I actually did choke on a Life Savers as a child. I was at my grammy's house and had the bright idea to lie down on my back with it in my mouth, despite my mother's warnings. Once she realized what was happening, she dialed 911, and two policemen came to coach me on how to handle it. All throughout, the hole in the middle did actually allow me to breathe while it was lodged in my throat. I ended up just sitting there until it dissolved enough to slide the rest of the way down my throat. My mom wouldn't let me eat hard candy for some time after the whole ordeal.
Mr. Crane's brilliant idea really helped me in that situation. It's my fault for not heeding the advice of my mother. If you have children, nieces, nephews, or grandchildren, advise them about having good posture and not lying down while eating hard candy.

I once had a piece of hard candy that was life savers like when I was a teenager and it got stuck in my throat for a while before I coughed it out. I never touch hard candy since. I'm too scared. There was a episode of 30 Rock where Liz or someone said living alone means you have to worry about choking to death on food because nobody will save you, and that's definitely my worry.

This reminds me of a time I was eating a lollipop as a kid, it was shaped like lips so it was pretty wide. I was eating it and playing on my computer, then it fell off the stick and into my throat
It was a weird feeling because I could feel my throat being blocked, but I was breathing and talking just fine (tho it did hurt a bit) I told my mom and she just laughed, so I sat there and waited for it to dissolve 💀

Personally, I find biting into a Granny Smith more unpleasant that drinking squirts of straight lime juice for vitamins.
The taste is just as sour but not as sweet, the fruit is hard as wood, and the fruit is awkwardly huge... big enough that you have to either bite away uselessly small nibbles or wrench away huge slabs which poke the roof of your mouth until mashed apart.

Plus, the Kinder Surprise Eggs DO violate a law, which when banned had been around for around 50 years, in the US that prohibits hidden inedible objects in food, as stated in the video. Chances are, the FDA spotted it before a suit had been made and the eggs were promptly banned due to the blatant lack of validity under US law.

You don't realize just how much lead is in our environment. The ban of leaded petroleum is only about 50 years old now and we're STILL dealing with the effect of burning something containing lead. It's in the water, it's in the soil, so of course it's in the food we eat. The candy had twice the legal limit, which means someone eating two of the other candy is going to get the same amount. They should have looked into what source they were using had the lead in it and done something about it, but if you think you aren't consuming lead regularly, you're fooling yourself.
