Wonderful program, Sir. Kudos to your efforts in bringing these timeless melodies and artists to our attention. Another tiny suggestion: If you could find a way to add a list of songs discussed and their time stamps that would make it easier for people who watch later on YT. Thank you once again for sharing your commendable expertise! ETA: Beimaan tore nainwa is my favorite too!
@@peeyushsharma346 Yes, I meant at the information section in the video. I'll try to add them if I can in a comment. I'm still catching up on all your videos, I'll make sure I keep a note next time! :)
Anil Biswas claimed that he taught Lata breathing technique, but Lata refused. She specifically said that she did not learn it from Anil Biswas. But that's what Lata became later in her life. At that time she only gave due credit to Ghulam Haider.
she is a liar. I have it written by her on her letter head, among more she wrote, I learnt the correct way to pronounce words and where to give emphasis, I learnt how to breath in between a song, also, on swar and voice. This was published in our Tribute to Anil Biswas. Lata is known to speak lies in other matters too
Piyush ji, the controversy about the composition of Woh din kahan gaye bata is misconceived. Tarana was released in October 1951 and Sangdil a year later in November 1952. Sajjad Husain could have found Anil Da's tune irresistible . Or the similarity between this song and Aj mere nasib ne could have been accidental. I admire Sajjad , in fact adore him for the score of his last movie Rustam Sohrab; but I would not place him in the same class as Anil da. Anil da was a prince, a titan who shaped Indian film music like no one else and additionally shaped the next generation of music makers and singers also. Let us not forget that Roshan, C. Ramchandra and Salil Chaudhary - all learnt their magical music from Anil da and singers like Lta Mangeshker, Talat Mehmood , Mukesh and Meena Kapoor sang some of their best songs under his baton. I would rate him above Rai Chand Boral ,Pankaj Mullick and Khem Chand Prakash. If he had got a chance to compose for Sahgal, God knows what wonders of an altogether new kind the world would have seen. I am so pleased to find someone like you give him his due, even though long after his death. I have watched many of your videos recently and am impressed by your knowledge of the subject.I am however surprised that you have overlooked some of the most mesmerising creations of Anil da like Na dir deen tana ( Pardesi, Lata), the classical wonders by Lata and Manna Dey from Sautela Bhai and Mori bali re umariya and Zindagi khwab hai by Lata and Mukesh from Chhoti chhoti Batein. I suggest that a man of your level of knowledge of music should bring out episodes on those geniuses who were robbed of sufficient opportunities to shine and get their names written in the history of our film music. I mean people like Sardar Malik, Ghulam Muhammad, Datta Ram,Dhani Ram, Lachhi Ram and Dan Singh.
thank you very much for your comments. I have done an earlier episode on Anil da duets, you will find the link in same youtube link. I have spoken about Anil da being the master that almost all followed and demonstrated it too. RC Boral and Punkaj Mullick were in a different era with different set up, technically. WE should not compare. And, Anil da did sign the Saigal-Noorjahan film, only Saigal died and it did not work. Jeevan sapna toot gaya was rehearsed with Saigal. I will certainly do more episodes on Anil da and use many more songs. And yes I will speak on other MDs as suggested by you. Thanks again
