I had the same impression! He seems like a very likeable guy. I don't understand the haters. Of course, players like Morphy and Capablanca are true legends, but Magnus is also in his own regard. Maybe the last great player that learned by book.
I agree with Magnus. Out of all the young prodigies, Alizera is the most talented, but his mentality and emotions let him down. Alireza with the discipline and mentality of a Gukesh or Nodirbek would be a world-beater.
Maybe. It was the same for Vasyl Ivanchuk. People have all called him extremely talented, but in the end he decided what he decided and that his nerves weren't up to making himself more concrete. I believe the same for Alireza. Let him decide what he wants to do with chess in his life. What will be will be.
@@ClarkPotter That's way too late for mentorship in chess. Carlsen was probably 13 or 14 when Gary mentored him. I think at 19 he was already world no.1 and world championship at 21.
Wow Magnus really put that into perspective. I love Alireza because his style is wild and unorthodox. The chess world needs more like him to spice things up a bit.
As an iranian i must say, most people have no idea how much it messes up your whole life to be born and grow up under a dictatorship in iran and then immigrate
The problem with Alireza is that his mind controls him. Mind can be your best friend or worst enemy. Whatever you handover to the mind, it will latch onto it. And if you let it off the leash, it will drive you into depression. Gukesh controls his mind hence he's mentally solid.
Nah ... Gukesh is just better. In the future, Gukesh will spank Carlsen. Magnus will decide he wants a shot at him. He will get it, and then Gukesh will pull his pink panties down and turn his booty cheeks pink.
You there are many person with more talent than the famous one but they are not there because they lack determination and hard work. Same goes for alireza he has talent but can't become as great as magnus because he lacks determination and mentality of magnus somehow.
He is a killer, just not disciplined. He always attacks even when there is nothing in the position. You hardly see a draw when he plays, he either wins or loses

Magnus feels like a sympathetic older brother who understands his little brother but can't help but have expectations at the same time.

@anthonyschlott916 Ali at his best can go head to head with a solid Magnus, I don't see Ivan beating Magnus
Very true about Ivanchuk, when he’s at his best he’s amazing.
"He hasn't figured it out"
Maybe Magnus should do the Kasparov move to Alireza
A bit too late for that.
Kasparov didnt do anything to maggy

I feel Alireza is just looking at things other than chess. Give him time to figure it out.
Now armani reza😂
The way magnus talks about his crush he would surely return if his crush becomes wc .

Gukesh over gucci in classical atleast for now, but gucci is stronger in rapid and blitz
Gukesh > alireza ( because discipline)
Discipline can be nurtured. I believe Alireza will come back if he takes up his chess seriously. Talent can't be nurtured.
