon.
Yes, I tried this out in my recent live stream, but used one of the 1/4” inputs. Could definitely go out from stereo TRS outputs to the stereo TRS in too.

I just picked mine up last week and I have also heard that they are not going to be shipping anymore. Can’t get them on amazon or the major music stores here in Canada. I landed the demo one in a store because I was there as the first customer since they were closed for over two months and was told there may be one at that store. I know there was one more left in Canada at a store in Montreal as shortly after purchasing it, I received a call from there online order support and the staffer by coincidence happened to be a former student of mine. I almost bought the second one in case a friend wanted one. Not sure about the initial input gain. Seems to me that the the main control was for playback only and the other four pots are for the actual input volume control for the specific connections. I used mine with the roland4xcamera app to make a split-screen video for my granddaughter. The camera app is free for a two split-screen experience and up to 4 split-screens with the in-app upgrade of approximately $4-5 Cdn. The Roland equipment is great but the support videos are almost this side of useless, especially for the camera app. Thanks for this demo of the Go:Mixer Pro.

Pete Johns, that would be fantastic as they seem to be popular but almost everyone in the reviews complains about the lack of information on how to get started and how best to use it.
