My journey of purpose , wheels are difficult to find for this bike. And to be honest my wife is going to crazy on this bike so the stock ones are fine. The sticker removal was a great aesthetic upgrade haha

That’s awesome dude. I’m just finishing upgrading mine today I got my 10 speed cassette and Shimano Deore derailleur, upgrading my bike has been a journey. I’ve learn a lot. Replaced fork, stem, handlebars, pedals, crankset, saddle only thing missing now it’s hydraulic brakes. I even installed and internal routing dropper post.
Just a heads up I converted my GT Aggressor (same model just bought mine during Covid as well) to tubeless using Goodyear Newton 27.5x2.6 tires, it is working perfectly with the stock wheels/rims.
That's a truly nice bike. My son has the same but different color and I want to upgrade it to a 1x system but I'll wait for him to make up his mind. Again great video, definitely great looking mtb. You and your family stay blessed and safe.

Thanks for the vid, enjoyed it. I bought the avalanche and did the upgrade thing too, not the best idea price wise but was limited bikes available to purchase during lockdown so trying to keep to reasonable budget upgrades but doesn’t always happen. At least if I enjoy riding enough to upgrade bikes at some point I’ll learn while having this one and have some spares to swap over too. Should probably switch up that saddle for something a bit comfier too if that’s your thing, I went with a charge spoon.
C W, saddle and a dropper post are going next! Yeah man it has been fun tinkering with this. As my wife rides more, I’ll probably get her Kona full suspension like the precept or something along those lines.

Did you have to buy the SRAM XD Driver to install the 1x12 Eagle drivetrain cassette to the rear wheel? Or does it just go on the rear gt aggressor stock wheel without?
I believe this groupset comes with a 11-50 tooth cassette which means that it will fit the old style shimano hub (HG hub) and since he said that he did not change the rims that means that he used the stock hub
It'll work, for 8 speed and up hub bodies 7 speed wheels you'd need a new hub body for 30 bucks via Amazon, new bearings and a spacer or two If you're wanted 13 speeds....S-Ride

Hey Melina, so that’s a great question. I would say doing the SRAM Eagle NX DUB groupset was the best upgrade for this bike. A close second would be the fork upgrade. Hope you enjoy it!

Hey sir great question. So the stock handle bars were too wide for my wife so we had some Chromag bars lying around that were thicker and shorter. Honestly we could have cut the stock bars down but since I was already changing everything I gave her some performance bars. (Not that she needs it)
Great looking bike and great upgrades, im looking at an entry level bike that i can upgrade as i progress as i am noob. Im between this, specilized pitch/rockhopper, cube aim. What would you recommend? Does the GT have a tapered headset?
This GT doesn’t have a tapered headset. It’s a straight steerer. Personally man if I was going to do this all over again. I would have flat out bought a better bike. But the experience of creating something was worth it to me. But I think the best budget bike would be the Kona Honzo $1499 has everything you could need for a beginner without having to sacrifice your wallet. The pitch and the rock hopper have the same santour fork which might as well throw away. Not familiar with the cube aim. But I’ll look at it after I’m done writing this post. Good luck to you! the smaller frame GT Aggressor Pro's look so much better then the bigger frame versions. I own one in an XL and honestly the frame is pretty ugly, it rides great but just with the larger frame and altered geometry for the size it kind of doesn't look good. I just bought a Poseidon Norton frame about a month ago and transferred all my parts from my GT to the Poseidon, minus the wheels, crankset which i had to buy new because of the thru-axles and boost spacing. I also kept the Rockshox Recon RL on the GT and bought a 160mm Rockshox Domain for the Norton. I ended up using my parts bin parts and made my GT into a janky looking road bike and It's extremely fun to ride since it's alot lighter then it was with all the heavy mtb parts. FYI I bought a WTB STi23 wheelset for my GT, they are slightly wider then stock and have QR and are pretty inexpensive.
Shadow got the groupset off back country and for the fork I went to a local bike shop told them what I was looking for and they ordered it directly from SRAM. I can you the part numbers to make it a little easier for you.
Gilzer, very valid question. I believe that there are much better bikes out there for your money. After all of the time and money went into making this bike ride the way it does, there are bikes that come with these components on it probably could find used for a decent price. But I have to say this as well, I learned so much about building this thing that it made it worth it for me. So in short, worth it for you, probably not, look at some hard tails with a 1x11 or 1x12 and a air shock . This is close to about $1500 in parts.
What did all these upgrades cost you? I am waiting for my money that was taken from debit card to be returned then I am picking up an Aggressor Pro. I wanted an Avalanche but after that money being taken and auto repairs, I am broke! I really shouldn't buy this bike but I really need to get riding again Bro!

I am using the original headset. Just had to change the star nut to fit this fork. It all tightened together nicely. If you want to see it stacked let me know. I can probably posts picture
I ordered one today..Reason: 1. No other bikes were available on the market. 2. Price Gouging on Second hand Market. 3. This was luckily available(one left in stock) with decent reviews. I have never upgraded any bikes. How did you upgrade? By yourself or at a repair shop.
So I’m lucky enough to have a good friend who is a world class bike mechanic. Literally the guy is a genius and he has helped me build this. But I’m sure I could have figured somethings out on my own, I don’t have some of the tools necessary so that’s why I went to him. I’d say do some research on what you can do on your own because bike shops can be expensive. Good luck to you and I hope found this reply and video helpful.
Godol sss not sure if amazon is the place to go for this stuff, I mean maybe you can try but I found pretty much all I needed on BackCountry.com they have great deals for first time buyers. For 1x12 can go with either .Sram NX or Shimano Deore... but with SunRace cassette..SunRace is better also die to less loose cog Deore route you need to use SunRace for HG hub as Shimano is all microspline Sram you can use the NX or SunRace
Would you recommend this bike size (15" Aggressor Pro) for someone who is 5' tall? I see that dicks sports have a new 13" size of Aggressor Pro available on their website but they haven't listed any geometry for that. I am contemplating whether I should get 13" or 15" for a 5' tall rider.

Besides the bottom bracket, did you have to upgrade to fit the SRAM nx eagle dub groupset? I was barely able to fit a 1×10 on my Agressor Pro.

It did! The whole SRAM Eagle NX group set fits perfectly including the cassette. You will have to adjust the derailer once everything is on.
SRAM NX Eagle DUB Groupset. I think I forgot to include the “DUB” you’ll have to get the DUB BSA bottom bracket to make this work.

I think I had some lying around the garage from other builds and I just used that. But I think you can use the stock one

Honestly some people feel that wider bars give more control in tighter turns but the stock bars are fine some prefer them smaller

Yeah just go with this set up, I can’t speak for all brands but this worked great no spacers necessary

What travel is the fork? I can’t find any rockshox recons with 1 1/8 steered above 100mm

The color is gunmetal. I’d honestly recommend a medium for your height the small is too small for me and I’m 5’7 as well

For 1x12 can go with either .Sram NX or Shimano Deore... but with SunRace cassette..SunRace is better also die to less loose cog
Deore route you need to use SunRace for HG hub as Shimano is all microspline
Sram you can use the NX or SunRace

Most of everything I bought came from backcountry.com I had to special order the fork from a bike shop. SRAM doesn’t sell off their website

Would you recommend this bike size (15" Aggressor Pro) for someone who is 5' tall? I see that dicks sports have a new 13" size of Aggressor Pro available on their website but they haven't listed any geometry for that. I am contemplating whether I should get 13" or 15" for a 5' tall rider.
Hey Brij, I bought this bike for my wife who is 5 feet tall. So I’d say this would be the way to go. The 13 inch is probably going to be too small.

ok its slx xt and xtr components 4 pot brakes. its a 1x9 but that and a dropper are the last 2 things to change

Weakndatkennys I’m not sure man didn’t weigh it before or after. I’m sure a decent amount though.
