Valentine's Day is June 12th here in Brazil, and by the way, I don't have someone "special" in my life (except my family, which is enough). Now I will plan on just listening to music or making music as usual (along with doing school homework 😅)...
this channel is one of my safe places. Each time i see a video of yours i see the joy on your face and your excitement and it makes me smile. So thanks
So wonderful to hear you attempt pieces that are in my (our?) range. I learn so much by listening to your challenges! Love how you make the voice sing, it’s among the hardest to do beautifully! Happy Valentine! (PS, it’s just me and the piano on Valentine today ;)
We spent a semester studying this piece in depth in theory III! Schumann’s word painting in this is soooo cool and you did amazing bringing it out without the vocalist!
That is such a beautiful piece. It's amazing how well you played it after just one hour of practice - wow! I have the music, practiced it and practiced it, and no where near listenable. 😩 Seeing the music brought back my recollection of how hard it is. But you have inspired me! 😄 I am going to practice that piece yet again because it is so beautiful! Thank you Annique, Happy Valentine's Day! ❤❤
Could you do this challenge with 'Près du Chateau' (Před hradem) by Smetana? I think his piano compositions are soooo underrated given how beautiful they are. Would love to see them in the spotlight :)
I've heard this piece from Tiffany Poon for the first time and I cried. That was the only time i ever cried over a classical piece. Idk why but this piece is so beautifully touching.
Nice one!! Two whole mistake-free, and very expressive pages at the end!! I learned a little about this piece watching you work through it. Those inner voices, climbing and descending are kind of like Jack and Jill (who for the sake of this analogy we'll assume aren't siblings) climbing and descending love's hill together through the ups and downs of life, then the melody comes along and complicates things, as does Brahms apparently. Every time the accompaniment goes from a IV to a ii half dim, there's that little tug of sadness which I guess Schumann shares with us. Really well done, especially for only an hour's working on it. Happy Valentine's Day Annique!!
I love how embarrassed you are when you’re doing a mind-blowingly brilliant first sight reading lol. I hope one day I can sight read even at 1/10 your skill!
Just relearned this myself. Probably the most challenging piece I’ve played. Let’s just say it took a lot longer than an hour to learn🤣. You are so down to earth and inspiring; a real pleasure to watch♥️
Hey Annique! Found your channel recently and love your videos. I really enjoy the challenges and the tips that you give for practicing. A piece I found recently is Rondo in C, Op. 51 No. 1 by Beethoven. It would be fun to see as a challenge video.
Unfassbar gut!
you should try Liebeslied, I know it will be hard because it like jazz but in the mind of a classical composer and I'm talking about the rachmaninoff arrangement. Best of lucks to you.
So I don't know if you've already learned this piece, but if you haven't, next valentine's day or something, please do Liebestraum no. 3 by Liszt (I suspect you've learned it in the past but I'm not really sure).
This piece remember me the Nelson Freire when martha Argerich ask if he Could play this for her and even that he never had played before , he shows for us the unique sight riding and a perfect technique. Rest in piece Nelson 🙏
I was wondering if I could start working on this piece as I find it quite difficult and above my level. But given the difference in results between this and your Un Sospiro attempt, which I am currently overcoming, I now think I should be able to
A question which might be too basic since I am self taught. The left hand has two voicings. for example the first bar, there is a dotted whole note. I noticed you did not hold it down though. Is it because of the use of the pedal? In situations like these where the hand clearly needs to move a lot to play the other voicing, I'm assuming it's better to just use the pedal for the sustained notes. Can we also do this if the other voicing is playable comfortably while holding down the "longer" voice?
Liszt who knew the music of Schumann and Chopin would have been so interesting, to compare them. I feel that Schumann's music is special and nothing Chopin wrote could be like that and vice versa. They're my favorite composers beside JS Bach.
Be brave and try to learn ornstein wild man dance - it's crazy, fresh, mind blowing and looks very hard! I am a professional pianist myself, and don't think that i can play it, unless i will take it as a challenge for many months.. and even then i really don't know what will come out of it
Hi Annique. I’ve been playing piano for a year, and just want to master it. My question is how do you play your hands so fastttt huhuhuhuh. I want to play Chopin’s pieces but it’s just so hard for me..
Your hand can only play as fast as your mind knows the notes and sees the hand playing them at the right position on the keyboard. Initially that process must be conscious then it transfers to muscle memory.
Years ago my organ teacher told us that by this time, Robert Schumann had become an invalid. Clara was therefore his caretaker; she was indeed his world. This is what opened the door for Brahms to live with them and to take Clara for a lover. Brahms had a messed-up childhood, but that's a different story.
From what I know, Brahms never had any relationship with Clara other than friendship and taking her as a muse, sort of. However, it's easy to assume he was somehow in love with her.
Lots of Love to everyone! What are you going to do on this special day in the year? Anyone special in your life? Tell me in the comments!

The truth now that I have checked I was wrong on Valentine's Day tomorrow and Family Day was before me
You are such a delight to watch Annique, God bless you and have a lovely Valentines Day with your chosen one :)
These sight reading skills are extraterrestrian- absolutely crazy… love the little hearts

This is probably my favourite piece by Liszt. Schumann wrote the beautiful melody, but I feel Liszt’s paraphrase that follows is even more charming.
We spent a semester studying this piece in depth in theory III! Schumann’s word painting in this is soooo cool and you did amazing bringing it out without the vocalist!

I love how her sight reading is basically my month’s progress❤️😂
Happy Valentine’s Day! What a special treat! I am working on Debussy for my wife this weekend. R Schumann would totally be proud of you! 😄
Wow...really nice man👍

Wow how amazingly well did you do! This was my lockdown project and it took me a lot longer to master it! Bravo!
Everything you play turns more beautiful than it is. Thanks from Spain

Liszt is my absolute fav
Thank you so much Annique for doing this ❤
Such a beautiful piece. Happy Valentine Day 💕
I've heard this piece from Tiffany Poon for the first time and I cried. That was the only time i ever cried over a classical piece.
Idk why but this piece is so beautifully touching.
You are one of my biggest inspirations! Thank you so much :)

I feel like this is like the perfect song/gift Schumann ever wrote for Clara. So much love and anguish.
Liszt’s version is a masterpiece but the original with the lyrics is also beautiful
I love how embarrassed you are when you’re doing a mind-blowingly brilliant first sight reading lol. I hope one day I can sight read even at 1/10 your skill!
She actually said somewhere in a video that she was not good at sight reading, maybe it was an older video or she is just too modest.
Just relearned this myself. Probably the most challenging piece I’ve played. Let’s just say it took a lot longer than an hour to learn🤣. You are so down to earth and inspiring; a real pleasure to watch♥️
That’s amazing , love your videos 🥳🥰
Want to hear you playing the whole piece! Your interpretation sounds awesome
Very nice, I always love these kind of videos because of all the insight
Thank you for introducing us to such wonderful repertoire!
The learning and imperfection part is just as enjoyable as the final perfected product to me from watching you play 😊
Happy Valentine's Day! I wanted to ask for a video on polyrythms because it would really help with learning Trois nevelles Etudes
thank you a lot for your comtent, everey time your videos go online you make my day
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SCHUMANN PIECE OMG IM SO EXCITED TO WATCH THIS

I love this piece so much!
Yes new Video! Beautiful peace.
Such beautiful lyrics! Love the iv minor chord on Schmerz, so spine-tingling!
You weren't tempted to sing the song while you played, then?! ;-)
Such a talented beautiful funny girl you’re valentine is so lucky ❤️👍🥁🇬🇧❤️

Hope you had great semester at Warsaw. Have a great Valentine's day with friends and boyfriends. Very nice song you choose.

Wonderful!
You read music like I read math. (And probably the other way round too...)
Interesting and suddenly much more relatable.
Happy moods you create for such a day. 😍
oh wow im learning this for my viola exam and i have yet to hear the piano accompaniment...wow, it all makes so much more sense
I love these series !! Can you do some alkan maybe? I am curious about how a proffesional handle his compositions =)
As a 12 yo learning this piece rn, you made more progress sightreading this in 1 hour than me after a week 😭
you should try Liebeslied, I know it will be hard because it like jazz but in the mind of a classical composer and I'm talking about the rachmaninoff arrangement. Best of lucks to you.

Can you do this challenge with Liebestraum by Franz Liszt next?
The breathing part was interesting; have you tried matching the breathing that the singer (in the original) would use?
Beautiful 🥰
This melody reminds me of the song ‘o holy night’, which is a love piece too 💖💗💝
yo im comming tho that piano salon very often XD you gotta come again
It would be amazing if you play “Dream of Love”, (Liebestraum no.3) from Liszt. 😆
Great!
I was wondering if I could start working on this piece as I find it quite difficult and above my level. But given the difference in results between this and your Un Sospiro attempt, which I am currently overcoming, I now think I should be able to
Love this challenge, very romantic. Good choice 🙂
Buon san Valentino!!!
Just beautiful how you played it :O

Let's go ahead, girl!
In the next video play Appassionata 3rd movement or Hammerklavier 1st movement, please 🥺

Be brave and try to learn
ornstein wild man dance - it's crazy, fresh, mind blowing and looks very hard! I am a professional pianist myself, and don't think that i can play it, unless i will take it as a challenge for many months.. and even then i really don't know what will come out of it
Can you do the Tchaikovsky piano concerto no 1 3rd movement with your sister with two piano
Hi Annique. I’ve been playing piano for a year, and just want to master it. My question is how do you play your hands so fastttt huhuhuhuh. I want to play Chopin’s pieces but it’s just so hard for me..
Three tips:
1. Practice
2. Practice
3. Practice
Your hand can only play as fast as your mind knows the notes and sees the hand playing them at the right position on the keyboard. Initially that process must be conscious then it transfers to muscle memory.
How long have you been practicing this beautiful instrument?

This is what opened the door for Brahms to live with them and to take Clara for a lover. Brahms had a messed-up childhood, but that's a different story.
interesting but i always take stories with a grain of salt, people tend to project their assumption for realities.
From what I know, Brahms never had any relationship with Clara other than friendship and taking her as a muse, sort of. However, it's easy to assume he was somehow in love with her.
5:38 looks like someone forgot the f haha
You need a keytar in your life. Modern Talking would agree! 😎
I feel well when playing romantic pieces.
