Love to see the old girl again! The GT got me hooked on your channel. I bought a GT Avalanche in 2022 and wanted to upgrade the fork. Was looking at the Suntour Epixon and wanted a review. Low and behold you guys had a GT and tested the Epixon on it. Its because of you that I run that fork on my bike now 😃
Just bought a Marin Bolinas Ridge2 and can't wait for it to come in. Was a bike mechanic for years and can't resist the price! Keep up with the good work!
When I first started watching your videos what made me remember your videos was the red crank on the blue bike! Microshift Alcolyt is a really good derail your my son still running his he loves it! It may be wearing out stuff doesn't last forever
I have 2 2019 gt avalanches I just love the way the bike fits me and feels with a nice fork up front…140mm air fork works really good. Both are medium frame but one is a comp with 29s so I have both 27.5 and 29.
An updated budget bike video would be cool, I actually just bought a gt aggressor pro cause I caught it on sale for 300 at dicks and having been waiting for months for it to drop back down. It's my first mtb and I am out of shape so just conditioning around the house for now but I'm so hype to take it out and use your videos to help me maintain and upgrade it myself. You guys rock!
Me too. Got mine last year. Only upgrades I’ve done so far is adjust all the bolts on the bike and replace the bike saddle. I’m not sure what other things I’ll change later on. I’m thinking I’ll eventually get a new bike before I start doing major modifications
Tick, I feel you. I'm 5'8 and I feel right at home on my large Voodoo Hoodoo. I rode an XL specialized FSR for a while and it was stable, but definitely not shred-worthy for me.
You're 5'8 and ride a large frame let a lone used to on a xl... Same height and gt pro here..and I ride with my saddle almost all the way down and still almost have a hard time putting my feet on the ground
Great to see the original GT Aggro back! After following you guys for the past 3 years, still look forward to watching your next video! Lately I've been watching from the TV, on a different account, so I comment less, but you guys still Rock! I liked the Royce Union, royal onion? Haha. Anyway great work!
I just purchased a 2020 Gt aggressor pro Xl . I love this bike slowly upgrading it week by week . Im glad I found the wolf tick videos, very informative , always been a Gt rider since the Gt performer from the Bmx days of old . My bike is not trail ready but it’s getting there. Because of your videos thank you guys your awesome # 52anstilridn
I would love to hear your take on the Medium vs small. I bought a 2nd hand one off facebook for under $50 in great shape. i'm 5'7 and 300lbs and its a small frame. I thought it was going to be too small but actually it's perfect. I had it in my head to find a medium until I got on the small one.
I started watching your videos to research for budget bikes. Now I watch to see how you are doing and what other budget addons to consider for my bike. Would love to see the legendary H-may-loooooo again to see how they are holding up to your riding. 👍Thanks for all your reviews Ps. I ended up buying an XRpro, but regret not having found a ledge x2 at that time(when everything was unavailable). The tapered head tube would have been sweet for upgrading forks later on.
it's pronounced Ha May Low!!!! haha I bought the XR-Pro as well and it's still doing well but I also like hearing about the other old bikes. I vote XR-Pro.😃
Great video, love the aggressor so it was nice to have a reminder of what's it's been through. You definitely open a wolftick museum 😂 Would like to see the compzerker again👍 Take care guys 😎🍻👍
Blue, red and yellow maxxis logo bling in nice.. Ive got the same problem.. Shifting to 12 gear.. Change it back to original 9 speed and cable works fine..
It’s good to see the GT again. With regards bars and stems: the wider the bar the slower the steering, the shorter the stem the quicker the steering. So it’s a balancing act for how you like it. But width of bar is usually down to personal shoulder comfort.
Make sure to drip some 3-in-1 oil on the cable when you replace it and are feeding it into the new housing, I've found that makes a noticeable difference in long-term shifting quality.
I put an angled headset on my old gt to make it 1,5 ° slacker. I bought one from works components in the UK for around 60 euros. It could be a nice upgrade to modernize your bike. Far less expensive than a new bike!
My ixf crank experiences... Wifes GT Aggressor took no spacers. Schwinn Al Comp took a spacer on each side. Its always different with each BB shell. Just go with the flow man. 😂⚓👍
My now defunct Schwinn s29 bike had that same shifting issue as your Microshift. I had an Alivio 3 x 9 setup on a 11 -36t cassette, and my shifting would be great from 1st - 6th, but when i tried to shfit it to 7th - 9th, it would not shift. The barrel adjuster would help it shift into those higher gears, but then 1st - 3rd would not work, and I'd have to keep pressure on the trigger to get it to go into 3rd, 2nd, or 1st. I miss my Hilda though. 🥺
With the crankset, bb setup, I can relate - I have two bikes with the same prowheel claw crankset, same prowheel bb and same 68 mm bb shell. On one bike i had to put two spacers on each side to get rid of the axle play. On the other bike with 4 or 3 spacers I could not eliminate the play. The axle length is typical 112 mm but I guess the spline part which mates with the left crank has a manufacturing flaw. These splines are prowhweel's own design I have replaced this crankset with racework xt also with 112 mm axle and shimano-style splines and there is no play with 3 spacers. Don't buy prowheel claw.
I’m sure you know this but if your bikes not shifting right your new cable may have just stretched out a little, which is normal with use. You just need to add a little more tension using the barrel adjuster up by the shifter. But usually your cassette starts rubbing against the chain and making noise before it’ll just stop shifting from the cable stretching so idk.
I am very interested in knowing what happened with the microshift groupo. That many teeth gor going uphill seems great. I upgraded to 46 teeth but had to extend the derraileur cage with an extender and when I torque uphill it seems to shift down. I'm getting tired of indexing over and over. If I find a budget 10 speed with a long cage derraileur I'll buy it( and I'll make it a 1 by; 3x8 is a pain when turning from uphill to downhill).
I have a question about the dropper. As you know the seat post goes nowhere near bottoming out due to the bolts, even if removed. Is there anyway to solve that and how much higher is a dropper when all the way down that just the seat all the way down? I want a dropper but already feel that the stock seat doesnt get low enough for descending and being out of the way? I dont want to waste money on a dropper if it doesnt get low. I wish there was a way to have the seat all the way down at times.
15:05 It clearly was not up to the task, a dropper post should handle some abuse, but of course there's a limit. But never bent a dropper post. I suspect it might be due to too weak material, too thin tubing, cus of the seat tube diameter, the post will be more fragile as wall thickness is likely smaller to get room for the internals. But a saddle can bend or break on a brutal crash, but not bent titanium rail on Fabric Scoop Shallow Race. I've not tried the Cromoly rail version, but that on sale is a great deal. I got the Shallow Race on sale so bought 4. one got worn so was got less comfy.
Would you say the Royce Union RHT is an Agressor killer? The fact that it has a 44/44 headset and better components and the absolute best stock pedals ever 😜
Right, except that the GT Aggressors are at every Dick’s Sporting Goods. I don’t think the Royce Union is that widely available. That’s one thing that will hold it back.
When my wife was my gf, I bought her a GT Aggressor Sport. It was one of the few in XS for under $500 that I could find locally. Well, the bike has rim breaks and no ISO mount for disc breaks on the frame. This was 2016 and we have gotten good milage off the ~$350 bike with only upgrading the break pads. What should I do, upgrade or start over? New tires, pedals, grips and crank would probably cost almost as much as a new budget bike. I am a little bit floored that the average costs of tires is $60 each. I could buy a Norco Storm 5 for around $350 and that might be a better starting point. Maybe I could sell the GT for $50? New budget bike or upgrade this bike, with the limitation of rear rim breaks?
Hey guys! I love your channel and just know that you have been instrumental to helping me build my GT Aggressor Pro. My question is, is there a way to get that wolftick videos decal that you have on the tube of the GT Aggressor Pro? I would love to sport that on my bike!
8:14 Pinned TV tried Microshift Advent X , they had 3 units act up, clutch had issues I think, and probably the issues you had, something seems off with Microshift Rds, in addition to the massive play in the clutch cus it's a ratchet mechanism, not a friction clutch like Shimano. There does not seem to be an better or equal alternative to Shimano Deore. To quote him ''Microsh!t''
Hey how does the ixf cranks work with a 10 speed drivetrains are they great or no I have a 10 speed and am thinking of grabbing them for my gt aggressor we make pros lol 🎉
Hey, I really like your channel. Quick question in regard to poor shifting. Does the GT Aggressor Pro have a derailleur hanger? If so, have you verified that it is still straight?
16:52 Headset: It's likely worn out as you say. But if it's worn out already I can't say that's a good headset. lasting 10 years or more on the other hand. Try cleaning the headset, take seals off, grease the bearings. if that does not make it better it's not dirty or lacking grease, it's likely worn or rust damage.
The Microsoft derailleur might need a cable refresh. A cable replacement can make an old group perform like new.... if the cables are worn. Sometimes it's the housing, or the ferrils on the end... the caps with the hole on the ends of the housing. I've had those wear out and cause drag and delay in shifting. Good luck sorting it out. Please post an update on the repair.
what's up guys! I'm from Brazil and I have a gt avalanche. I would like to know if it is possible to put a 130mm or 140mm fork on this bike. Maybe a zeron suntour....hugs.
I think the issue with you guys and tubeless is just like what Wolfman said you got so many bikes and you got to add sealant to them too much it would just get expensive most of my bikes I add sealant at least twice a year but it doesn't bother me because out on the trail I don't get flats just kind of what's important to me
Why don’t you guys do something different and build a bike from the frame up ? First off, not the best way to save money. But you can cut some corners. Like, and it’s a little painful, buying used. I ran out of money on building my 2013 NOS GT Zaskar off eBay...Went for a perfectly good used fork and front wheel. So I’m saying buy a frame, new or used or NOS, whatever, and build a bike.
Hey you guys expired me to go ride a bike I have two GT mountain bikes and a Schwinn Cruiser 6 I have a GT aggressor Pro all decked out and nice parts I made it into a 1×9 I have Continental cross Kings on them 27 Large thank you very much love from Wa stat2
Was nice to see the old OG girl get some love again. I remember the poolside unboxings. The GT was your test dummy for sure and I remember a brake video you did together and Wolfman got all sketched out when he almost went OTB. 🦥
grateful I found you guys and very happy with my GT aggressor sport, now comes the upgrades!

Acolyte works with that Advent, Advent X and Shimano 9,10,11 speed mech's. Pull ratio ins the same.
Just bought a Marin Bolinas Ridge2 and can't wait for it to come in. Was a bike mechanic for years and can't resist the price! Keep up with the good work!

Yoooo saw the aggresor update and had to watch again. 24 k holy moly brother. Boy do i have some updates for you soon.
That was awesome! Fireside chat with Wolftick! How is the old Taff doing?? Have a great weekend guys. I really wish we could have made that trip!
You will be missed!
Acolyte will work with the Advent X 10 speed shifter and cassette.

I need to try them 420 breaks I'm still using the Meroca breaks and they're not working bad but I would like to try the Shimano
I’d love to see the Taff or the boundary again, even the XR pro would be fun.
Nice little walk down memory lane with the GT
I tried the PNW range bar and stem combo and i am very happy with them. Their xl grips are my new favorite
Great video, love the aggressor so it was nice to have a reminder of what's it's been through.

You guys should do a few reviews on some cheap droppers
Love the oversized tire talk as a Jeep guy, so if I’m ok with a little self clearancing can I swing 2.8s on a large or still 2.6?
13:34 ''downhill forks''😆
I’m looking at droppers for my GT so a video for that would be perfect
I havent watched in a while do you have a full squish yet you have done.
I am very interested in knowing what happened with the microshift groupo. That many teeth gor going uphill seems great.

Bring back the 2023 GT Aggressor Pro! 😉
I would love to see a newer avalanche vs the aggressor pro. Just curious how it would compare.
Are you guys gonna put a dropper on that thing ever? Asking for a friend...
Ticks buns of steel just reminded me why😅😅😅😅😅
Yep!! Lol
Guys how about a troubleshoot segment on yer videos, would a nice added content. 😊
Whats your opinions on the Genesis Silverton?

So many interruptions and talking over. It's jarring . He needs to work on that. It's kinda disrespectful.
