    This is one of the many reasons that I could not live on the Continent. I spent a monsoon season there and almost freaked out. I am afraid of creepy crawly things. Those are nothing compared to the weird crawlers and flyers that emerged after the rain when I was there. Thanks for sharing.

      I just stay away from them.

    I remember those in Detroit around street lights, it was gross especially when you have to drive them them on the ground. I think they’re called cicadas!!

    They are termites! This really is a gift from Heaven. They are delicacies and pure, rich source of protein. Disregard the wings and you can fry or dry them! I know this is not part of your diet but you can try!

    A couple of years ago I had my compound full of crows eating them in the morning.
    Then a few days later the crows were chased away by vultures, there were about 20 walking around and eating

    Those are termites in the rainy season they grow wings and fly to find mates. After they found a mate they dropped off their wings and bore a hole to start a colony.
    Chickens love them you should let your chicken have a feast…..

      I dont know where they go.
      There are millions of wings on the ground you have to sweep up.
      Then it happens again ..when it rains heavy.

    They are harmless but cleaning up after them is a problem. They sometimes appear in Kenya too during the rainy seasons. Dogs and birds feast on them, some people eat them too 😂

    Full bowl with water, put under the flying bugs, bugs drop in water . Try it ,you 'll see it works.

      Yes it does work, I dnt think they bite infact they are edible. Very tasty wings removed than left to dry for a few days than deep fry them with added salt.

    You should let your chickens out to feast on the bugs Your dogs cannot catch your chickens easily so don't worry about your chickens , the dogs would eventually stop chasing them, you can test the waters with Benjamin and the other cockeralls, then hens without chicks and eventually let them all out to roam.

    Hello Arrival, those are known as white ants. They are eaten in some parts of Africa including us in Uganda. They are dry fried with salt until crispy. A very good source of protein. They are harmless and they only come during rainy season. Enjoy

    They are call bugcabug in Liberia they come during the rainy season they eat them when they come at night they put a bucket of water under the light so they can fall in it by morning they take it out of the water put them in a pot with a little salt and dry them until all the wings comes out and it is cooked they taste good, but you don't have to try it 🎉❤

    I thought they were the fish flies that are here in Michigan near the lake areas. Mid June thru July. They too are all over everything. Google Fishfly and you will see the devastation they can cause. I feel your pain. They also are harmless, but a great nuisance.

      I dont know where they are during the day.
      The next morning the wings are left behind and you have to sweep them up.

    Those are very nutritious. Just gather them, then put them in a pan and dry heat them (roast); add a little bit of salt and eat them. Very rich in protein. Very rare species. Comes once a year during the rainy season. You are lucky to have right on your door. We used to go and get them on termite mound far away from home with all the risks of being bitten by snakes that also come to eat them!!!!
