It's great when people in your life slowly get into our hobbies not because they are forced but because they see how fantabulous whatever your interests are.
Didn't know what friendly gill flare is until today. My betta occasionally flares at me when she's hungry. She didn't used to do this, but now she does it every now and then since I feed her after she does it. I guess she trained me. -_-
I recently got ember tetras for the first time. They're so much more fun than I expected! Their interaction with each other is fun to watch, plus they come running when they see me. It's like being greeted by teeny, weeny puppies. LOL I highly recommend them as a "try them" for anyone looking for nano fish.
You have had a whole saga with Sonic 🙏 I have been a fish keeper before but what brought me back into the hobby and led me to finding you and so many great creators on TH-cam was being gifted a betta fish ♥️ I am very thankful for both of our betta fish because it has brought me into a new understanding of aquariums, planted tanks and introduced me to you and so many great people and different fish I never knew about. Our betta fish are special, they have so much personality and are truly the most beautiful fish there are. This is one of the reasons it really means a lot to make sure they're in the right hands. Irene you always bring us the best information that we can trust!! Plus being part of Aquarium Co-op we already know that you are bringing us the best of the best! I personally love you bunches and you are actually one of my idols that I wish someday I can create content like you have that has helped me along the way for maybe the next generation of fish keepers coming up 🙏 Thank you always for sharing.. I hope you are having a great holiday season!! Much love your friend, Mary Paige🙏🌿🐟🌿💚
I always love reading your warm and thoughtful comments! So glad I can be an inspiration to you and I'll definitely have to check out some of your videos. 🤗
I did the same thing with a betta I knew just wasn’t for me! Well, it wasn’t a cross country trip, but it was from Los Angeles to the SF Bay Area. Driving. I gave him to my bestie, and he loved living in her ten gallon for the rest of his days. Sometimes you just know, yknow?
I’ve been waiting for this story forever since you posted about it in the members only community! It’s a great video, my favorite part was when Sonic angrily swam away from the camera one last time 😂
How about a nice sized school of chili rasboras? I love their color. I hope Gil is enjoying his new home. Sometimes rehoming is the best thing we can do for our fish.
Ember Tetra! I got some because the store was out of black neons (my usual go-to) and I adore them. They're really inquisitive and like the Betta they live with they'll come up to the top of the tank and ask for food when it's breakfast time. They're not shy at all and like following me around the tank when i'm cleaning or taking pictures
"Some random neon tetra that doesn't have a name" I feel sad now for my nameless neon tetras, ember tetras, amano shrimp and siamese algae eaters. Not to mention my 3 assassain snails. I feel like they've been depersonalized. (Insert pouty face here) LOL
As others suggested, some killifish would look great in the tank, or perhaps a pair of scarlet badis! Also, tell your friend about the benefits of floating plants! She doesn't need to introduce stem plants in the tank but some floaters can help her with mainteinance
So glad that Gill has a nice new home! I know it’s hard to let go of our “water babies?” 🤣 but if its for their health that makes it easier! And now you have an empty tank ready for new ideas! Also, Irene your hair looks absolutely fabulous!
I have breed bettas as a hobby and kept some of them and what i find is even if the parents are aggressive if the fry is placed with other fish and shrimp when they are a respectable size they will get along perfectly with them(but make sure to put all the fish in then the betta at last)
I’ve been slowly exploring the fish side of TH-cam and it’s bringing back so many memories. I won a goldfish that I named Sunlight at a local fair and I asked my dad if we could keep him in an old 30 gallon tank we had left over from some gerbils that passed away some time before. Next thing you know we had a wonderful little tank with a silver dollar fish named Big Head, Erin the chain loach, Gary the snail and of course, Sunlight and his girlfriend Ginny (another common goldfish!). I still feel really sad that I didn’t understand that it was important to quarantine my fish at the time because eventually my entire tank succumbed to ich after about four years when I introduced some guppies that must have been ill. It was a great activity for me and my dad to work on together and I hope that maybe one day I can pick it back up.
My Betta lives in a 10 gal with bladder snails. He eats the snails. The top of the tank is covered in duckweed. I almost never have to do water changes.
Hi Irene. I put a dwarf blue gourami in my 20 gal tank as you had suggested in a prior video. Bubba is so cool and beautiful. He gets along with the neon tetras, shrimp and nerite snail friends very well.
Girl you do wonderful with Betta fish and I honestly think that you could get another young Betta, and put it into a community tank and you can actually teach them to do tricks so that they get plenty of play and up time and they will be good with other fish in a community tank Girl!!
I love nano fish. I have Ember Tetras, Least Killifish, Emerald Rasbora, White Clouds, Pygmy Corys and Celestial Pearl Danios. Each species in its own aquarium.
My mustard gas is Gill too! But he is a camera hog. He's living happily with a few mystery snails and I just ordered a larger long tank and think I want to try a few kuhli loaches with him.
This is very ironic as I currently have the same type of blue and gold betta in a 5 g by himself. He’s very friendly, I guess, for a fish... anyways very pretty fish great content
Well I think my my betta loves me because she always come to me always I when come near her tank. She can also do high jumps, follow a stick or finger catch live shrimp and other water creatures like daphnia and worms (all are wild caught but it's fine). She loves floting plants so it will be ok to give her lots of plants. And I breed goldfishes and my age is 10!
They aren't showstoppers like Gill but pygmy corys are fun to watch and as peaceful as you can get. I had them in my 7.5g bowl for a time and they are zoomers.
Just got my new betta fish and was wondering If I need a heater for him since I live in a tropical country (Philippines to be exact) if I can get away without a filter then it would be awesome because getting something here in my country is an PAIN
You put him through the x-ray 🤣 I brought some Vienna Guppies from the Co-op via carry-on back to SoCal recently, so I hear you on the anxiety of the situation! For restocking the 5gal...I would go Rosy loaches, medaka, or a really nice strain of endlers...
The poor fishy went through the security x-ray machine! 😱 No aquarium light will be needed to see the poor thing, then... should glow nicely ☢️ (joking)
I'm experimenting with mosquito rasbora right now... Having lots of death during initial acclimatisation but then they turn into this hardy stuff you can put in any tank
any small schooling fish like tetras, danios, rasboras, poecilias are always fun. I just cant keep betta in a solitary, too depressing. I want one betta, though at the same time I don't. 😂
I have a beta fish and I cleaned his tank when I got back from my dads because my mom didn’t have time to so it was quite dirty not gonna lie and he hasn’t been eating since I cleaned his tank and when I walk towards his tank to check if has eaten he sometimes freaks out and I’m very concerned. Does anyone know what I should do?
Dario sp. Myanmar (AKA Red Tiger Badis) Like a Scarlet Badis but even less mainstream (sips IPA while twisting waxed moustache). Mine have even bred in the 5g I have them in. Only twist is they refuse prepared foods.
Hey Irene i know this is off topic but idk how to pm you. Cz im wondering about my female betta fish she’s got a bunch of white hairlike stuff all over her body and im so worried about it
I just got a school of ember tetras and I love them. Because they are so small you can have a bigger school. Also, I did not know that bettas could become obese? Is that different than bloating?
I know your Sonic will be happy in his new life, or you would not have re-homed him. I know you like color, so there is the Scarlett Badis...tiny with a huge spirit! Or, a no heater option, the Least Killifish. They are a tiny and fun to watch live bearer. I have a colony 🥰 Soooo adorable!
*I already asked this in my previous Shorts video, but what should I put in Sonic's former home? It has to be safe for nerite snails and plants.*
Shrimp and dwarf rasboras?
Some fish/snails/shrimp that you've always wanted to try out
Maybe Elassoma, croaking gouramis, or crocodile toothpick fish?
NEW BETTA
How about Chili Rasboras, they will look good in a planted tank...
Mine does it to me once in a while to my finger
Clown killifish would be great. They are a lot of fun to watch and have beautiful colors. Thanks for sharing your story.
Another vote for clown killis! Maybe even a breeding project?
Clown killi for the win
+1. Got those recently, and they are beautiful little fishes!
I just found your videos, my heart is overflowing with Joy with the consideration and care you put in for your fish!! Thank you for being so kind!!
I’m sad to see Sonic/Gill go to a new home, and I’m sure it was a big decision for you. But I’m so glad that Gill is now happy with his privacy 😊
as far as fake plants go, that tank looks pretty nice! good selection i agree. I love to see the dedication to that little fish!!
I recently got ember tetras for the first time. They're so much more fun than I expected! Their interaction with each other is fun to watch, plus they come running when they see me. It's like being greeted by teeny, weeny puppies. LOL I highly recommend them as a "try them" for anyone looking for nano fish.
I think it was so nice to see the reality of this happening and the way you handled everything was so nice! Such a good video x

@@GirlTalksFish I definitely have a long way to go but I'm learning as I do 😁♥️🙏
If I was called a "Mustard Gas," Betta, I would be angry at the world as well! 😂🤣🤣😂
Lol, true! Not sure why the betta breeders picked that name.
Guppies, they're wonderful, cheeky & very friendly even to a camera lol
I did the same thing with a betta I knew just wasn’t for me! Well, it wasn’t a cross country trip, but it was from Los Angeles to the SF Bay Area. Driving. I gave him to my bestie, and he loved living in her ten gallon for the rest of his days. Sometimes you just know, yknow?

Center piece: sparkling gourami. Mates: panda corys and celestial pearl danios

Fantastic Video! It helps remove the stigma that comes with rehoming animals.
aww! you made an amazing choice we'll miss him so much 🥺
I recommend a shrimp only tank :)
Glad Gill is happy in his new home. How about Chili Raboras in your tank?
I'm glad he's happy
His new home is nice too.
00:11 am I the only one who heard "my toddler's son" ? 😳😂

Do you think he would eat a Nerite snail? I think they are larger??
@@user-mo4wt9gk9y I kept two nerite snails with my female Betta and she never harmed them. They have horns on their shells for protection
Chili rasbora
Ember Tetras are a great little nano fish.
Goodbye Sonic and enjoy your mnemoninity.
😂🤣😂
Hi Irene. I put a dwarf blue gourami in my 20 gal tank as you had suggested in a prior video. Bubba is so cool and beautiful. He gets along with the neon tetras, shrimp and nerite snail friends very well.
You're a good fish mama. 😸🖖
Once your nerites are big enough, you could do pea puffers possibly.
Girl you do wonderful with Betta fish and I honestly think that you could get another young Betta, and put it into a community tank and you can actually teach them to do tricks so that they get plenty of play and up time and they will be good with other fish in a community tank Girl!!
Golden Dwarf Barbs, Ember Tetras, Celestial Pearl Danios, Lamb chop Rasboras, Endlers are probably my top 5 peaceful nano fish.
Do you know any media filter that can keep my ph below 6.5
I was not sure where the story about Zelda and a siphon was gonna go until you said pool!! So relieved haha
i want to ask a question i got walstad tank in jar , are 7 red cherry shrimps in a 4 liter jar too overpopulated?
I love nano fish. I have Ember Tetras, Least Killifish, Emerald Rasbora, White Clouds, Pygmy Corys and Celestial Pearl Danios. Each species in its own aquarium.

Get some marble hatchetfish and some pristella tetras. Both are small and interesting. Keep the lid on though, or your hatchetfish will fly out.
Well I think my my betta loves me because she always come to me always I when come near her tank. That's awesome to hear! Thanks for watching my video. 🙂
@@GirlTalksFish thank yoh very much
What was the fish in the first frame you kept him with?
Getrudae rainbow, chilli rasbora
They aren't showstoppers like Gill but pygmy corys are fun to watch and as peaceful as you can get. I had them in my 7.5g bowl for a time and they are zoomers.
Ember tetras are amazing for nanotanks.
Our old Betta was the same. He'd instantly come to see you, but if you went near him with a phone or camera, he was off.
Make a series on doing a betta fish tank. It would be great to see
Just got my new betta fish and was wondering If I need a heater for him since I live in a tropical country (Philippines to be exact) if I can get away without a filter then it would be awesome because getting something here in my country is an PAIN
You put him through the x-ray 🤣 I brought some Vienna Guppies from the Co-op via carry-on back to SoCal recently, so I hear you on the anxiety of the situation! For restocking the 5gal...I would go Rosy loaches, medaka, or a really nice strain of endlers...
Hey Irene! I’m thinking about getting a beta and I just have one question….what is beta water!?! Is this something I need?
Omg your outfit is fantastic 🤩
The poor fishy went through the security x-ray machine! 😱
No aquarium light will be needed to see the poor thing, then... should glow nicely ☢️
(joking)
I'm experimenting with mosquito rasbora right now... Having lots of death during initial acclimatisation but then they turn into this hardy stuff you can put in any tank
LOL I love the X-ray - just have to check he isn't a drug mule!
😂
i've never seen a betta fish xray before! that's neat
any small schooling fish like tetras, danios, rasboras, poecilias are always fun. I just cant keep betta in a solitary, too depressing. I want one betta, though at the same time I don't. 😂
Least killifish are my recommendation. They are so small and cute.
Sparkling Gourami!!!
Glad to hear sonic got a new home! So crazy I also live in CO but all my family lives back in the northeast 😁
But where did you get the earrings?
Etsy! Love 'em cuz they're so light and comfortable too.
Omg finally this video
Try some Cardinal tetras. That is if your water is soft and 7ph at the max. They don’t like alkaline water at all. Unfortunately I can’t keep them.
i am sooo happy that your are doing betterrrrrrr get well soon
noooooooo dont send away sonic
Sparkling gourami!!
6:47 I have that big pink plant in my tank lol
Paradise fish is a great option
Love you're content ❤️🔥🔥
THE EARRINGS!!! WHERE DID YA GET THEM?? 😂😂
Hehe, Etsy 👍
Nice looking person 💙
Chili or pheniox rasboras! They are a lot of fun to watch
Time to get some Celestial Pearl Danios 🙌🏼
Maybe you can get forktail rainbowfish again. Pygmy sunfish are on my list to try.
Dario sp. Myanmar (AKA Red Tiger Badis)

Chili rasbora! I really want some lol.
Plzzzz bye some kuhli loach and cory cat fish for the aquarium
Sparkling gourami :)
How is Gill doing now?? :)
ember tetras, chili rasboras and clown killifish are all great nano fish
Pygmy sunfish or galaxy rasbora would be beautiful
We'll miss seeing him
I would highly recommend daisie ricefish to go with your snails
I know your Sonic will be happy in his new life, or you would not have re-homed him. I know you like color, so there is the Scarlett Badis...tiny with a huge spirit! Or, a no heater option, the Least Killifish. They are a tiny and fun to watch live bearer. I have a colony 🥰 Soooo adorable!
Pygmy cories or oto cats could be fun! Active and helpful with algae
Great video as always I love my betta you could get ✨sparkling ✨gourami fish they are amazing I have a pair in my community aquarium
You are such an amazing fish owner I love it. The fact you rehomed Sonic is amazing. You can clearly see that she does what better for her fish.
Pea puffer
Shrimp shrimp shrimp!!!!!
Guppies would do well with the snails
You should do shrimp or chill rasboras
Maybe some chili rasboras they are small n don't bother other fishes
Keep him anyway lol
He got an X-ray lol
