my iron security door frame is taller than the opening. i have a 32 inch exterior door and want to install the security door also. does the security door metal frame need to be cut down to fit?
This door is a surface mount door that would need to be installed on the outside of the existing trim. The doors mounting holes would not work if it was installed on the inside of the door jamb. We do have recessed mount doors and custom sized doors available at the Home Depot if you are looking for something that will mount inside the jamb or will fit a wider entryway.
This video is very helpful as the written directions are awful. But what's the best way to center this door height wise, taking into account the top and bottom bars? You covered width but not height.
Yes? Well after installing it see that you have no choice but to put the top bar along the top of the door opening due to the way it mounts. Thanks to this video it did make it SO much easier to install.
You want the bug sweep 1/4" from the ground, that's your working measurement. So you may have to add trim to the top to mount the top bar. At least as far as I understand it.
The door is available in multiple screen options including perforated metal. And, subject to local codes, a double deadbolt may be used to maintain security when glass or insect screen inserts are used.

This security door can not be cut to fit. You would need a door that is sized at 32 in. for your opening.
could you install the hing on the inside of the door jam? my door is wide and if i put it on the inside the door would fit better
