Some people don't want their attention to be at the bottom of the screen reading when there are real faces and scenery to take in. This dub is no where near bad. I personally enjoy the subbed version, but come on guys, everyone has their own preferences and enjoys media differently. Diversity and increasing the accessibility of the content to a wide variety of people is always a good thing, no need to mock someone else for their preference. I think the voice acting is good enough in the dubbed version, but the problem is they sound straight out of the recording booth. I understand it is hard to spend much money on dubbing, but the post-production is not so good. Wherever scenes take place, they just sound like a recording booth. But, still, it is good to have a dubbed version.
As someone who has severe dyslexia i can totally relate to having a hard time with subtitles especially how fast the expect you to read. Sometimes I can fly through book and other times it takes forever

And if the word suppose is supposed to make me feel bad or something your sadly barking up the wrong tree. I was in 4th grade before I could read a book yet I still was able to get a 4.0 in college. The thing I dislike about the dub is they all sound like they're super young with those soft voices, it doesn't fit the characters. Sounds like they got anime dub actors lol . Only old man dub is good imo

I get why they have to watch the dubbed version, but it's so unfortunate. The dubbed version is so bad you don't get the emotional impact and the great acting of the original. You get amatureish dubs that are actually funny.

@@IXSICNESS Ugh, get off your high horse. Battle Royale's movie is shit compared to the novel or even the manga. No real character development or even characters, the major themes handled on surface level justified by the gore and violence. And we're not even talking about the lame sequel.
For me it was my niece. I was skeptical about watching it and she'd already binged it. She said it was that good she'd watch the 1st episode again with me. After that 1st episode I was hooked and I finished the season the next day. Would have finished the day before if I'd started earlier that evening.

From what I've read online, in Korea, adults are expected to provide for their parents when latter get old, which makes Gi-Hun even more unlikable there. Also i think it's cool that you're watching it with dubs because most people watched subs and this way we can experience both.

People who are complaining about them watching the dub just be glad they are watching the show and enjoy it not everyone has to watch the same way that you do i personally saw it dub because I'm not used to watching Korean shows that's why i decided to go with the dub and i absolutely loved it and just yesterday i started watching the sub and i felt the dub did it justice but that's my opinion and some disagree i get it but don't get offensive about it. ❤
Well Steve did mention at the start that he prefers sub but due to his condition he needs to watch the dub instead. That's ok. Look, you don't have to defend dub for the sake of it, like what do you mean you're not used to watch Korean shows, or any shows for that matter so you need it dubbed? Just watch it like any other show! The dub didn't do the original actors' voices any justice. Unless you're having a condition like Steve's, watching with sub is like listening to the radio while driving. It comes natural. It's more immersive instead of some fake voice-over which sounds like you're in a cereal commercial.

I mean it took me about 2 years to start watching anime subbed on a regular basis and hopefully after finishing this show now for the 2nd time now with the sub I'll be slowly starting to watch more till it becomes regular 👍

With me; I have a learning disability when it comes to being able to learn and/comprehend things based upon certain topics/hobbies, etc. Certain things just click for me, while other things not so much; people honestly think that I'm just lazy or I don't study hard enough; but the simple truth is: I can't retain the information as good as the next person; so if someone were to give me a mathematical equation that is in the form of say... Calculus i will not be able to comprehend it even if someone were to sit with me all day and/or me just really hard press in study mode. And even IF I was able to learn Calculus I get severe anxiety/stress when it comes to taking math tests because if you get one part of the formula wrong everything falls apart. I applaud you Steven, for giving this show a go. Big hearts to ya

As a person who I think should have been known sooner, I am even grateful that Korea is living in this era when it is attracting attention. Oh! Thank you for your reaction video. Most of the Korean content posted on Netflix is excellent. Myeongnyang, the New World, the Exhibition of Villains, etc. are all very excellent works. @@serin77 I said it's good compared to other dubs. (Sorry in advance for the amount I wrote) Yes there are some dialogue changes, however the vibe and character development isn't lost in translation. It's very easy to fill in any gaps. Also, if you knew anything about dubs, you'd know they don't purposefully mistranslate. It's necessary for scene length and viewer comfort. If they kept the complete and original translation then dialogue would be spilling over scenes and therefore it'd be hard to track who's saying what, who's doing what, and the experience would be terrible. Don't crap on dubs, they do amazing with all the limitations they have. And again, squid game's dub is much better than many others. My friend watched dubbed and got the EXACT same experience. She understood the story, she loved the characters and we described the characters personalities and traits the exact same. That's how I know this dub isn't bad lmao. Hope this helped
I've been in a situation where an organized movie night was ruined when the host refused to put CC on for the legally deaf guest. That guest sobbed in front of everyone after "losing the argument." I have a hard time just watching anything with sub titles because my brain has to read those sub titles even if I can perfectly understand what is being said, which means I stare at the text instead of the actual movie
I’m the same way. But it was worth it. Sometimes I’d pause to read the text and then rewind just to watch the expressions on their face. I also sat pretty close to the monitor like I was playing a video game

I actually watched the dubbed version of this show because my husband has nystagmus (a condition that causes his eyes to tremble uncontrollably), so subtitles are very difficult for him. I’m actually glad to see someone else react to the dubbed version. It’s easier for me to tell what’s going on since it’s so hard to read subtitles on the small reaction screens.

People seriously need to chill who cares if someone watches the dub or not. The important thing is we all enjoy the show and whatever makes that process enjoyable is all that matters. Everything nowadays is always blown out of proportion its ridiculous.
The dubbed version fails to convey the raw emotion given to the role by the actual actors. The actual actor crying or being angry is a thousand times more emotionally pleasing than a shitty dub person merely reading the lines.
Because speech is an integral part of a character and the way they talk and speak in Korean affects the emotions, so especially for a k-drama , dubbing is literally disrespectful to the effort put by actors in portraying their character's raw emotions.

As someone who is not using english as first language, i actually learn english because it's hard for me to read english sub the entire time i watched a movie...

I also watched the dubbed version of the show. By like episode 3 the out of synch lips didn't even bother me and I barely noticed it. Subbed is just too hard for me to concentrate on and process so I'm with you guys! This is the version of the show I watched. Personally I think it also makes reactions easier to watch because I dont have to read tiny subtitles to know what your reacting to lol. Rock on!
On the original language version, I cried my eyes out. But in the dubbed version, it was humorous and amusing. It did not have the emotional resonance of the original, and took me way out of the show.

I think dubbed is better for TH-cam. It's impossible to read the subs in a reaction video. I know we're not watching the show but I like to do both.
I think the voice acting is good enough in the dubbed version, but the problem is they sound straight out of the recording booth. I understand it is hard to spend much money on dubbing, but the post-production is not so good. Wherever scenes take place, they just sound like a recording booth. But, still, it is good to have a dubbed version.
I agree unfortunately most reactors can’t read and react at the same time.
As someone who has severe dyslexia i can totally relate to having a hard time with subtitles especially how fast the expect you to read. Sometimes I can fly through book and other times it takes forever

For me it was my niece. I was skeptical about watching it and she'd already binged it. She said it was that good she'd watch the 1st episode again with me. After that 1st episode I was hooked and I finished the season the next day. Would have finished the day before if I'd started earlier that evening.

People who are complaining about them watching the dub just be glad they are watching the show and enjoy it not everyone has to watch the same way that you do i personally saw it dub because I'm not used to watching Korean shows that's why i decided to go with the dub and i absolutely loved it and just yesterday i started watching the sub and i felt the dub did it justice but that's my opinion and some disagree i get it but don't get offensive about it. ❤
Well Steve did mention at the start that he prefers sub but due to his condition he needs to watch the dub instead. That's ok. Look, you don't have to defend dub for the sake of it, like what do you mean you're not used to watch Korean shows, or any shows for that matter so you need it dubbed? Just watch it like any other show! The dub didn't do the original actors' voices any justice. Unless you're having a condition like Steve's, watching with sub is like listening to the radio while driving. It comes natural. It's more immersive instead of some fake voice-over which sounds like you're in a cereal commercial.
So you need to be used to Korean shows before you watch subtitles?

I mean it took me about 2 years to start watching anime subbed on a regular basis and hopefully after finishing this show now for the 2nd time now with the sub I'll be slowly starting to watch more till it becomes regular 👍

With me; I have a learning disability when it comes to being able to learn and/comprehend things based upon certain topics/hobbies, etc. Certain things just click for me, while other things not so much; people honestly think that I'm just lazy or I don't study hard enough; but the simple truth is: I can't retain the information as good as the next person; so if someone were to give me a mathematical equation that is in the form of say... Calculus i will not be able to comprehend it even if someone were to sit with me all day and/or me just really hard press in study mode. And even IF I was able to learn Calculus I get severe anxiety/stress when it comes to taking math tests because if you get one part of the formula wrong everything falls apart.

As a Korean, I feel very proud these days. There have been many good works in Korea for a long time, but it's actually a little strange for me to be known to the world now. As a person who I think should have been known sooner, I am even grateful that Korea is living in this era when it is attracting attention. Oh! Thank you for your reaction video. Most of the Korean content posted on Netflix is excellent. Myeongnyang, the New World, the Exhibition of Villains, etc. are all very excellent works. In particular, there is a saying that the genre of Ma Dong-seok, who you both know, is Ma Dong-seok. Please continue to love Korean works and show us reaction videos ^^. I subscribed and left.

Yes there are some dialogue changes, however the vibe and character development isn't lost in translation. It's very easy to fill in any gaps. Also, if you knew anything about dubs, you'd know they don't purposefully mistranslate. It's necessary for scene length and viewer comfort. If they kept the complete and original translation then dialogue would be spilling over scenes and therefore it'd be hard to track who's saying what, who's doing what, and the experience would be terrible.
Don't crap on dubs, they do amazing with all the limitations they have.
And again, squid game's dub is much better than many others.
My friend watched dubbed and got the EXACT same experience. She understood the story, she loved the characters and we described the characters personalities and traits the exact same. That's how I know this dub isn't bad lmao.

I actually watched the dubbed version of this show because my husband has nystagmus (a condition that causes his eyes to tremble uncontrollably), so subtitles are very difficult for him.
I’m actually glad to see someone else react to the dubbed version. It’s easier for me to tell what’s going on since it’s so hard to read subtitles on the small reaction screens.

The dubbed version fails to convey the raw emotion given to the role by the actual actors. The actual actor crying or being angry is a thousand times more emotionally pleasing than a shitty dub person merely reading the lines.
Because speech is an integral part of a character and the way they talk and speak in Korean affects the emotions, so especially for a k-drama , dubbing is literally disrespectful to the effort put by actors in portraying their character's raw emotions.

I was not expecting this but a big surprise! I finished the show last week it was really good but emotional. I have gotten into a lot of shows non-english speaking and I actually listen to the audio in their language with English subtitles. Glad you guys are watching it! Enjoy!

I also watched the dubbed version of the show. By like episode 3 the out of synch lips didn't even bother me and I barely noticed it. Subbed is just too hard for me to concentrate on and process so I'm with you guys! This is the version of the show I watched. Personally I think it also makes reactions easier to watch because I dont have to read tiny subtitles to know what your reacting to lol. Rock on!
On the original language version, I cried my eyes out. But in the dubbed version, it was humorous and amusing. It did not have the emotional resonance of the original, and took me way out of the show.
