As a bourbon fan, I was blown away by this scotch. Had a sample bottle and I was instanly on the hunt. It is quite hard to find around my state and I fortunately found a few bottles while on vacation in Florida.
Finally got one. This is so delicious. I think I found a new scotch favorite. I'm kinda missing the smoke but love the flavors and viscosity. Definitely a scotch for bourbon lovers.
Love my Bunna 12. Great quality whisky and the Nautical Theme makes it an "11" hehehe BTW the 18 is amazing! I liked the old packaging better, but the red label does make it easier to see on the shelves.
I agree with you! Adding ex-bourbon cask to sherry cask aged whisky is actually making the whisky more rounded and more interesting. That's why I enjoy the Bunnahabhain 12 much more than the Macallan 12 sherry cask.
I would have never guessed they were all Islay whisky's. Bunnahabhain was the first of those 3 you mentioned I tried and it's not even close to the same. So smooth, such a great flavor and easy to drink. It reminded myself and a friend of mine more of a bourbon then a scotch, let alone a peety scotch.
The Bunnahabhain 12 was the first Islay whisky I really liked and it was my final distillery during my 3 day visit to the island so it holds a special place in my heart (or is it my liver?).
Great review Jason. I'm going to buy a bottle tomorrow. Ralfy rated the current version an 88 which is high for him. The Moine versions buy the way are the higher peated offerings.....Cheers!
Hi Jason, good to see you expanding in the malt world. Bunnahabhain 12 is a great bang for buck whisky and probably a base model of Bunnahabhain without peat. They do peated stuff too and that's a different story. Good review. WT
Jason, this was a nice review of the Bunnahabhain 12. I am an admitted Peathead with Ardbeg and Laphroaig being my 2 favorite Single Malt brands. But the very lightly peated Bunna 12 has become one of my top 3 go to Islay daily drams along with the Ardbeg 10 and Laphroaig 10. I like balanced flavor of the Bunna 12 and the 46.3% ABV. Burn Stewart/The Distell Group is really cranking out some good Scotch at this time with Bunnahabhain, Deanston, Tobermory and Ledaig. The Tobermory 10 and Ledaig 10 are also now at 46.3% ABV like the Bunna 12 and Deanston 12. I was at the Bunnahabhain Distillery last month while on Islay and tasted several of their different expressions. Thanks and Cheers ! 🥃👍😋
Thanks Duane! This Bunna 12 is easily one of the top 3 scotches I have tried this year. Amazing stuff. Deanston I reviewed before this one and loved it as well. If this is the type of scotch that Burn Stewart/Distell are cranking out I need to find the Tobermory and Leidag. Cheers and thanks for watching! I love Ardbeg 10 as well! I became a peat enthusiast rather quickly.
Nice review. Seeing as you like this whisky, keep an eye out for Kilchoman (especially the Loch Gorm expression) which also offers a lower peat taste profile from Islay.
Thanks Frank. I've gotten alot of recommendations for Kilchoman. Unfortunately there isn't alot in Ohio but if I see it I will grab it. Cheers and thanks for watching!
great job as usual Jason, Bunnahabhain is my fav islay distillery...so i love this 12 year old and always have it in the cabinet....the 18 is also awesome....Remember...The Pleasure is in the Sharing...
Love this one also. Mine is the older box, but I’ll definitely be grabbing a new bottle when we see these “small batch” tubes wit( the red markings show up on shelves.
One of my favorite whiskys of the year so rich and balanced. I have the older style bottle and I think I like that one more than the current one. Lets hope the juice inside remains the same quality.
I haven't been able to find it in the Columbus area yet but you should try and find some Bruichladdich next for scotch review, the other unpeated Islay!
Update - I have sipped this bottle down past the shoulders over the last 10 months. Sipping again tonight this Bunna 12 is climbing the ranks towards one of my favorites. It is also good to go back and watch your video while I revisit this Scotch.
Casks and NCF are absolutely important but so are the stills. You had a great picture of how fat their stills are. Compare them to the tall skinny Glenmorangie stills. That also contributes to how syrupy and heavy the spirit is. I love looking up pictures of stills (in lieu of distillery visits).

Very informative and well done. I really like the history and detail that you include. Thanks for sharing, Sir! Cheers!
Thanks Michael. I love the history aspect of whiskey. Cheers!
I just purchased this bottle and had a dram last night. It's my first Scotch I think it's a really good with a great finish. Thanks for the review

There is a hint of smoke in this one, of course nothing like Ardbeg, or Laphoriag but certainly peat presence, beautiful stuff
One of my favorites, gets better as you empty the bottle. Thanks for the review Jason.
Definitely getting better over time. Delicious dram. Cheers!
So true
Great review Jason! You describe the different flavours very well. Thanks for the Inspiration. And cheers, Mate.
You respect this Scotch, it really is wonderful stuff, good call!

I actually kind of like the old packaging as well. But I agree with the red sticking out. I definitely have to get the 18. Cheers!
@@TheMashandDrum the 18 is phenomenal! My best scotch to date... tho i have the Dalmore King on deck...
Great overview! And a fantastic dram that Bunna 12 is, great value. Now get on to the stellar 18 YO! Cheers J
It really is. I can't wait to try the other expressions! Cheers!
I love when whisky takes you places. Ardbeg 10 brought back a memory of my Grandma too ❤️
Absolutely. My grandmas cooking is a heavy influence on alot of notes I pick up. Cheers.
Yes, aromas and flavours can do that very powerfully.

Can’t wait to crack it.
Agreed. My favourite single malts use both ex-bourbon and sherry casks for maturation.
Glad to see you enjoying and expanding in the Whisky world!
Thanks Daniel. Me too! Absolutely loved this dram. Now to find the 18. Cheers.
The “bh” at the end is a “va” sound, not a hard b sound. Nice review, this is a good drink.
Did not know that. Thanks Ted! Appreciate the info. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
I bought one yesterday. It's an absolutely delicious whiskey. Well balanced, flavorful and just great. A

Fantastic review of a fantastic dram! I consider it one of Scotland's classics. Cheers Jason!

Got a bottle on the way,, can’t wait 🤸🤸.. Thanks Jason 🤝🤝

Thanks. I need to find more Bunnahabhain. I want to try it all. Was very impressed with the amount of flavor in this one for a 12 year. Cheers.

Ridiculously good dram. Cheers.
Another one thats been on my list !..great review bud !
Its awesome! Thanks for watching!
Just picked up this bottle... cause i didn't want to drink up my 18year Bunnahabhain 😂
Love this one also. Mine is the older box, but I’ll definitely be grabbing a new bottle when we see these “small batch” tubes wit( the red markings show up on shelves.
I absolutely love this stuff and now have to find more! LOL. Cheers!
The Mash and Drum I picked up Tioteach a Dha, their Peated version from the core range. Very different, and delicious also! Grey tube for that one.
@@dylannorthrup5439 I have seen that one but wasn't into bunnahaiban yet. Next time I see it I'm grabbing it. Also hunting for the 18. Cheers.
great review. it's 90 dollars in Ontario....tempting but a bit pricey.
🍻
great review. it sounds awesome.. I'm going to buy one today. i trust your opinion.

Was wondering that myself. Roy mentioned the juice may be a bit different. Either way this was pretty delicious.
@@TheMashandDrum Every batch is going to be a bit different, honestly, whether or not the packaging changes.
Overall, excellent dram!

Yup. I have a bottle. Definitely on the list! I had to go to Kentucky to get the Bunna but we'll worth it. Cheers.
I turn 21 today and don’t know what to drink any recommendations I typically enjoy congac, whiskey darker drinks
Nice aged Armagnac
Awesome review buddy....I knew you would like this one
You called it. It was awesome.
Damn it, now I have to go buy another whisky.
Sorry Moose. It's worth it though!! Cheers.

What up Man. I like your channel. Great review btw. I just subbed to your channel. Cheers and Happy Friday!
Thanks Whiskey dude. Appreciate it! Happy Friday! Cheers!
60 bucks? I bought one yesterday for 45 euros. And that is in Amsterdam and we pay a lot of tax here!
Is the Deanston also zero to little peat?
Yes
