Erumeli Dharmasastha Temple History in Tamil|எருமேலி தர்ம சாஸ்தா கோவில்|Erumeli Ayyappan Temple

In this post we are learn about the erumeli dharma Sastha temple. Erumeli is in Kottayam district of Kerala state. It is considered as the gateway to Sabarimala.
This place was called Erumaikolli because Ayyappan killed the buffalo-headed Mahishi, and later came to be known as 'Erumeli'.
Here Ayyappan is shown in Thirukolam, carrying a bow and arrow in his hands.
The temple of Erumeli Dharmashastha is the source of Vishuthi Chakra among the physical chakras.
Sages and Devas appealed to Ayyappan, who went to the jungle with bow and arrow to bring tiger milk, telling them of the sufferings they were going through because of Mahishi.
Hearing this, Ayyappan killed Mahishi and relieved the grief of the gods. Swami Ayyappan, who is sitting here as a Dharmasas, is blessed in Kolam with a bow and arrow in his hand because he came with a bow and arrow to kill Mahishi.
There are two temples in Erumeli town. These temples are called Vallyambalam and Kochambalam. Ambalam means temple in Malayalam. Both these temples are located within approximately 0.5 km. The famous Erumeli Pettathullal ritual during Sabarimala Yatra begins near Valliyambalam and Kochambalam.
When Manikandan, who had killed Mahishi, danced on her body, the gods and goddesses pretended to express their joy.
It is said to be the place where dancing took place. To commemorate this event, devotees still perform a dance known as Pettitullal in Erumeli. Then
Swamimars dance with various colored powders on their bodies.
Erumeli is located at a distance of 133 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram. Erumeli is situated on the banks of Manimala River, about 50 kilometers from Kottayam city.

எருமேலி கேரள மாநிலத்தின் கோட்டயம் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ளது. இது சபரிமலையின் நுழைவுவாயிலாக கருதப்படுகிறது.
எருமைத் தலையைக் கொண்ட மகிஷியை, ஐயப்பன் வதம் செய்த காரணத்தால் எருமைக்கொல்லி என அழைக்கப்பட்ட இந்த இடம், நாளடைவில் ‘எருமேலி’ என மருவியது.
இங்கே ஐயப்பன் தனது திருக்கரங்களில் வில், அம்பு ஏந்தி வேட்டைக்கு செல்லும் திருக்கோலத்தில் காட்சி தருகிறார்.
எருமேலி தருமசாஸ்தாவின் ஆலயம் உடல் சக்கரங்களில் விசுத்தி சக்கரத்திற்கு ஆதாரமாக இருக்கிறது.
புலிப்பால் கொண்டு வருவதற்காக காட்டுக்கு வில், அம்புடன் புறப்பட்ட ஐயப்பனிடம் முனிவர்களும், தேவர்களும் மஹிஷியால் தாங்கள் அனுபவித்து வரும் துன்பங்களை சொல்லி முறையிட்டனர்.
இதைகேட்ட ஐயப்பன் மஹிஷியை வதம் செய்து, தேவர்களின் துயரை போக்கியருளினார். மஹிஷியை வதம் செய்ய வில், அம்புடன் வந்த காரணத்தால் இங்கு தர்மசாஸ்வாக வீற்றிருக்கும் சுவாமி ஐயப்பன் கையில் வில், அம்பு ஏந்திய கோலத்திலேயே அருள்பாலிக்கிறார்.
எருமேலி நகரில் இரண்டு கோவில்கள் உள்ளன. இந்த கோவில்கள் வல்லியம்பலம் மற்றும் கொச்சம்பலம் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது . அம்பலம் என்பது மலையாலத்தில் கோவிலை குறிக்கும். இந்த இரண்டு கோவில்களும் ஏறக்குரைந 0.5 கி.மீ க்குள் அமைந்துள்ளன. சபரிமலை யாத்திரையின் போது புகழ்பெற்ற எருமெலி பேட்டத்துள்ளல் சடங்கானது வல்லியம்பலம் மற்றும் கொச்சம்பலம் அருகே தான் துவங்குகிறது.
மகிஷியை வதம் செய்த மணிகண்டன், அவளது உடல் மீது நர்த்தனம் ஆடிய போது, பூதகணங களும், தேவர்களும் தங்களது மகிழ்ச்சியை வெளிபடுத்த வேடமிட்டு நடனமாடிய இடமாக இது கூறப்படுகிறது. இந்த நிகழ்வை நினைவுகூறவே பக்தர்கள் இன்றளவும் எருமேலியில் பேட்டைதுள்ளல் எனப்படும் நடனம் ஆடுகின்றனர். அப்பொழுது சுவாமிமார்கள் தங்களது உடலில் பல விதமான வண்ணப் பொடிகளைப் பூசிக் கொண்டு நடனம் ஆடுவர்.
எருமேலி திருவனந்தபுரத்திலிருந்து 133 கிலோமீட்டர் தொலைவில் அமைந்திருக்கிறது. கோட்டயம் நகரிலிருந்து சுமார் 50 கிலோமீட்டர் தொலைவில் மணிமாலா ஆற்றின் கரையில் எருமேலி அமைந்துள்ளது.
