There's this fanfic i read where viola and Olivia ended up together, with Olivia being disowned by her parents and the Hastings accepted her, her and Viola lived together on Viola's apartment, and Olivia said at the final chapter that she knows Viola already has bought a ring but she's going to propose first
In lots of the fanfiction I've read. Olivia tries to be with Sebastian and friends with Viola at the same time. It ends in disaster, only to be remedied by emotional confessions. I also kind of like the idea of Viola just keeping some of the mannerisms she learned when being Sebastian.
This movie is a classic, could've easily been queer, if it wasn't 2006. This is my friends favorite movie, we quote it constantly. We did a drinking game once... Every time my best friend quoted it, we had to do a shot... I went through a six pack.
My bi ass was so confused by this movie 😂 I didn't know if I was more attracted to Duke or Viola or Olivia or Viola as Sebastian 🤣. And I couldn't figure out which relationship I was really rooting for 😂 Also, it's "based" on Shakespeare, and he pretty much always played with gender roles and queerness whenever possible
I forgot I met her in the 90s! Nickelodeon took over my school. She was a fuckin dork then too. She LEANS hard into it in this movie in a way that works for the vibe and time. This movie is so subtext gay but it's Shakespeare and a LOT of his shit was so gay so it makes sense. You're right they had to work so hard to ungay it. But the David Cross character is such a "queer ally school counselor" trope!
I saw something that was like the reason duke got so mad when he found out the truth is because he started questioning his sexuality and started falling for viola as Sebastian
Love this video Alex! Really needed it in my life! I've read a Supercorp fanfic once with Kara as Viola and Lena as Olivia Somehow can't post the link but it's called She's the Man by BonzaiBri on AO3
Dangggg omg so im not the only one that thought that Viola and Olivia should have been together, this would be like the PERFECT queer fun light little movie nowadays, too bad it was 2006 and they tried to make it straight
nice vid, well in Vi words " and i though powder could get obssed" I mean I though i was overanalysing the "13th warrior" and then I find myself am out-Caitlyed. 🙂
I love this movie but it drives me insane that the only thing Olivia liked about real sebastian was his lyrics everything else was all Viola and they tried so hard to make it straight to fit the twelfth night story
"She's the Man" is based on Shakespeare's play "Twelfth Night." The sexually ambiguous set-up and the contrived comp-het conclusion are directly taken from Shakespeare's original. Not to sound pretentious, but I'm a little surprised that there's no mention at all of Shakespeare and "Twelfth Night" in this video. In comedies, climaxes in front of crowds are a lot more satisfying to the audience than climaxes hidden away in secret (such as in a principle's office).
Oh my god, so much potential with this story, you could follow it to a tee but have Viola developing her feelings for Olivia instead of Duke. Or you could change the story completely, throw in some of my fave tropes like fake dating, or friends to lovers. So much potential! DM me on Twitter or Tumblr is you wanna chat more about it.
Episode 9 of Gap is out and you guys are watching this.. what’s wrong with you 😆 I can’t believe it.. sorry, I haven’t watched this movie.. is it any good?
Absolutely agree! Viola and Olivia really should have been canon 😊
I saw the film for the first time when I was 9, at that time I didn't even know that two women could be together and I still shipped them

They should have been Canon she she didn't fall for his looks she fall for who she was
Thank the gods for fanfiction, where everything's made right, over and over and over again in every possible trope and cliché. Amen.

I've read a Supercorp fanfic once with Kara as Viola and Lena as Olivia
Somehow can't post the link but it's called She's the Man by BonzaiBri on AO3
The title resonates with me a lot. The couple that should’ve been 😞
This is one of my favorite movies and I absolutely agree that Olivia & Viola should have been canon 😍
It’s based on a Shakespeare play “Twelfth night” so I think they forced it to make it fit that ending.
I also love this movie, iconic, if it release these days, they might be a canon 😆
Unless it would have been made by a few set of directors i dont think either the courage or the skill to do it well is that abundant.
My question is did anyone find that fanfic, I kinda need it in my life! I would love an update😅
Same
If it was made today we will be able to see (Viola) Sebastian and Olivia kiss. 😂
If there are any good fics out there pleeeeaaaase put the link here. Need 😭
