Thank you for your input Chris. Seeing how this was a long term shelter and not an emergency situation, I chose to do it this way. In an emergency situation, shelter would have been top priority. Second, it was a lot easier to video the construction of the bed without the shelter surrounding it.

Really, you want to build a bed before some kind of shelter or a wind break.
