I work for a consulate in Austria and I have met many Austrians who got the citizenship of another country without losing the Austrian why. I asked how they did it, and they answered they simply didn't tell to the Austrian authorities... so up to you if you want to follow the same path
I'm not shortsighted. Information is being agencies between government exchanges. Your friends are sitting on a ticking time bomb. Not bright at all. They also broke a serious law which could lead to loss of their Austrian citizenship and prison time.
Hey man, it’s neat to hear the topic of Austrian citizenship but current polls show most Austrians do not want changes to loosen the citizenship law. I have never been to Europe or Austria but I do hold duel citizenship. I do hold Austrian passport. I would never give up my Austrian citizenship if I was given the choice between my other.
Concerning your last point of the video. I discovered a lot of my ancestors on geni because I knew both sides of the family back to the 1600's so their system sent me as back as almost 2000 years ago. Not sure that I will get citizenship by ancestry but I started this to know myself more.
All the people in your space (Wealthy Expat, Nomad Capitalist, etc) are trying to renounce their U.S. citizenships and you want to obtain it. Please do a video on why you find US citizenship attractive and why you a want to get it as an EU citizen. P.S. I'm an American and would never renounce my US citizenship.
Once Trump returns to the Oval Office and restate "the draft" for working class Americans, you will relinquish your US citizenship warp speed just like STAR TREK!
@@user-ov5nd1fb7s There was/is someone (?) on youtube explaining his wife presented her Italian passport to Japanese customs - the wife was Japanese and was given a hard talking to. The husband ( was a diplomat? ) got her another Italian passport pronto. Of course, could've been just a story(?). Also, The Netherlands and Spain don't allow dual nationality. Although, with Spain there are exceptions ( e.g. old colonies & footballers).
@@NomadElite exactly. The daily question would be "do i still have Austrian citizenship today?" And even if you manage to keep it forever, its not worth the constant hassle. And if you have kids and even after your passing they find out somehow, they might revoke your kids' citizenship because it was ackquired illegally. You don't want to end up in this corner cases of the legal system.
Best of luck for your citizenship by descent. You assume the US exit tax threshold will increase, but it has not since it's inception in 2008 with the HEART Act, a bill written to provide tax relief for US soldiers. If anything, the real value of the cap is getting smaller due to inflation. You have some unique challenges with your existing citizenship and Argentina could provide some way for you, but imo should be a last resort route. Keep up the great content.
Undemocratic is an understatement. Recently had a referendum on conscription which is for young men only yet the whole country including women and those who had not previously served were allowed to vote. What a joke.
If a German citizen receives another citizenship and if he/she has not going through yet another German bureaucratic process, they will automatically lose their German citizenship. For German citizens wishing to keep their German citizenship, they need to go through a difficult bureaucratic process to prove why they need to keep their German citizenship. They need to prove their "links" to Germany and their "reasons" for keeping their German citizenship.
I don't know much about Austria. I've lived in Germany for couple of years and I hated it. I've never been so happy in my life than the day I left Germany. Terrible country.
I would use the Austrian passport to live in another EU country like Ireland then naturalize there which solves the dual citizenship issue.
Valid strategy for sure
A very insightful comment, one of the best.

Malaysia too does not allow dual citizenship
Would you want to get another passport?
@@NomadElite no.

Did you try ancestry?
@@NomadElite geni serves me best in the short and mid-term, thanks for asking.

Noted, thanks. Tons of business reasons behind my thinking. Most Americans abroad couldn't make anywhere near what they make back home.
I don't get it.
How would Austria ever know that you received another citizenship?
Just don't declare it.
This line of thinking is how people go to jail for.

Depends on the citizenship you obtain. They'll find out eventually, nothing stays a secret forever.
I have no interest in not declaring what I'm obligated to declare. I want to go to bed at night and sleep well. There are other options out there.

Well, to Russia and to China you can travel Visa free with your Austrian passport

Not anymore, Germany changed the law this year.
Only fragmented Austria is limping

I won't even transit that country! Worst people imaginable.
Yikes
I’ve travelled much of Europe and found west Germany uninspiring.
Really? Why?
I'm not doubting you. Just wanna know because I always hear good things about Germany.
I've heard a thing about getting the Austia citizenship in regard to what the brown shirts have done.
Not impossible. Just become leader of Austria and have the rules changed. 😂
Going to grow a beard like Moses before it happens!
How about becoming an actor?
I wouldn’t bother with the US passport just keep your Austrian! 😅
I'll trade you my US passport for one of yours.
Are you sure?
