    Just checked this fabulous park off our bucket list! It is everything and more. We didn’t find the towing too bad going up the mountain as that is the inside lane but the drive going down was some white knuckle but not the entire way. We had to make a trip out for groceries without the camper and returned by the route around Ringwold and you are absolutely correct NOT to attempt towing that way. It was a wonderful, peaceful and gorgeous stay on the West Rim. “I/we love RV life” too. 🇺🇸

      That’s great Donna. It’s such a nice campground. And fun things to do in Chattanooga too.

    Funny I don’t hear Joan....screaming🤣 I’m watching all your Ga, campgrounds to plan a trip, can’t thank you enough for all the details you include.

      So true. Unfortunately Joan can’t make these hikes. You’ll see along easier walks, especially the wine tours. Georgia has great state parks. We left Tugaloo State Park today. Beautiful spot.

      If you go to Georgia State Parks site, you can view sites and reserve the one you like.
      The Ga State Park site will send you to the reservation helper: www.reserveamerica.

    We just left the Cloudland Canyon Sate Park and yes this is a fantastic place and the funny thing is we parked our Fifthwheel on the identical campsite...lol. The west rim trail we hiked both ways and you can get to the bottem of the gorge from the west rim campground

    Great Video. If you ever get a chance to stay at Desoto State Park in Fort Payne, AL, you should. It is a very nice, clean park. Great bath houses. It is close to Little River Canyon and Mentone, AL. I think you will like it. It is one of our favorite spots to camp.

      Hi Tim. Wow! This is one of the nicest complements we've received. Thanks. We haven't. To date, we haven't sought any sponsors. We have been 100% self funded. Every product shown we purchase. Maybe if the right sponsor came along, we may consider, but we would be up front and notify the channel. We'll do our best to continue with the small amount of revenue generated by TH-cam and Amazon ads. Bottom line, we do this because we really do love RV life.

    Thanks for posting this. I am headed there soon and getting nervous about the climb. Have you been to Amicolola? Which was worse? My Rig and trailer almost came to a complete stop going up the 25% grade there. Were you more worried about the turns than the grade? Thanks for any advice.

      Hi William, we came to the campground from Trenton, GA. I would not want to try the route south of Ringgold using State Roads 2 or 146. They are hilly, narrow and long. Take I-59 to Trenton, GA and you're around 10 minutes from the exit to the campground. The climb is a little steep, but nothing compare to Amicoloa. As a matter of fact, when we visit Amicoloa, it's usually for a day trip without the RV and drive over from Cleveland or Blairsville. We had no issues with the climb or coming back down. We put the truck in 2nd gear and kept the speed around 25 miles per hour. There were two switch backs and both were very wide lanes and were not problem with the 40 foot 5th wheel and ton dually. Safe travels. It's a great campground.

  • @jasff69

    Not sure I want to take that mountain road with my motor Home. Think a day trip with toad a better idea for me.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These mountain roads can be a little disconcerting. With our truck and 5th wheel, we are 56 feet. We made the sharp turns with no problems. I was a little uneasy (maybe to much drama in the video), but manageable. Even coming back down, we dropped in a low gear. The road isn’t to busy, so the slower speeds up and down don’t seem to bother anyone.

      @iLoveRVlife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rebecca. Ummmmm...maybe a little to much drama on this one :-0 First trip up was a bit of a climb, but the road is well maintained and wide enough for the truck and fifth wheel. When we got to the campground, it was worth the trek.

    I was there in June of 2017, after you were there. I stayed on the east side, for its ready access to the canyon. The campground was almost empty because they had contractors rebuilding the cabins. They were stripped to the bare wall studs, inside and out, re-plumbed and wired, new a/c systems, etc, new siding, new roofs, etc, so it was quite noisy during the day, but I was out and about walking those 600 steps down to the waterfall, so it didn't matter. I drove in from Lafayette on the east side via 136, the drive is somewhat easier, from the looks of what you experienced.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Charles. It is a great campground and state park. Plan to return soon to hike the 12 mile rim. I had family stay in the cabins. They really enjoyed the stay. There were no complaints, but expect the upgrades will be well received. The last time we did the steps, we had a strong rain the day before. The falls shown in the video show the results. They were really something. I've done the 136 route. A little long and lots of curves. The west route is shorter.....hummm...maybe a little to much drama on the opening :-)
