Broke me to pieces as a 4 Yr old that film. I'm 50 now & someone gave it to me about 12 years ago on dvd. Still haven't opened it. Fuckin' traumatised, I tell you. Like being an arsenal fan
To me, he is the main motherfucker. He's maybe not the best, but he's currently my favourite guitarist. Wonderfully talented, and as you rightly state, just how cool is this guy ? I look at the so called "talent shows" on TV nowadays then I look at James, and I think "just what the fuck ?". James Dean Bradfield is the fucking man.
Why does a spoof of a song make me cry? How does a Manic sing about a rabbit and make you cry? Madness....JDB could sing Humpty Dumpty and make me cry ! He has the BEST voice and I love him!!xx
Love this!. I got the Manics collection of b-sides and cover versions and this one surprised me!. Just shows you how versatile the band are, great vocals on this!. One of the earliest songs I grew up with, sad but a total classic song. Blame it on those cartoon rabbits!.
Ah man, nothing this boy can’t sing, i'm a year older than James, profound influence this movie when it came out, remember it being number 1 for about 4 or 5 weeks when art garfunkel sang it.
Love you James Dean Bradfield, Absolute legend beautiful track, talk about bringing back memories of Watership Down I cried my eyes out to in the Cinema In 1978 :(. Can't wait to see you guys @the Brixton Academy in 18 days time :D x
The song is about the death of Mike Batts (the composer) father from cancer. Listen to the lyrics - beautiful. Would love James to do a version of Forever Autumn like this...
Awesome singer. Has anybody else thought this song was about nuclear war? I thought that is what this song was about until I looked it up, makes sense.
Bright Eyes" Is it a kind of dream Floating out on the tide Following the river of death downstream Oh, is it a dream? There's a fog along the horizon A strange glow in the sky And nobody seems to know where you go And what does it mean Oh, is it a dream? Bright eyes, burning like fire Bright eyes, how can you close and fail? How can the light that burned so brightly Suddenly burn so pale? Bright eyes Is it a kind of shadow Reaching into the night Wandering over the hills unseen Or is it a dream? There's a high wind in the trees A cold sound in the air And nobody ever knows when you go And where do you start Oh, into the dark Bright eyes, burning like fire Bright eyes, how can you close and fail? How can the light that burned so brightly Suddenly burn so pale? Bright eyes Bright eyes, burning like fire Bright eyes, how can you close and fail? How can the light that burned so brightly Suddenly burn so pale? Bright eyes
It isn't about nuclear war at all! 99 red balloons is about that subject. Bright eyes is about a person dying, the composers father, of cancer. Please check your facts, do a bit of research rather than spread misinformation.
Noel didnt like James? Never heard of that one before. That's a shame 'cos James did express his admiration for Noel in Everything Must Go documentary.
I feel sorry for theose in the tent behind him. "For fuck sake Jim keep it down we're trying to kip over ere. Or at least do one of your more well known cover versions. I beleive your acoustic version of Wham's Last Chrismas is more conducive to sleep. All though not seasonally accurate."
If this ain't playing at my funeral, I ain't dying.
JDB and an acoustic guitar. It doesn't get much better than this for me.
Can`t watch Watership Down without crying my eyes out.

No words can describe how cool James Dean Bradfield is.

James Dean Bradfield is the fucking man.
He is the man, indeed! He should be more appreciated for his cool guitar-skills and amazing voice.
everything he sings is just great

take away the rabbits, and its a song about life and death.
Love this!. I got the Manics collection of b-sides and cover versions and this one surprised me!. Just shows you how versatile the band are, great vocals on this!. One of the earliest songs I grew up with, sad but a total classic song. Blame it on those cartoon rabbits!.

Yeah! Good suggestion. I reckon jdb could do a brilliant solo cover of Midlife Crisis too. Imagine that
Awesome singer.
Has anybody else thought this song was about nuclear war?
I thought that is what this song was about until I looked it up, makes sense.
Bright Eyes"
Is it a kind of dream
Floating out on the tide
Following the river of death downstream
Oh, is it a dream?

And nobody seems to know where you go
And what does it mean
Oh, is it a dream?
Bright eyes, burning like fire
Bright eyes, how can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?

Reaching into the night
Wandering over the hills unseen

Oh, into the dark
Bright eyes, burning like fire
Bright eyes, how can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes

Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes

"how can the eyes that burned so brightly suddenly suddenly grow so pale"
Genial
I know, but it's still JDB - Bright Eyes. Different account btw.
she is sufferig...........i dig it
I know what the song is about, but it will forever be associated with the cartoon film, Watership Down.
This was Glasto 2002
Wonderful cover, but I still can't help but think of dying bunnies!
or what does it mean...oh oh is it a dream? Is that the greatest formation of chords I've heard in a pop song? Don't tell me, the answer's yes
Ha hey! 👋
Yep, agree
@boeingbloke777 aye, thats when i read it....but i did read it in smash hits lul....god i feel old saying that.
What a charming thing to write....
I wonder if you're brave enough to do that to people's faces...
Dark Eyes!
How the heck has this got less than 100k views after 12 years ????????????????
People have no taste
youre right, hes always great
but in this vid he sings a little bit deeper
hey, have you got a date for this video?
Put simply...No JDB...No MSP.
June 2003
Noel didnt like James? Never heard of that one before. That's a shame 'cos James did express his admiration for Noel in Everything Must Go documentary.
hahahaha me tooo!!!!
Does anyone know the guitar he is playing?
Thanks Terence
@bekyea You listened? no then?
It's ironic he chose to wear shades for this one.
Add the fact that he supports an English football team.
Lovely version, but learn the words JDB lol

4 people are ill
check out the puressence version....pisses on this
Two completely different styles of vocalists. Like comparing jack White to dolly parton. Pointless comment.
I am pretty anti social
I'm hot.
To trot.
Stick 'em up, never drop a smile.
Keep people wondering.
Mystery's a gift.
