Dust to dust. That's the story of your body. The emotions, feelings, joy, anger...... all gone forever. It belonged to the body. You emerge. Accept that. An emergence does not need to disappear. It mostly works to give you more emergences. How many grain of salt do you need before it suddenly becomes a pile? We suddenly appear around 2 years old. We say it's because we do not have the memory yet. But we did remember how to walk, being fed every day, going the bed day after day, being tucked in. You knew how to eat, hear, feel, but you couldn't remember any moments? The symbiosis that exists betwen you and your body is detectable in a lot of instances. Walk toward the edge of a cliff and you'll see the response. Think of something and see how it reacts. Your body is just like you. It is you. Let's say that you are clicking in a game to get the highest random number possible for your character. You click but the number is to small, so you click again, and again and again and the the good one comes up but you clicked anyway. You have to slow down your clicking as to take control! They say no free will. Sorry but if i give the message the the body you will not detect it because you don't know how consciousness works. What you see is the body response and then your thought. Of course. It has to be that way. All information that you get comes from the past. I has to happens first. You're the last in line always but you live only in the moment. You don't get old. You can't fix the body but you feel everything. We are just another form of recording system for the universe in all forms, diversities and realities. Universe is very young. We can predict black dwarves but the universe is not old enough to have them yet. We are, after all, an intrinsic part of this universe. By being alive, it automatically makes the universe alive..... and very young. There may just be a field of consciousness that permeates the universe and we just do not know how to tap into it. Science tells me how immense the universe is and that it started from a single point. If I can believe that, I don't see why a field of consciousness would even sound crazy.

Can things be said in Latin that cannot be said in Sanskrit? Can things be said in Religion that cannot be said in science? Can we know the future through the soul? What is possible and what determines what is possible? Is there or does such a thing exist? If it does exist how much of it consists of Nature and how much consists of the Self? As human beings we possess a will. Does the soul determine the limits of our will, or does it perform a function that reconciles our will to Nature? Is the soul the gene of Nature? @@radofnf In evolution there is supposed to be a "gene for that". That life, unlike inorganic matter, has structure that can be modified but which limits manifestation. Longer calves, thicker hair, voice box? There's a gene for that. While the voice box is an evolutionary development what about language? Communication is the soul of language, but it doesn't stop at language. Gestures also communicate. For birds plumage communicates. Can it necessarily follow that communication is an evolutionary development? If so then a question to be asked is if there is a gene for that. Does a gene exist for Latin, for Sanskrit, Chinese, etcetera? If so that would be something, but if not then that begs another question. Is evolution only a limited theory? Evolution depends on genes. But human beings, unlike other lifeforms that we know of, exhibit will. Will that takes the form of language, numbers, religion, philosophy, architecture, science, culture, music and art. Will is not genes, apparently. There could be a gene that aids in the musical ability, but would we call that the rock and roll gene or the classical music gene? For a specific manifestation of music or language there should be a specific gene, mustn't there? Otherwise the will is free of the constraints of genes. I like the idea of "soul" as an emergent property of matter, or as Carl Sagan said "We are a way for the universe to know itself." But what "level" does soul exist, or does it have many levels? Like E.F. Schumacher saw 3 hierarchical levels of being - life, consciousness and self-awareness, and mainly corresponding to plants, animals, and human, while humans contain all 3 levels. So if soul is "life", then it is also been called vitalism. But maybe soul is consciousness of animals who have more power to control their environment. Or maybe soul is what allows our human self-awareness, where we can see ourselves as subject or object and see our will can be used to change ourselves, body and mind, and "create" our soul as something more than our animal nature? Then soul might just be "potential", like an undefined blueprint of forms. But scary because we can now change ourselves at a genetic level, and imagine our descendants will be "trans-human" and we choose what our offspring will be, even if they also have choice in how they incarnate that new potential. Scary stuff, but of course ordinary parenthood is also scary, knowing we don't know what we're doing, and the most we separate from our origins, the less grounded we are to know what is right and good to be. Even our "virtual world" seems to open unlimited mischief, primarily because it separates us from consequences, where you can create a mental world that can just be saved and restored, or erased, but the effect build up in your real body and mind (and soul) as experiences that raise us, or lower us and make us slaves of our darker impulses. And virtual or real world, we can strive for brute power over real understanding or wisdom, and we have a whole biosphere we depend on which we barely understand and can't recreate, even if our space colonies will have to try, and then we'll really know our ignorance.
I believe the soul is the link we have with other beings. You cannot feel like an individual if you are not aware of a collective presence . And despite everything being different in the flesh, the transcendent subjective feeling of convergence and divergence from your standpoint -remains the same. The brain doesn't generate consciousness, it summons it. The individual soul is an expression of consciousness given form in flesh and blood; the soul can and does evolve with the brain and body, but just as gene expressions replicate with evolution over time so too can the soul be replicated or "reincarnated" in a brain that has the gene expression necessary to summon that individual consciousness from one life to the next across time and space. As one life ends and the consciousness falls into oblivion it rises into a slumbering fetal body viable enough to house it; I would refer to this as Quantum Entanglement of consciousness.

The body is a dim image of the Soul, her true being resides in the intelligible realities. Is a sand castle the same as the other sand around it; difference is the abstract or form the sand castle recieves which is discriminate of the other formless sand in general. Now is the sand the same as the abstract form -- no. Sand or matter is the reciprocal of the Soul. Matter is the mirror which recieves the image or form, but the body is not the form, only a dim image or reflection of the form from the higher intelligible reality. The universe that we visually see is the subconscious soul, and that image is brought to our consciousness through the light fuelings our subconscious mind which processes the measurements taken by the light of the subconscious soul. This is processed through the subconscious mind and projected onto our consciousness and that fuels our conscience which in turns fuels the consciousness of the soul which is not part of our visual experience. It's part of the same space and universe but we are conscious in mind during life and become conscious in the soul during death but we build the consciousness of the soul during life. The heart is the vessel to the spirit and the mind is the vessel to the soul, the mind must be mindful of the heart or the consciouness getting to the soul will be corrupted. The soul is shared and so is our neurology. We are all part of the a single body and we are fractals of that body. The brain is a quantumly entangled neural network we all exist inside each others neurology in the mind and we all exist inside the soul of the universe as well. I post this possibility: We are born with a natural fear of death, as a kind of "energy." However, if we die (and come back), that "energy" is depleted. So you just lose the fear of death. I believe that consciousness has to make sense, and that its axioms must be simple & general. I also believe that we will know it when we see it. If we don't see it, then we're missing a vital clue, making false assumptions. Soul as a ghost-like woo that flows from one place to another does not appeal to me. It is the mind-body that moves through space, and it is via the mind-body that we define our experiences of space & time. Why? Because bodies wire neuroplastic brains. The soul, if it exists, has to be beyond space and time, bearing no direct relation to it. That's why, my best guess for an alternative to soul, is entanglement - DNA entanglement, to be specific. As I see it, if genes are what drives us genetic creatures. Memes are what drives these spiritual creatures, souls, ghosts, spirits. They are these blobs of information which define a persons thoughts, etc, can travel from brain to brain, remain in memory, even haunt them there, etc.
Well I know "for myself" that I remember before taking on this flesh body I was waiting to be cast down in this place looking at it n thinking whoa it doesn't even look real, and I think the soul is the same as consciousness it's both one in the same so I know it can exist without the body. If you care enough, here is what the Bible says: "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Recently I was about to clear a spiders web from the outside of the house but my wife stopped me because it had many newly hatched baby spiders living there. With age many people avoid unnecessary killing of other critters, myself included. Killing to feed and/ or protected oneself and family is often necessary. I do plenty of such killing when out hunting and fishing for quality food.

Walk toward the edge of a cliff and you'll see the response. Think of something and see how it reacts. Your body is just like you. It is you. Let's say that you are clicking in a game to get the highest random number possible for your character. You click but the number is to small, so you click again, and again and again and the the good one comes up but you clicked anyway. You have to slow down your clicking as to take control! They say no free will. Sorry but if i give the message the the body you will not detect it because you don't know how consciousness works. What you see is the body response and then your thought. Of course. It has to be that way. All information that you get comes from the past. I has to happens first. You're the last in line always but you live only in the moment. You don't get old. You can't fix the body but you feel everything. We are just another form of recording system for the universe in all forms, diversities and realities. Universe is very young. We can predict black dwarves but the universe is not old enough to have them yet. We are, after all, an intrinsic part of this universe. By being alive, it automatically makes the universe alive..... and very young. There may just be a field of consciousness that permeates the universe and we just do not know how to tap into it. @@radofnf In evolution there is supposed to be a "gene for that". That life, unlike inorganic matter, has structure that can be modified but which limits manifestation. Longer calves, thicker hair, voice box? There's a gene for that.
While the voice box is an evolutionary development what about language? Communication is the soul of language, but it doesn't stop at language. Gestures also communicate. For birds plumage communicates.
Can it necessarily follow that communication is an evolutionary development? If so then a question to be asked is if there is a gene for that. Does a gene exist for Latin, for Sanskrit, Chinese, etcetera?
If so that would be something, but if not then that begs another question. Is evolution only a limited theory?
Evolution depends on genes. But human beings, unlike other lifeforms that we know of, exhibit will. Will that takes the form of language, numbers, religion, philosophy, architecture, science, culture, music and art.
Will is not genes, apparently. There could be a gene that aids in the musical ability, but would we call that the rock and roll gene or the classical music gene? For a specific manifestation of music or language there should be a specific gene, mustn't there? Otherwise the will is free of the constraints of genes.
This freedom of the will from genetic control is why I posed the question of the difference between different languages.

I like the idea of "soul" as an emergent property of matter, or as Carl Sagan said "We are a way for the universe to know itself."
But what "level" does soul exist, or does it have many levels? Like E.F. Schumacher saw 3 hierarchical levels of being - life, consciousness and self-awareness, and mainly corresponding to plants, animals, and human, while humans contain all 3 levels. So if soul is "life", then it is also been called vitalism.
But maybe soul is consciousness of animals who have more power to control their environment. Or maybe soul is what allows our human self-awareness, where we can see ourselves as subject or object and see our will can be used to change ourselves, body and mind, and "create" our soul as something more than our animal nature? Then soul might just be "potential", like an undefined blueprint of forms.
But scary because we can now change ourselves at a genetic level, and imagine our descendants will be "trans-human" and we choose what our offspring will be, even if they also have choice in how they incarnate that new potential. Scary stuff, but of course ordinary parenthood is also scary, knowing we don't know what we're doing, and the most we separate from our origins, the less grounded we are to know what is right and good to be. Even our "virtual world" seems to open unlimited mischief, primarily because it separates us from consequences, where you can create a mental world that can just be saved and restored, or erased, but the effect build up in your real body and mind (and soul) as experiences that raise us, or lower us and make us slaves of our darker impulses.
And virtual or real world, we can strive for brute power over real understanding or wisdom, and we have a whole biosphere we depend on which we barely understand and can't recreate, even if our space colonies will have to try, and then we'll really know our ignorance.
For a soul to continue on after body demise, would need to sustain in only the time dimension, or might even have to move beyond time dimension?
I believe the soul is the link we have with other beings. You cannot feel like an individual if you are not aware of a collective presence . And despite everything being different in the flesh, the transcendent subjective feeling of convergence and divergence from your standpoint -remains the same. The brain doesn't generate consciousness, it summons it. The individual soul is an expression of consciousness given form in flesh and blood; the soul can and does evolve with the brain and body, but just as gene expressions replicate with evolution over time so too can the soul be replicated or "reincarnated" in a brain that has the gene expression necessary to summon that individual consciousness from one life to the next across time and space. As one life ends and the consciousness falls into oblivion it rises into a slumbering fetal body viable enough to house it; I would refer to this as Quantum Entanglement of consciousness.

The only way soul and life after death could be scientifically explained is for this universe (U1) to have a twin universe (U2) such that each particle in U1 is Quantum Entangled with its corresponding particle in U2. The universe that we visually see is the subconscious soul, and that image is brought to our consciousness through the light fuelings our subconscious mind which processes the measurements taken by the light of the subconscious soul. Personal: I had an NDE/OBE when I had a tonsillectomy as a child of 6, during the surgery. I was lucky to survive. They used ether induction with no oxygen. Kids died during those inductions. I had no idea what this was, except that I WANTED to go back. I still do. When I was in my 40's I got lost at sea (by myself) during a scuba accident, for about 4 hours. I had no illusions. I am a doctor. I knew I would die by drowning in about 12 yours. But I had NO fear of death. I swam around until a "voice" told me to get my scuba mask wet and hold it above my head to reflect the Sun so that they could find me.
I had no fear of death. None. No nightmares. No fear of the ocean. No PTSD. I "just knew" I would be going "back." I had cancer 8 years ago. Still no fear. I post this possibility: We are born with a natural fear of death, as a kind of "energy." However, if we die (and come back), that "energy" is depleted. So you just lose the fear of death. This data is enough for me to accept Deism and sometimes, theism. However, I do not attend Church or Synagogue. I have been (personally) granted an enormous number of blessings, none of which I feel I did anything to deserve.
I cannot present you with the absolutes you seem to need. Fine. I sometimes argue with atheists on-line. But have stopped because they tend to get abusive.

I believe that consciousness has to make sense, and that its axioms must be simple & general. I also believe that we will know it when we see it. If we don't see it, then we're missing a vital clue, making false assumptions. Soul as a ghost-like woo that flows from one place to another does not appeal to me. Well I know "for myself" that I remember before taking on this flesh body I was waiting to be cast down in this place looking at it n thinking whoa it doesn't even look real, and I think the soul is the same as consciousness it's both one in the same so I know it can exist without the body. You want to know the soul from what point of view? If you care enough, here is what the Bible says: "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Genesis 2:7) Exactly what does this mean? (1) "Man became a living soul." It does not say, 'man came to have a living soul,' instead it says "man became." Therefore man himself is the soul, the living one. (2) "God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Do the maths here: "form man of (or from) the dust" + "breathed into his nostrils the breath of life" = "living soul." So what is the point here? This is the point: the dust from the ground is the physical part, all the chemical elements accompanied by all physical forms of energy detectable and maneuverable in material physics. "The breath of life" is the immaterial part. The only and only source of the breath of life is God. This is something that is within God himself. You can find it absolutely nowhere else. That is why the Bible uses the anthropomorphic expression, "breathed." The creator of all things does not breath in oxygen and put out carbon dioxide as animals and humans do. The breath of life is the spark of life which accounts for consciousness and everything qualia about humans.
Now the material part, the dust from the ground, the physical human body plus the immaterial part, "the breath of life" put together to form the "living soul," the living human being.
So in conclusion, "the breath of life" is the immaterial part of the living soul, man himself. Only God can and will restore the breath of life. Material science can never phantom that.

Recently I was about to clear a spiders web from the outside of the house but my wife stopped me because it had many newly hatched baby spiders living there. With age many people avoid unnecessary killing of other critters, myself included. Killing to feed and/ or protected oneself and family is often necessary. I do plenty of such killing when out hunting and fishing for quality food.

So then what of the Soul?
The Soul is the chair made from wood. To understand our Soul we need to understand the Soul of a chair. The tree is dead yet the chair is alive and the tree remembered through this life of the chair. The chair lives within the world of consciousness through the connection of brains. The Soul of the chair determined by the life of the tree. Strength, colour, smell and value. When every tree of that type is gone the chair lives on in memory of the tree. While the chair continues to exist the Soul of the tree lives.
Humans are more complicated however the same structure is true of the human Soul.
There are more complex nudity laws surrounding the evolution of the human Soul however it is through our living that we build our soul on the foundation of our entire evolution.
As long as our flesh lasts in the entombed preservation of a protected earth the heart of our robot will beat to the sound of life.
This is where the laws of nature meet the laws of quantum mechanics. A world where your experience is carried in duality as the creative error of logic.
