Bori Bunder, located in Mumbai was the first railway station in India. India's first passenger train ran from Bori Bunder to Thane in 1853. It was built by the Great Indian Peninsular Railway. This station was rebuilt as Victoria Terminus later in 1888, named after Queen Victoria

Life was simple, air was clean, there was minimal traffic. But I still love the city- for its vigour and the cooperation of people for each other during calamities. Around 150 years ago when this city had a tiny fraction of present population, the British have designed extremely wide roads, neatly designed buildings which can handle today's traffic and population. What a foresight!. In contrast, Bangalore which grew during the last 30 to 40 years has become a nightmare. Wonder how India would look like if British have continued to rule till date

Can someones name some of the designers involved in designing this city?
European colonisers are highly underappreciated... Villainised more but as an Indian their legacy in terms of non-personal, non-geo political terms purely in terms of administation, arhcitecture, planning and all other civilisational aspects is deeply under appreciated. Mainly because they never built these for the benefits of anyone but for the empire's self intetest. But the underlying principles of their expertise in each discipline was highly refined so much so that there is beauty ♥️ in it, that's universally experienced... Sadly us as natives never understood or picked up their level of excellence or expertise after they left. All we are doing now is hanging onto the skeletons left by The European coloniser which is crumbling under our weight, we have failed to appreciate the beauty of Order, Harmony, Balance, Symmetry both in terms of Physical space and in the nonphysical sense of administration of world in the objective and the subjective spaces. There is no beauty, no charm to the modern day life where majority live a life of lessers charm and beauty.. Rather filled with chaos, clumsy, crude and the cacophonic existence as a society where our Best of expertise and excellence is rather half hearted and mediocre at best, of poor understanding of the principles underlying the ideas behind be it building life experience around us.

It used to be a city of dreams, but now it's just a city of despair, skyrocketing price with little to nothing to offer in terms of quality, and roads are choked. It's just a ghetto!
