Evelyn was simply the best of her generation. There were many greats during her career but Ashford was the class of the field. I always felt she was the winner of the gold in the 1988 100 final. No disrespect to Flo-jo but I simply did not believe her performances were not drug enhanced. And Wilma.........simply the "Grand Dame" of track. Seeing these two together was epic.

Flo Jo was good but only great for a brief tainted period and then she retired for some strange reason. I don't believe EA was taking drugs as she was so consistent and was just better....but not by a long shot, just better. Smooth muscle tone speaks volumes to the muscle bound women of today who look like the East Germans of old...who we all learned were juiced up. EA will always be my favorite since I was blessed to watch her run her entire career.

Evelyn deserves all the respect. I don't know how she ran that fast, as I really think she had terrible form, lot of body movement, bent forward at waist. Room for lots of improvement. Evelyn deserves all the respect. I don't know how she ran that fast, as I really think she had terrible form, lot of body movement, bent forward at waist. Room for lots of improvement. Was she clean in those early days with very poor to no testing, no one knows. What I do know is she did great. Loved watching her anchor run with Flo Jo the most, that was awesome.
