The problem with American Smarties, is that they are mostly just compressed tablets of dextrose sugar, and little else. Whereas the British, and Canadian Smarties are chocolate buttons with a candy coating. I personally will take a bulk bag of them to snack on whenever I can, over one of M&M's almost any day, as the M&M's are just too sweet for my palette at least. But this is just a personal opinion of mine and should in no way be construed as a generalized statement about British/Canadian Smarties vs. American Smarties.

As an american, smarties were always decently popular among young boys, due to the fact some would crush them into a fine powder and recreate drug usage. One candy I hate and don’t see mentioned enough is the generic strawberry hard candies. I don’t even know what they’re called, who makes them, or where people even get them, but they always seem to show up around Halloween, and every old person will probably have them if they’re the type to have a candy dish/bowl somewhere around the house.
The outside is okay, but they have this thick, gel-like center that has such an overly strong taste to it, it honestly reminds me of a cough medicine.

    *Rockets or Smarties?*
Here, in Canada, we have both!
Funny story: my mother used to be under the unfortunate _care_ of a doctor who would prescribe her lots and lots of pills. This meant that there were lots of empty pill bottles around the house.
Since my favourite candy, at the time, was the chocolate Smarties, I would sort them by colour, put them in cleaned pill bottles and create my own little Smarties medecine cabinet in an old shoe box.
When my mother would be taking a pill, I would eat a Smarties button candy to mimic her.
Seeing me eat so many candies made her realize just how many pills she was gulping down so she eventually quit the pills and the doctor. So did I, lay off the Smarties...
    Another triumph for Smarties!

Marshmellows in general are already way too sweet for me but peeps take it to another level. They are so grossly sweet. Thise heart candies are similar on hoe gross theu are but theyre both hross for a different reason, those heart things are rock fucking hard and taste like paper sprinkled with a microgram of sugar while peeps feel like my tongue is being violated and is itchy. I dont like intense amounts of sugar, hell i cant even finish a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch. Most american "foods" are too overloaded with sugar for me so i may just not be used to clogging my arteries but eugh

Agree Marshmallows are perfectly fine on their own, doesn't need to be covered in disgusting sugar. Peeps and Neco Waffers are the worst candy, Change My Mind. I actually like Swedish Fish, Licorice, Circus Peanuts, Artificial Banana. Don't mind Candy Corn in moderation.

Oreo makes a peanut butter Oreo. They are my absolute favorite ones. I don't know if they are Reese's or not though but they are good either way. I live in the Mohawk Valley area of NY so maybe they don't have them in to many areas around the world.
The mint m&m's were my neighbor's favorite ones so I would get him a bad once in a while when I saw them. The pretzel one are good to. Chocolate and pretzels go good together.
Candy corn was the worst of all I think, but to each there own.

  • @AiLoveAidoru

From what I’ve could tell, unbranded easter eggs might taste better or worse depending on the manufacturer. I remember Canada having decent enough off-brand eggs.
They weren’t amazing, but the sugar didn’t really overpower me. A lot of people I know tend to buy them for baking and cake decorating.
UK/Canada smarties are also a popular choice for cake decorating because of their muted taste compared to other chocolate buttons.
