My Dad had three dogs that weighed about a 100 pounds each. He would load them up in his horse trailor or cattle trailor and take them to the vet. That saved a lot of time and aggravation. They loaded up sooooo much easier than trying to lift them up in his truck. Might want to try it next time.
Russell a big boy , didn't hear what Rachel was saying cause she wasn't near the Mike, hope the meds work for him , thanks for the update, bye Hidden Heights Farm Family 👋 🫶❤️🫶
Ya'll take excellent care of your animals and Russell's no exception. Not here to dictate nor shame what you do on your land with your animals, I rarely comment. Just know there's probably way more folks like me who are quiet and have come to love ya'll. Take care. 😎✌️
I've been worried about Russell, I had a Doberman pup grew to fast his legs grew faster than his body, named him bear cause he looked like a bear running. I wish I could be a member but I'm a senior and barely get by. I always love the videos, your family, farm and animals ❤️
Once he gets healed ; it’s not too late to train Russel. But it takes consistency. I once had a female St Barnard that I had never had in a leash. I was 8 months PG. it was winter and icy. That dog drug me into and out of the Vets. I called my friend who raised Saints. She gave me a spike collar and a 15 ft lead. I took my dog out in the snowy back yard. I went one direction and when she passed me I turned around. Set myself and when she hit the end of that lead she stopped. It took about ten times and I gave that equipment back. That dog was the best walker and loaded up til she passed.
That is correct, many people get a certain breed. And expect that, the dog will do its job. Working class dogs have certain attributes but it's breed into them at a genetic level. My wife and I have two Doberman's and an Australian Shepherd. The two Dobie's were trained to be nice behaved dogs. One of the Dobie's has been additionally trained to actually guard our homestead. The other Dobie picks up on some things from the other (advanced trained) dog. Our Australian Shepherd loves to run around and tries to herd the goats....when the dog is in a playful mood. However, he won't do it on command per se. He was abandoned at my wife's Vet clinic. Tied to the front door knob. Initially we were going to find him a good home. Which we did....he won our hearts over. And is one of our family members. The reason you find so many pure breeds at shelters. People have no clue what they're getting into. When the select a certain breed.
I rescued a walker treeing coonhound mix ( they told me he was pit mix) I did a DNA test on him. This lazy woman had him tied to her back porch ( we live in townhouse apartments / duplexes, no fenced yard ). He was all but skin and bones when I got him. Some food and love is all he needed. He LOVES everybody, even the mailman, every person that MIGHT come to our door. We are working on that, but it's cold outside, and I don't want to keep opening my door. Lol. We've had him for a year, and he was about 11 months old when we got him. He has changed a lot since I got him. Baths are a work in progress, too. I've never had a dog like him, his personality, and his sensitivity. He is supposed to be my husband's assistant dog. That will take some time. He has been hurt, and he doesn't quite trust us completely yet. He sleeps with me every night, though, and he does alert me when my husband doesn't sound right, is just waking up, or might have dropped something and can't reach it. We're in the same room, but we both use a computer and headphones.
Can't hardly wait till we find out about the baby goats. I love ya'll videos they are great 👍 keep up the wonderful work you do. May God bless you and your family and friends.
I had a 40 pound schnauzer and I’m in my 70s and I had to load it in my car, I even bought a ramp for him to go up in the back of my SUV and he wouldn’t do it. It’s very hard to load a dog that doesn’t want to get in the car into the car. I empathize with y’all when you were loading Russel so much, and Russel is such a good dog. Maybe you can start training him now since he’s still only a year old. My dog was 13.
It would be helpful for all the big dogs to be leashed trained when you do have to take them to the vet. He's probably just growing so fast right now and his body is trying to catch up. Happy belated birthday Russell.
Glad you got to the vet and he’s taking his medicine. I still can get over how big he’s gotten. Very tall. Poor Cora. I think she’s just over the boys in her life for the moment. 🤣🤣 Take care and I can’t wait to see the babies in the front field. I’m pretty sure those momma’s are tired of being pregnant by now! See you in the next video.🙏🏽💕
Our two Great Pyrenees dogs have tons of land to run, but we still take them on leash walks. I take one of them with me to Tractor Supply at a time. I ask them if they want “chicken nuggets” and oh boy they jump right in my truck or SUV. If your dogs get car sick you can feed the “Nuggies” when you get them home. It gets them familiar with loading and riding to go places. Hoping the very best for Russell and his poor leg. Love you guys!❤
My dog had the same thing, I strongly advise you get more of the medication as it will come back, due to the fact that you can’t keep him from running and playing
I guessed 120 lbs,, close but no cigar 😉💕 I love the sassy donkey,🤭 Hope Russell feels better soon,💖 Dont be to hard on Leskie,, things are shifting in the pack dynamics 🐶🐶🐶💖💖💖💖💖
So happy to see Russell on the Farm but I get Goose bumps when I hear "Too Young For Cancer" .My best friends brother was told that by his Dr. When he when he went to a appt. With a concern then died from cancer 😢. Unfortunately I've even known babies born with cancer and recovered ❤ . Get better Russell we LOVE you!!!
Just watching your video about the results from Russell's vet visit. Glad he is doing better. Just an FYI - if the vet prescribes a medicine that humans can also take, have the vet write out a prescription and take it to your local pharmacy and they can fill it for a lot cheaper than what the vet charges. I did that several times for one of my dogs. It was a difference of about $10-$20. Have a great day!
I bet it is panno. Which is a juvenile arthritis. Large breeds grow fast and if they grow too fast sometimes they end up with "growing pains". Panno is actually hairline fractures in the long bone of the legs. My 130lb German shepherd had panno when he was about a yr old. They do outgrow it tho. So best case scenario this is what it is and he will outgrow it.
Having a vet who will tell you what their thought process is as they do the diagnosing, and is happy to say, "I dont know for sure yet", is such a blessing - you know what to keep looking for , and remember, and what the choices are at every stage, instead of just paying the bill whatever!
Yes, I was thinking that, too. But also wondered why the vet didn't schedule the appointment with more time or arrange an overnight stay. Vet knew how long he had been dealing with this problem, so would have thought having x-ray would be expected and planned for. Glad he's getting treatment.
Prayers the medicines work for Russell 🙏🙏🙏. And that once the medication is finished the problem doesn’t return. Hugs and Love. Grammie Suzie ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏
I think when you are with your animals all day every day and have for quite some time, you know what you can fix yourself and what you need some help with. Years of experience will teach a lot.
I have seen and heard of people with Guardian dogs if they get injured they do put them up in a small pen with a little bit of livestock so they can still feel like they're doing their job
Happy to see the meds are working - even if just a slight at the moment. Can't believe Russell weights 180+, no wonder you were huffing and puffing! I guess being TH-cam or Facebook influencers, you really put your lives out there and as "subscribers" we can get a little disturbingly vocal without realizing it. Thanks for sharing your lives on a farm and being patient and tolerant with our reactions...🙏🙏🥰😎
you don’t have to explain to anyone - you two are awesome and you know how to run your farm - things happen on a farm - keep shining and don’t worry one bit about the know-it-alls 😉👍🏼💜
WOW! 140 lbs. I would have never guessed. I felt so sorry when you had to get him in. Difficult. I will pray for Russell. God said we can go to Him for everything. 🙏❤❤❤
Fingers crossed it works for Russell. Diagnosing is sometimes a trial and error procedure. Just keep doing what you think is right. ❤ Happy Birthday Russell 🎂
Glad to hear that Russell is improving! Sounds like you have the kind of vet you can really trust. Praying for complete healing! God bless all of you! ❤
We had a 160 pound mastiff. He started to limp, made vet appointment within a week there was a sore on his back leg, like elbow part. Within the next week we had to put him down as there was a big, like 3-4 inch open wound. The vet said it was cancer. Hopefully since your boy has been limping for a while that’s not what it is.
Miloxican is what my vet prescribed for my dog Frank. Not an LGD, but an Aussie. When he got to limping, I gave him time to heal and tried to limit activity, but when a week or so went by and still limping, I took him to the vet. They did x-rays, and they were negative. Vet said he would have healed on his own, but the meds helped. But the x-rays needed to be done to ensure nothing broken. Nature is amazing and animals heal all the time without intervention. I'm glad Russell will be okay. ❤
One of the other content creators got 2 Great Pyrenees puppies as they grew they were very “ limpy” . The Vet said growing and gaining weight to fast was the reason . Seen a lot in big dog. They or one was on meds for awhile (not sure what it was) they are great now.
I mentioned in a previous video that it looked swollen, although I called it his ankle. I just hope it heals quickly. It's a shame you can't keep him a confined space so that he could rest it.
I'm so glad Russell will be alright. He probably sprained it. Who knows with dogs. We have 2 basset hounds, and sometimes they limp. Yes, they have been to the vet, we finally came to the conclusion they are sleeping on them wrong. We have 5 cats and 10 dogs. the largest is a lab mix. Hey HH Family 🙋🏼♀️💕 . Hey Kevin just a question?.. wasn't Russell supposed to work with Mojo .. Just haven't seen him over there or out with Mojo any more .. I do hope he feels. Better and it's a muscle strain.. he may have just twisted it playing .. y'all have a amazing weekend stay safe stay healthy stay positive always make it fun Love from Tucson Arizona 💗🦎🌵🌻🦉👩🏼🌾🌵🦎💗🦎
Prayers for puppy's healing!!
Praying Russell feels better soon. ❤
Hopefully Russell will heals quickly. You both are fantastic animal owners and very caring. Love to you from Perth Western Australia ❤
Whoa!!! 143 lbs. He's a big boy. Goodness. I can tell in your videos that your dogs have solid, healthy builds.
My Dad had three dogs that weighed about a 100 pounds each. He would load them up in his horse trailor or cattle trailor and take them to the vet. That saved a lot of time and aggravation. They loaded up sooooo much easier than trying to lift them up in his truck. Might want to try it next time.
Awesome glad Russell has meds! He looks lively already ❤

Praying for you Mr. Russell. I love you buddy i pray that you get better real soon so your Mom and Dad dont worry so much. God bless you all.
Work with him on the lease a lot. Then drive the truck into pasture and introduce loading. Worked very well for me. I always load INSIDE the pasture.
Praying for complete healing for Russell.
Thanks for the update praying for Russell

You still need to train them for those times they need to go to a vet.
He may be big, but he is still a puppy easy to train.
I'm glad you took Russell to the vet. Those anti-inflammatory meds will help fairly fast.
Even guard dogs need full and complete training.
That is correct, many people get a certain breed. And expect that, the dog will do its job. Working class dogs have certain attributes but it's breed into them at a genetic level. Yep I'm thinking 2 big boys is too much for her. Maybe MOJO could take on training Russell now.
You still can work with training all your dogs. They are not too old to learn new tricks. ❤️

Happy belated Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊 Sweet Angel 😊
Hopefully these meds will help and give him some relief. Walking all three on a leash will help when taking them to the vet

My thought too.
I think that's what Riley @GDF had, too, but she never held her foot like Russell was.
Love how you talk to the animals. I have come to enjoy watching all of them 🫠
I hope Russell gets better soon ❤🙏
Hoping your big boy gets better soon.
Praying that Russell heals fast. Sending lots of love and hugs to all ❤
Russell seems to be improving with the pain medication! So glad he is improving. ❤
Pray that medication will solve Russell's problem. It's one big dog that's for sure. Glad you were able to rescue the goat. GOD bless y'all.

Hoping Russ gets to feeling better soon.🩵
Thanks for sharing.
🙏 For Russell.
Thanks, we appreciate it!
Thank you for the update on Russell. I hope he heals up with no more issues.
Also a ramp or solid portable stairs would be a great idea and take him for drives often, so he gets used to it.
Thank you for the up date on Russell. Pray it just a sprain and med will help him recover. Pray for a full recovery. Love the all ❤.
Thank you, we appreciate you.

Gott sei Dank ist geht's RUSSEL etwas ❤ besser .❤❤❤❤❤❤ soooo ein lieber Hund ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤viel Glück weiterhin ❤
Glad the pup is feeling better. Thank goodness.
That is their hock joint. Hoping he heals quickly!
The hock joint in a horse is the equivalent of the human heel joint. Same for all four-legged mammals built like dogs.
Hopefully everything is good with Russell ❤❤
Him's a good knucklehead. Hoping he heals up well and quickly.
Continued prayers for Russell that he will heal quickly
Prayers for Russell recovery 🙏🙏 LGD's not happy leaving the herd their protecting. 🫶. Blessings 🙏🫶❤️🫶🙏
That’s a big boy and he’s so sweet. I love him. Well, actually I love all of your animals. ❤
Hopefully Russel will be much better with the meds from the vet! Love watching your channel❤️

Glad to see Russell is responding to the medication. I’m 🙏 he does better and better.
We appreciate you keeping him in your thoughts!
I mentioned in a previous video that it looked swollen, although I called it his ankle. I just hope it heals quickly. It's a shame you can't keep him a confined space so that he could rest it.
Thanks for telling us .
Thanks for watching!
Glad to see that Russel is not limping as much as before. Hopefully this medicine is helping him heal.
I hope he heals quickly and completely. Hugs to Russell.
Prayers for Russell ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Get well Soon Russel
Meloxicam helped the swelling in my knee, hopefully Russell will heal soon ❤️🇨🇦
Thank God it's not a torn ACL!🙏🙏 Praying for Russ to get better soon!
The bassets, bulldogs , chiweenies, dachshunds, and a chihuahua. It's always interesting around here. Keep praying for Russell.
